Reception

What a busy and exciting week we have had in Reception!
The highlight of the week must be our visit to Ian’s mobile farm down at Forest school. We were very lucky to see donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs, ducks, alpacas, Guinea pigs and rabbits! Farmer Ian told us lots of interesting facts about all the animals including how many stomachs goats have and how long ducks have to sit on their eggs.
All of the children were very brave and sensible as they petted the animals, and we were so impressed by all their curious questions! The star of the show has to be Meg the Sheep dog who was very well behaved and very patient with the children as they played fetch with her!
Reception have also enjoyed visiting the chicks in Nursery, learning about lifecycles and how to care for a small animal.
The week has also included clay faces and den building down at Forest school, woodwork projects and lots of junk modelling inspired by last week’s shoe box dioramas. Our little learners have also been busy exploring numbers 9 and 10 using Cuisenaire rods and developing their phonics skills singing songs and doing some fabulous sentence writing!
We are very proud of you all, have a lovely weekend!
