2018-2019 PASTORAL COUNCIL Rev. Jesse Martinez, Tyler Taylor, Javier Gonzales, Joe Ramacciotti, Ryan Edgerly, Daniel Caballero, Ofelio Guevara, Ken Horton, Rev. Doug Jeffers, Lucina Barragan, Bruni Cruz, Donna McClung, Rev. James Misko, Socorro Diaz, Esperanza “Hope” Debo, Lauren Ward.

On August 28, 2018 the St. Louis Pastoral Council was officially commissioned at the 9:30AM Sunday Mass. Consisting of 12 discerned members serving 3-year terms, and one ex-officio member, each member is an ordinary parishioner from the pews and has heard the call to serve the Parish and our Pastor. The primary purpose of Pastoral Council is to advise Fr. James in the visioning of St. Louis Catholic Church. The Council also serves as liaisons for all parish groups, ministries, and parishioners. It is a channel of communication between the People of God and the Pastor, serving as your “voices from the pews”. The Council works closely with Fr. James and the Parochial Vicars to solve problems, plan parish events, and strategize the future. One of the key components of the Council is to keep the best interest of the parish at the forefront of its deliberations. With that, the Council strives for flexibility and openness to the changing needs of this dynamic parish. Members remain available for parishioners to talk with, always visible and active within the parish, particularly before and after Mass each weekend in the Narthex. If you want to know more about the Pastoral Council, or if you have questions or comments about the parish, know that our Pastoral Council members are here for you. You can find us on the Pastoral Council page of our parish website (www.st-louis.org/ pastoral-council). We are happy to serve you!

The fifth and sixth graders at St. Louis Catholic School take Religion in Action as part of their curriculum. They are becoming experts in the Corporal Works of Mercy. Not only are they researching and learning about the corporal works of mercy, but they are finding ways to put these into action throughout the school year. This year they have visited with Bea Dela Rosa, the Director of Social Ministries, and are preparing to help each month in social ministries and ways to feed the hungry. They organized a school wide prayer chain that took place all day to pray for someone in our community in need, as well as making cards for those who are sick. Also each Friday they help clean, dust, and organize the church in preparation for the weekend.

makes me feel good to be able to “Ithelp and see the ways we can help others.”
