IN CASE YOU
By Riesa PascalAs fall approaches, the city of Orlando is on fire with fantastic events! Last month proved to be one of the best times for Central Floridians to explore the City Beautiful as crowds were low and the kickoff of fall left a joyful pep in every step. Here’s a look at just some of the incredible events that took place, just in case you missed it!
Fairy Doors was a hit in Orlando last month and it’s not too late for you to check out this charming exhibit too as it runs through October 31. It features twenty, one-of-a-kind, whimsical fairy doors which will inspire your child’s imaginative world of enchanted forests, secret gardens and the magic of fairies. Each door is created by a very special fairy and all you have to do is find these beautiful doors located throughout the 50-acre gardens. A map of the fairy doors and a narrative of each fairy will be available for this fun exhibit for all ages. Gather some friends and family to see if you can find all the fairy doors, but remember the doors only open for the fairies.
Throughout the month of September, the city had the opportunity to experience the wonders of Orlando’s acclaimed culinary scene with Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining which celebrated its 17th year from August 26 through October 2. With 38 delicious days, it was the perfect chance to enjoy three-course, prix-fixe dinners at many of Orlando’s most popular restaurants, including MICHELIN Guide honorees, for just $40 per person. In addition, $1 from each meal served will benefit The Able Trust, which works to help expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities. New this year, participants could upgrade dinner and a movie to dinner and an overnight stay with Visit Orlando’s Magical Nights. This popular program featured special offers from some of Orlando’s best resorts and hotels — including many that host one or more restaurants participating in Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining.
This Labor Day weekend at Disney Springs, Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant celebrated the 10th anniversary of their boutique music festival, the Great Irish Hooley. What does “Hooley” mean, you may ask? It’s a Gaelic term for a lively party with music, entertainment and fun for the whole family. From September 2-5, guests joined in the fun while they danced and sang along to traditional Irish tunes, Celt grass, folk, and blues performed by Irish bands – and enjoyed some classic Irish fare of course. Taking the stage were a first-rate lineup from the Irish music world that were guaranteed to get toes tapping such as Beyond Eire, One for the Foxes and Teada.
Before a packed house of 25,527 fans, Orlando City SC won the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, U.S. Soccer’s National Championship, by defeating Sacramento Republic SC 3-0 on September 7th. A second half Facundo Torres brace fired the club to victory and its first trophy as a Division I (MLS) club. With the win, Orlando also pockets the $300,000 prize awarded to the tournament champion, sees their name engraved on the historic Dewar Cup and claims a berth in the
2023 Concacaf Champions League. The Lions are only the second team from the Sunshine State to win the Open Cup and they were watched by members of Florida’s last Open Cup champs, the St. Petersburg Kickers, who won American soccer’s oldest competition in 1989. Ten members of the Kickers championship team were honored for their Cup win in a special pre-match ceremony.
Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz joined our community to celebrate our diversity during the City of Orlando’s Hispanic Heritage Month festivities from September 15 to October 15. The Hispanic Heritage Month national theme is “Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation.” The theme encouraged us to ensure that all voices are represented and welcomed to help build stronger communities and a stronger nation. The city celebrated the culture and traditions of U.S. residents who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico, and the Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South America, and the Caribbean by hosting several activities, including a community celebration event with Hispanic food, music, and entertainment, an art exhibition at the City Hall’s Terrace Gallery featuring art pieces from local Hispanic visual artists, and more.
Continuing its mission to use creative media as a catalyst to inspire and educate people to initiate positive change in their local communities and worldwide, the Global Peace Film Festival (GPFF) celebrated its 20th anniversary this fall. From September 19-25, GPFF once again employed a hybrid format to deliver a robust program of thought-provoking films and art exhibits to people all over the world. Over the course of the festival, a selection of feature and short films were presented in person at locations in Winter Park and Orlando. These films highlighted themes such as civil rights, environmental justice, ethics, human rights, immigration, music, social justice, voting, wellness and wildlife. By design, GPFF is programmed to intersect with the U.N.-sanctioned International Day of Peace on September 21.
