TRAINING FOR EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION

Do you feel called to participate more deeply in the liturgy? Consider attending our upcoming training sessions to become an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. 11:30am in the Church. This popular scripture study program has been offered at St. Louis for 18 years and both men and women have enjoyed learning more about their faith. The first part of the 2017-2018 study will focus on Mary. Beginning November 15th the focus will switch to a study of the Gospel of Luke, ending May 9th. Pre-registration is required so enough materials can be purchased, and because participants are assigned to study groups that start together on the first day of class. 5967 invites you to our 3rd Annual Casino Knight, September 9 in Wozniak Hall. Enjoy dinner, casino games, raffles, prizes, and fellowship. Tickets are $25 per person. Only 200 tickets will be sold. Ages 18 and over are welcome. Dinner starts at 6.30 p.m. and casino games at 7.30 p.m. Tickets include BBQ dinner, tea, coffee, and $10,000 in gaming chips for entertainment. We will also have sodas and desserts for sale. All proceeds will go towards a new ultrasound machine for the St. John Paul II Life Center. service of psalmody and Gregorian Chant in our beautiful chapel, Choral Vespers with Benediction will be led by our Vespers Choir made up of men and women from the parish each first Sunday of the month at 7:00PM. Compline will be celebrated throughout August, coming to a close the final Sunday of the month as we move to Vespers. Jordan Babcock is a kindergarten teacher at St. Louis Catholic School. Ms. Babcock has a passion for helping young learners reach their full potential in reading and in life. She loves working in a Catholic school environment and the strong sense of community that St. Louis gives us all. Jordan loves all of her students for the amazing children they are and encourages them through a positive and welcoming classroom environment. Ms. Babcock was born in New Mexico and moved to Canada when she was six years old, where she spent her elementary years at a Catholic school in Calgary.

After elementary school, she moved to Houston, where she remained until graduating from the University of Houston with honors and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education for Pk-6th grade. In her spare time, you can find Jordan hiking, swimming, or exploring all things Austin with her dog Koda. Elia Cervantes is a dual language teacher with 27 years teaching experience. She joins the SLCS staff for the 2017-18 school year in Kindergarten. She received her undergraduate from Texas State University, formerly Southwest Texas State University, and her teaching certification from St. Edward’s University. Ms. Cervantes is a very active member at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Pflugerville and belongs to the Pfirst Ladies Guild. She is married and has three daughters. One daughter has graduated from Texas A&M, another is a senior at UT Arlington, and her third daughter is a junior at UT Austin. In her spare time, she enjoys walks and spending time with her family. Ms. Cervantes is very excited to continue her teaching career at St. Louis Catholic School and being a part of our community. Her classroom is a positive and fun place where all children are given the opportunity to learn. Collaboration between the school and home is very important for the success of the students and works closely with families to build that relationship. Please support St. Louis Catholic School.
