Expert tips to brighten your space for spring summer
My name is Eliza, and I’m the resident stylist here at Homemaker The Valley. I offer complimentary styling sessions to the people of Brisbane who would like a little helping hand selecting the perfect furniture piece, choosing the right styling items for their home or needing assistance in bringing their spaces together.
Styling a home for spring and summer is one of my favourite things to do as it means injecting more colour, embracing lightweight fabrics, and breathing life into an interior. I always start by doing a bit of a decluttering and spring clean of the main areas of the home such as the living room, bedroom, and outdoor entertaining areas. This way you are left with a clean canvas and can start the fun part of brightening up your spaces and decorating for the warmer months ahead.
One of my favourite ways to brighten the home for spring summer is to switch up the soft furnishings. Change out the cushions and throw blankets for lightweight materials such as linen and cotton and add in a pop of colour like sage green or baby blue. Pattern is huge this upcoming season, so ensure you select a few graphic prints in your cushions and blankets for an on-trend look. Another way I love to brighten my home during the spring summer months is by creating styled ‘vignettes’ and ‘moments’ throughout the home. For example, adding a beautiful tray to the kitchen benchtop styled with a trailing green plant, summer scented candle, bright patterned coasters, and some fresh fruit. If you would like some more assistance and ideas for ways to style your home for spring summer, then book your free styling session today. Simply head to the website and select a date and time that works best for you. I look forward to helping you decorate and style your home this summer!
Inspired by renovated factories and manufacturing plants, the industrial look is cool and sleek when done correctly. This trend blends practicality and minimalism by showcasing exposed raw materials, a restrained colour palette, and purposeful details.

Stylist tips
The trick to creating a beautifully styled space with the industrial trend is to embrace texture. As this design style is predominantly monochromatic, I suggest using texture to create interest and intrigue. Think ribbed vases, suede sofas, and textural black timbers.
The Hotel to home trend brings 5-star luxury to home interior design, blending sumptuous materials, refined textures, and luxe furnishings. This elevated aesthetic redefines domesticity, blurring the lines between hotel and home.

Stylist tips
Hotel luxury shouldn’t be saved for exotic destinations and once-in-a-lifetime trips. I love investing in key pieces for the home that will make you feel like you’re staying at a 5-star hotel every night. Think high thread count sheets, fluffy towels, and styled vignettes of candles, luxurious hand creams and a vase of flowers.

Nothing screams summer like a gorgeous Slim Aarons artwork. Take cues from the colour palettes of the South of France and Positano by pairing pastel blues, bright greens, and sunny oranges together for a fun and vibrant look. The best way to do this is in soft furnishings such as cushions and linen throw blankets or small décor items such as vases, candles, and trays.

Stylist tips
Embracing the disco trend is all about going bold and not being afraid to take a risk. Play with pattern and shape in unique ways such as a bold, graphic area rug or a large, scalloped floor mirror. Metallic finishes are also a huge part of this trend so embrace golds, silvers, and chromes in your decorative accessories such as vases, lamps, and frames of artwork.
