July StreetWise is back in print!
Since April, StreetWise editions went 100% digital for the safety of our vendors. We finally returned to print with our cover story featuring “You Are Beautiful” artwork by Matthew Hoffman, which was previously only available in digital form.
August Black-Owned Businesses
StreetWise published a two-edition series highlighting Blackowned business in Chicagoland, “Part 1: Restaurants” and “Part 2: Service & Retail.” Both featured business listings, descriptions, and interviews with owners.
28th Anniversary!
Because of COVID-19, we couldn’t celebrate with a big party as usual, but StreetWise’s 28th anniversary didn’t go unnoticed, with digital birthday greetings shared from our vendors online.
"My name is Danny Davis. I would like to let you guys know that I appreciate all the money that you have given to us at StreetWise. I never thought in a million years that all these donations would come to us like this. I've been working with StreetWise for almost 22 years. I've come a long way. I appreciate everything that you've done, like making sure we have good food to take with us and money in our pockets. You're making sure that we can make it to the next day, next week, or the next month. The money that you've given us has helped a whole lot, especially for me."

In Memorium: Lawrence Anthony
With a heavy heart, StreetWise announced the passing of Vendor Lawrence Anthony. He was a standout vendor, always willing to help. Lawrence participated in our special projects, asked the right questions, and frequently contributed to the magazine. He was best known for selling StreetWise across from the Federal Building, in front of Intelligentsia Coffee. He was just at StreetWise the week prior buying papers - thrilled to be back out to give his business a jumpstart. He will be missed.
