WELCOME OUR NEW PAROCHIAL VICAR! Fr. Doug

Jeffers will be moving into the Rectory the first week of July. Women’s Club is hosting a reception for him in the Narthex, following the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, July 9th. Please join us and welcome him to St. Louis! Father Doug was one of the five newly ordained priests on June 3rd . He grew up in the Sugarland-Missouri City area and attended Texas A&M University. He began thinking about the priesthood, even before joining the Catholic Church in 2007. An A&M graduate in 2010, he entered Holy Trinity and began his journey toward a religious vocation, attending St. Mary’s Seminary and the Pontifical College Josephinum. He and Father Jesse Martinez were classmates and remain good friends. We are happy to have Fr. Doug join the St. Louis staff and look forward to his tenure with us! WELCOME SEMINARIAN WILL ROONEY! Beginning this

summer, we are pleased to host seminarian, Will Rooney, who has already moved into the Rectory. You may not see much of Will this summer as he is in pastoral training for the hospitals and “on call” round the clock. However, beginning this fall, Will is with us full time and will be immersing himself in numerous parish ministries, serving the parish as directed by the Pastor. Before then, watch for a “seminarian sighting” at weekend Masses and be sure and welcome Seminarian Will to the parish!

St. Louis Catholic School completed its inaugural year participating in the Lectio Book Award program. These books are selected by librarians from the Diocese of Austin, including our own librarian, Mr. Kemp. The mission is to encourage avid recreational reading with high-quality and high-interest books, while also providing literary resources that support faculty in educating the whole child. Students in grades 4-8 can participate in this program. St. Louis Catholic School library encourages students to read with a number of incentive programs where they earn certificates, parties, and medals. In addition to Lectio, students also participate in Crown Gallery (Gr. 1-3), Texas Bluebonnet (Gr. 3-6), and an honors reading program with different book selections by grade.
