YOUR ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

made 7 home visits during the week ending on 29 November. We helped 3 families with utility bills, 3 with rent and 1 family with auto repairs. We also provided 2 copays. When we encounter a critical need, such as a family being evicted or their power cut off, which is more than we can afford to pay, we then ask some neighboring conferences for a copay (donation) to help pay this critical expense. This often happens because of the many people in our parish needing help. Sometimes neighboring conferences ask us for copays, which we can sometimes afford to make. One of our two copays this week was for a Republic of Congo immigrant, with two children and a fiancé, who lost his job and missed a payment on his utilities. His power has been cut off. He has started a new minimum wage warehouse worker job, but he must pay $780 to the City of Austin before his power will be restored. The other conference could pay $300, and we pledged a $300 copay. He is planning to make up the difference from his first check. The family is not receiving food stamps, but it was recommended that they apply for them. WE ARE IN NEED OF Toothbrushes, travel size

toothpaste, travel size deodorant, socks, travel size shaving cream, travel size mouthwash. ST. MICHAEL’S CATHOLIC ACADEMY invites prospective
