THE SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIS a weekly bulletin & newsletter May 27, 2018 • The Most Holy Trinity
St. Louis Childhood and High School Ministries are excited to partner together this year to present this year’s Vacation Bible School program the week of June 11-15, 2018. This year’s program is based on St. John Paul the Second’s quote that, “Life with Christ is a Wonderful Adventure.” We wanted to do something different, full of meaning and with a real impact in the life of faith of our children. So, we have created our own VBS program where each day we will focus on an Old Testament Hero and a Catholic Saint. The kids will have opportunities to learn, play, pray, and grow their faith. As you can imagine, running a VBS is thrilling, and requires some help. Volunteers will help with everything from manning the snack station, to helping with crafts, to set up and break down, to storytelling. There are so many important needs that surround VBS and each is important! No small deed or action is too small… it’s all ministry as the Body of Christ works together! If you can’t volunteer that week, but would still like to help our efforts, you can: Pray! This is SO important! Pray for the teenagers that will work with the children, pray for the volunteers, and of course, pray for the kids that will attend and their families! Financial Support: Yes, we charge a small fee to have a budget for VBS, but it doesn’t always cover the expenses. We would be grateful for any donation you would like to make.
If you would like your child or children to participate in St Louis VBS 2018 please fill out the online registration form at: www.st-louis.org/vbs
Registration forms are required for all students. We are so excited that we have such strong support from our Pastor and that the week will culminate with Mass for the children and their families. Students without registration Our ultimate goal for VBS is to provide an opportunity for children to learn forms will not be allowed the wonderful adventure that life with Christ truly is - in a safe and loving admittance. environment that is full of fun and joy. 1 512-454-0384 St. Louis Catholic Church & School

The St. Louis Catholic School STEM elective class had the opportunity to speak with the mayor about steps taken toward sustainability on our campus at the Student Innovation Showcase. These students were awarded 2 EcoRise grants. The first grant will be used to purchase 2 compost bins for the school. The second will be used for biodegradable forks for the lower grades and silverware for the upper grades. These projects were developed in response to the school’s Zero Waste Day in December. It was estimated that the school produces 8,784 pounds of trash each year from the cafeteria and dispose of 9,050 forks! Way to go, 7th grade! “Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience.”
