2017 AT THE ST. LOUIS FARM | As 2017 begins, make it
a resolution to help out at St. Louis Farm! The winter months are a great opportunity to volunteer -- the weather is cooler, the Farm is full of tasks large and small, and volunteering is a great way to give back after Christmas feasting. We'll be having a monthly Saturday Work Day on February 25 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. We'll have refreshments, fellowship, seasoned volunteers to guide you, and you can help us provide fresh vegetables for the Food Pantry! Mark your calendars, pull on a sweatshirt, and come on out -- we're located on the church property near the corner of St. Joseph and Hardy Street. For more info, follow us on Facebook or send us an email at stlouisfarmatx@gmail.com. ARE YOU LOOKING FOR OPPORTUNITIES TO VOLUNTEER HERE AT THE PARISH? The Altar Guild
is in need of volunteers to help with cleaning and preparing the Church for worship each Saturday morning. We especially need additional help for the 3rd weekend of the month, but could always use extra hands on other weekends, as well. We meet each Saturday morning at 8 a.m. in the Sacristy (back door of the church). For more information, contact Cathy Voltaggio at 512-345-5043 (email: cathy.voltaggio@gmail. com) or Elizabeth Polito at 512-454-0384 ext. 213. K OF C BREAKFAST | Each month the St. Louis Knights of
Columbus make fabulous breakfasts for our Parish. Proceeds from the first 3 Sundays in February will go to the St. Louis Early Childhood Development Center’s Playground Fund! Enjoy a morning free from cooking and cleaning, and help enrich our youngest parishioners’ new playground spaces!

vocations, St. Louis Parish has launched this Chalice Program. Each Sunday an assigned family, couple or individual will come forward at the end of a specified Mass to receive the Vocations Chalice and a special prayer written to accompany it. In taking the chalice in behalf of our parish, the household commits to praying that week for the gift of priests, deacons, sisters and brothers in our Diocese. For more information or to sign up, please contact Catholic Vocations Advocates of Austin at CVAATX@gmail.com. THE ST. LOUIS PARISH LIBRARY | While most New Year's
resolutions are sheer drudgery and require a lot of hard work to accomplish, usually ending in failure, your parish library can make things easier. How about a resolution to go somewhere where you can grow in your faith, find more peace in your life, enjoy beautifully composed music or appreciate a decent, morally sound movie? "Where might I find such a place?" you may say. Why, your parish library; that's where! Come check us out! You can't fail with this New Year's resolution! The parish library staff wish our parishioners a blessed New Year in which you remain happy, healthy and filled with the Spirit. PRAYER SERVICE TO END HUMAN TRAFFICKING The
Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace has designated February 8 as a day of prayer and awareness against human trafficking. Human trafficking, the act of exploiting another human for sexual or economic gain by force, fraud or coercion, is the fastest growing crime in the world. According to a 2012 report from the United Nations crime-fighting office, 2.4 million people are regularly falling victim to human sex trafficking. The St. Louis Women’s Club and the Austin North, Central and South Deaneries Council of Catholic Women will hold a 30 minute prayer service beginning at noon in the St. Louis chapel on Wednesday, February 8. Everyone is invited. If you cannot attend, please mark your calendar to say your personal prayers on this day. Questions? Contact Karen Dunlap, Deaneries President, at 512-836-0530 or kdunlap78@ hotmail.com 2016 CONTRIBUTIONS | Per IRS regulations, St. Louis

We are happy to mail your first statement at no charge, but ask that you pick up replacement statements from the Church Office during regular business hours.
We helped 1 family with rent, 2 families with utilities, 1 family with a Texas Gas bill, and several families with clothing vouchers. We also distributed some of the HEB cards that you had donated during the holidays. One recent case was that of a young man who had been abandoned by his wife and recently moved to Austin with his young daughter. He had found a job, but while getting established, he had missed a utility payment and his power had been cut off. Then, immediately prior to our visit, while he was at work and his daughter in daycare, their apartment had been broken into and some of their stuff stolen. As we talked with him and filled out the forms standing (no furniture) by flashlight (no power), an Austin police officer was collecting finger prints (by flashlight) from the crime scene. Because of your support, we were able to provide $300 toward his utilities and helped him get his power back on. Our volunteers concluded their visit by praying with him. WE ARE IN NEED OF Toothbrushes, travel size
toothpaste, travel size deodorant, socks, travel size shaving cream, travel size mouthwash.
