YOUR ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

made 5 home visits during the week ending on January 3rd. We helped 2 families with rent, 1 family with utilities, 1 family with medications, and one with a bus pass. We again distributed some of the HEB cards that you had donated, along with clothing vouchers. One recent case was that of a St. Louis parishioner who works to support her two children. She had served for more than 10 years in the US Marines before moving to Austin 13 years ago. During the holiday rush she had missed a payment on her Austin utility payment plan. The total balance of $645 immediately became due and they threatened to immediately disconnect her home. She had managed to come up with $500 and was only asking for help with the final $145. Because of your support, we were able to provide this balance and help her keep her power on. She offered to repay us by making contributions to our Social Ministry collection, but we encouraged to focus on her children and their needs. Our volunteers concluded their visit by praying with her. WE ARE IN NEED OF Toothbrushes, travel size
