appy New Year!
I hope each of you had a wonderful holiday season with family and friends alike. 2021 continued to be challenging but much improved from that of 2020. Although 2021 had its challenges it was still a great year for the Club as it became a safe haven for our membership. The Clubs usage was up as à la carte dining increased in addition to banquets returning. Marina activities were also very active. It is now 2022 and one in which we will exceed your expectations and continue to create “Member Delight”. This is also the time of year to reflect on all the great things we have accomplished as well as those areas we can improve upon. As we prepare to set sail in this New Year our commitment is to serve the needs of our entire membership and incorporate fun filled, affordable, and diverse activities for all to enjoy. With that said, our Strategic Plan is well underway and discussion groups will be taking place early this month. With the conclusion of the discussion groups a final plan is to be presented to the membership sometime in March. For the plan to work it will need to be followed by a Club wide Master Plan which will give us the vision of what our locations can ultimately become with a little re-purposing and creativity, which will take the Club out 10 to 20 years. For the St. Petersburg Yacht Club to stay relevant and attractive in a growing community we will benefit greatly with a Master Plan. Your continued input and feedback will be critical to the success of such a plan. The word has been out but now its official – both Clubs have a new revised Dress Code and will go into effect beginning January 1, 2022. Warnings will be given in the month of
January, and it will go into full effect and enforced starting February 1, 2022. The world around us continues to become more and more casual and in dealing with COVID the last couple years enforcement may have been a bit relaxed. Nevertheless, a Club of this stature and world recognition we should be a little more refined when visiting. Here is a quick look at things “Not Permitted” in any of our Clubhouses moving forward: “Men are not to wear hats or caps inside either Clubhouse” “Sleeveless T-Shirts and tank tops” (men) “Swimwear to be appropriate at all times” “T-Shirts with pictures or writing that could be offensive” In closing, the St. Petersburg Yacht Club has been recognized for many years now as a Platinum Club of America along with 29 other fine Yacht Clubs in the nation, and now we have been recognized as one of the Top 50 Yacht Clubs in the World. This is a very exciting time for our Club with a new Strategic Plan in the works and a Master Plan to follow, as mentioned previously in my article, the future of this great Club looks brighter than ever. Congratulations! I look forward to meeting everyone in the coming months as I make myself visible around our various facilities.
Cheers!
