The 12 days of Christmas will be rolled into one on December 12 as Ipswich City Mall transforms into a wonderland of artisan gifts, treats and fun for all ages.

Catch the Christmas spirit with a festive return steam train journey to historic Grandchester station. Departing at 9.30am on Sunday 13 December from the Museum platform, enjoy the one and a half hour journey through scenic countryside. When you arrive at Grandchester see the train turn around for the journey home. Bookings are essential and passengers are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.

Bring the kids down to The Workshops Rail Museum to enjoy a whole heap of hands-on Thomas activities. They can dress up as a magician and try out some magic tricks, let off steam in the indoor adventure playground and expansive grounds and have fun with hat and bunny craft that they can take home. FAMILY DAY OUT Gather the kids, some towels, swimmers, lunch and, of course, sunscreen and head to Bob Gamble Park for a fun day out. Located at River Heart Parklands, this water wonderland is equipped with interactive water fountains, pumps, troughs and wheels, brightlycoloured tree houses, sandpits, swings, a zero depth water playground, discovery forest, a 25-metre flying fox and so much more. With toilets, showers, electric barbecues, wheelchair and pram friendly boardwalks and plenty of shade, the parklands have been designed as Ipswich’s little oasis, bringing life to the city on a summer’s day. Enjoy a pram and wheelchair friendly stroll along the one-kilometre river-hugging boardwalk with spectacular views of the Bremer River. Make sure to keep an eye out for the historical plaques with fun facts about the parklands, as well as the mythical creatures illuminated in the water at night. The Queensland Motorsport Museum will come to life with pro street artists adding murals along their entire mall frontage in addition to features in Union Place. Adding to the local flare, during the week kids over 12 can join the artists in workshops and make their artistic mark on the giant cube that will become a permanent fixture in the Square. Kids who are feeling tricky can take to their decks with a week of skateboarding workshops and demos held by professional boarders from the Australian Skateboarding Community Initiative. And at the end of the week, join in the takeover and enjoy the beats at the Battle of the Bands, explore the market stalls, be wowed by live skateboarding demonstrations and the unveiling of the street art.
