THE KMART WISHING TREE APPEAL AUSTRALIA’S LARGEST CHRISTMAS GIFT APPEAL, THE KMART WISHING TREE, HAS COLLECTED MORE THAN 5 MILLION GIFTS OVER THE PAST 25 YEARS. This year, the appeal aims to raise more than 500,000 gifts for Australians in need. The gifts will be distributed via charity partner, The Salvation Army.

Party Hair Tips

Achieve Alterna Ambassador Katie Holmes’ glam party look this season.

For this boho curl look: Firstly shampoo hair and dry using a combination of our Alterna Bamboo Weightless Whipped Mousse, and Plumping Strand Expand to amplify volume.

Once hair is completely dried, pick up your Cloud Nine curling wand. Wrap hair around wand and hold for approximately five seconds and release.

Work your way up the hair taking large sections.

Once hair is all curled split your hair straight down the middle. Grab the very ends of your hair in a ponytail and shake it. Repeat to both sides. from Village Meats

7 kg (15 lb) smoked, cooked leg ham honey glaZe 125 g (41/2 oz/2/3 cup) soft brown sugar 3 tablespoons honey 1 tablespoon hot english mustard preheat the oven to 180°C (350°f/gas 4). Cut a line through the thick rind of the leg ham, 6 cm (21/2 inches) from the shank end so you can easily lift the rind. To remove the rind, run your thumb around the edge, under the rind and carefully pull back, easing your hand under the rind between the fat and the rind. with a sharp knife, lightly score the fat to form a diamond pattern. do not cut all the way through to the ham or the fat will fall off during cooking.

To make the honey glaze, mix the sugar, honey and mustard together in a bowl. Spread half the glaze over the ham with a palette knife or the back of a spoon and press a clove into the centre of each diamond. put the ham on a rack in a deep baking dish and pour 500 ml (17 fl oz/2 cups) water into the dish. Cover the ham and dish securely with greased foil and cook for 45 minutes. Remove from the oven and brush or spread the remaining glaze over the ham. Increase the heat to 210°C (415°f/gas 6–7) and bake, uncovered, for 20 minutes, or until the surface is lightly caramelized. Dark ChoColate anD rasPberry brownie tarts 200g dark (70%) chocolate, chopped 60g unsalted butter ½ cup (90g) brown sugar ¼ cup (60ml) single (pouring) cream 3 eggs ¼ cup (35g) plain flour 250g raspberries chocolate ganache 300g dark chocolate, chopped 1 cup (250ml) single (pouring) cream

preheat oven to 150°C. place the chocolate, butter, sugar and cream in a saucepan over low heat and stir until melted and smooth. place the eggs and flour in a bowl and whisk until well combined. whisk in the chocolate mixture until combined. pour into 4 x 10cm round lightly greased springform cake tins lined with nonstick baking paper and top with the raspberries. bake for 35–40 minutes or until cooked when tested with a skewer.

Your guests will want a second serving of these sumptuous dark chocolate tarts.

To make the chocolate ganache, place the chocolate and cream in a small saucepan over low heat and stir until melted and smooth. Serve the tarts with the chocolate ganache.
