Living Our Faith

Today’s gospel can appear to be about marriage, but it goes deeper than that. It outlines how God wants us to live in right relationship with each other, and ultimately with him. The severing of relationships and commitments was prevalent even in biblical times. So much so that it was necessary for Moses to address it in Deuteronomy. However, Jesus reminded the Pharisees as well as his disciples a bit later in the passage that this was not God’s plan. We are to show the same fidelity and commitment in our relationships to each other as God shows to us. In other words, we should love our neighbors as ourselves. Just as in biblical times, this can be quite challenging. We can all be difficult to deal with and to live with. But if we keep God at the center and allow him to strengthen us, our relationships become strengthened and more holy as well and we are able to live in right relationship with each other, and ultimately with him.

Viviendo Nuestra Fe

The Heart of St. Louis Annual Appeal is a yearly, organized effort to obtain gifts of support for St. Louis Catholic School from the school community, alumni, parishioners, local businesses, and friends of St. Louis Catholic School. Unlike fundraisers which rely on students’ sales of products in order for the school to receive a percentage, the Annual Appeal seeks donations and 100% of all monies donated go directly to the school which help bridge the income gap between the tuition charged to families and the actual cost of a Catholic education at St. Louis Catholic School, thereby keeping Catholic education accessible to more families. Please check for information in the Narthex, starting this month to see how you can help us continue this wonderful tradition of Catholic education at St. Louis!
