Letter from the President Dear Stockton Ports Fans: With the 2014 Stockton Ports season now in the books, I would like to thank you for your continued support of the Stockton Ports and reflect on all of the exciting moments and accomplishments we achieved off the field this season. Ports fans clearly demonstrated their high level of dedication and commitment, showing why they are the best fans of any team in the California League. I am joined by everybody associated with the Ports, on and off the field, when I say thank you for your support this season. A ballpark is brought to life by its fans, and once again you have helped bring Banner Island Ballpark to life with your enthusiasm and dedication to the team and the game of baseball. You make Banner Island Ballpark the ideal place to be on any spring or summer night in Stockton. In addition to exciting player performances, we have made several exciting strides off the field. The Ports Anchor Fund generated over $18,000 this season through the generous support of sponsors and fans at various events. The majority of these funds will go to support youth sports and health-based community outreach programs in Stockton and San Joaquin County. For our 8th annual Pink Night, the Ports donated $7,855 for St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Breast Health Services and over $3,500 to Sutter Gould Medical Foundation for the 2nd annual Knock Prostate Cancer Out of the Ballpark Day. The Ports also continued the Little League sponsorship program, helping out 14 local leagues financially and hosting nearly 10,800 Little Leaguers and family members at the ballpark from 31 different leagues, in addition to holding the fourth annual Challenger Little League Game and two Ports Youth Baseball Camps in 2014. Numbers reached an all-time high for this season’s Baseball by the Books reading program, in which the Ports distributed 45,000 bookmarks within the San Joaquin Community. On the two Ports’ Educational Days in May, Banner Island Ballpark hosted over 6,000 students, teachers, and chaperones from 82 schools from the San Joaquin and surrounding communities. The Ports also implemented a new program this year in conjunction with the Stockton-San Joaquin Public Library’s summer reading program, in which Ports players visited local libraries and the Ports donated over 5,400 tickets to participants who completed the program. In addition, we are proud to serve our community by utilizing our venue for the allotted dates we control outside of the Stockton Ports home schedule. For the second consecutive year we have served as the host of the West Coast Conference Baseball Championship and the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament. We have hosted numerous amateur baseball tournaments and showcase events to expose people to our facility and create much needed economic impact into our community. This has been an exciting and fun-filled season, both on and off the field, for the Stockton Ports. It’s been a pleasure to serve our community and to bring our fans the best family entertainment in the region at our own Banner Island Ballpark! Go Ports! Sincerely,
Pat Filippone President

After a blockbuster trade on the 4th of July sent A’s top prospect Addison Russell, in addition to former Port Dan Straily and Ports centerfielder and number two prospect Billy McKinney, to the Chicago Cubs, the Ports’ starting shortstop, Daniel Robertson, was crowned the Athletics’ new top prospect. In addition to the game, Banner Island Ballpark was full of new promotions and celebrity appearances. The 1989 National League MVP Kevin Mitchell and Saved by the Bell’s Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding) stopped by for pre-game ceremonies and autograph signings. The Ports were thrilled to announce their new promotional schedule, including a Jackie Robinson Night, the 50th anniversary of the 1969 California League Champions Alumni Night, and Josh Donaldson and Sean Doolittle bobblehead giveaways. The season also included monthly Thursday hat giveaways and fourteen fireworks nights.
