Altar Server Graduates! It’s that time again! Graduation season! Has it hit you? Are you knee-deep in it? Are you graduating high school? College? Graduate School? Do you have a child or grandchild who has reached this milestone? I feel this special vibe throughout Austin right now. Many families have children who are putting on their caps and gowns and making plans for their near future. It is emotional, exciting, and—dare I say it—a little scary. Social media has been abuzz for the last few weeks—filled with proud parents, lots of smiles, and that phenomenal look on a graduate’s face. You know that look—picture it now—a smile that radiates pure joy, with eyes that you can imagine saying – ‘I did it. I worked hard for this accomplishment and no one can take that from me…’ My sentimental heart loves this time of year—graduation speeches, celebrations, and the look on a parent’s face. Here at St. Louis, we are also going through these proud 1
and joyful moments as we witness our parishioners reach these milestones. In May, we celebrated our graduates at an 11:30 am Mass. Watching these young, high school graduates process into the Church and receive a special blessing was a beautiful moment. Our phenomenal Women’s Club provided each of these fine young men and women enrollment into the Clerical Endowment Fund of the Austin Diocesan Council of Catholic Women—such a wonderful gift of a spiritual bouquet. In our Altar Server Ministry, we have 18 outstanding servers graduating. Yes, you read that correctly – 18! These young people are outstanding examples of leaders and they embody what a servant’s heart looks like. Most have been serving for 9 years, and when you combine all their Masses together, they have served 3,714 Masses, which equates to 7,428 hours of service. Continued on page 2...