Halloween came early this year! The separately ticketed Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort is Orlando’s most famous Halloween event for adults and teens, bringing together the stories and visions of the world’s most notorious creators of horror. From cinematic greats and crazed current cult favorites to the park’s original abominations — every year, the legend grows and the experience reaches beyond your wildest nightmares. Visitors definitely needed someone to cling to, someone to hide behind, and somebody to panic with as they entered mind-ripping haunted houses inspired by the biggest names in horror. In addition to 10 haunted houses, you can face nightmarish creatures on streets twisted into five sinister scare zones, lose yourself in two outrageous live shows filled with diabolical surprises, feast on fearsomely themed food and drinks, and escape to some of Universal Studios Florida’s most exhilarating attractions. The event continues running now through October 31.

The Child Stars of Horror Movies Where Are They Now?
By Riesa PascalWith the month of Halloween and horror movie marathons upon us, I know I can’t be the only one who’s ever watched a child actor in a scary project and been incredibly impressed by their ability to take on such a dark role. Being a child actor is hard enough as it is, but having your breakout role come through a horror film can be even more difficult as it often leads to type casting and drastically reduces the child’s likelihood to have a successful career in other roles. This led me to the question, “What are some of the famous kids from classic horror movies doing now?” Keep reading on because you’re about to find out!
Linda Blair - The Exorcist (1973)
Who could forget this iconic thriller? The Exorcist is an absolute classic and to this day, it remains the role that Linda Blair is most closely associated with. Blair was cast as the possessed teenager Regan and went on to star in a sequel to The Exorcist in 1977. Unlike some other child stars on the list, Blair continued to make a series of horror films throughout the 1980s which earned her certified 'Scream Queen' status. She even agreed to star in Repossessed, a 1990 American comedy film that parodies the 1973 classic that launched her career. Although Blair still acts occasionally, the majority of her efforts are now poured in to her charity, The Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation, which helps find homes for pets and stands up to animal cruelty.
Lisa and Louise Burns - The Shining (1980)
If you ever find yourself terrified by a long and empty hotel hallway, it’s likely because you’ve seen Lisa and Louise Burns in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. The twins played the terrifying young ghost girls in an iconic scene that has even gone on to become a popular halloween costume. The spooky ladies ultimately left acting behind them and disappeared from the public eye after the release of The Shining. That being said, they have popped up periodically to look back on their success as ‘The Shining Twins’ in various documentaries and horror movie projects.
Alex Vincent - Child's Play (1988)
Child’s Play absolutely terrified me when I was a kid so I can only imagine the toll it had on Alex Vincent! Vincent starred in the first installment of the Child's Play franchise which launched the young boy’s career. Vincent continued to ride out his success by appearing as a lead in the sequel, Child's Play 2. Unfortunately, Vincent was replaced by Justin Whalin in the third film and took a subsequent absence from acting between 1994 and 2007 after difficulty finding roles. Since his hiatus, Vincent has returned to his acting roots and managed to participate in several smaller scale horror film projects.
Miko Hughes - Pet Sematary (1989)
At the age of just three, Miko Hughes terrified audiences as Gage in Pet Sematary. Hughes played the youngest character at the horrifying heart of the story and continued to pursue horror film opportunities such as playing Heather Langenkamp's son in Wes Craven's New Nightmare. Hughes has stayed true to his horror movie roots and has maintained a light presence on the Hollywood scene with guest appearances on a multitude of television series, voice acting, some work as a musician, and even directing one of the segments of the 2013 horror anthology film, Chilling Visions: 5 Senses of Fear.
Daveigh Chase - The Ring (2002)
The Ring grossed over $249 million worldwide on a $48 million production budget, making it one of the highest-grossing horror remakes. It also paved the way for English-language remakes of other Asian horror films, such as The Grudge, Dark Water, Shutter, and The Eye. Daveigh Chase appeared as the exceptionally creepy Samara and absolutely stole the show. Since her breakout role, Chase has managed to stay somewhat active in both film and television. She landed a recurring role on the HBO series Big Love back in 2006 and even attempted to pursue a singing career, but has yet to achieve the career success she saw from The Ring.
Isabelle Fuhrman - Orphan (2009)
In perhaps what was one of the darkest roles on the list as far as child acting goes, twelve-year-old Isabelle Fuhrman played Esther, the demonic title character in 2009’s Orphan. The horrifying story is about a couple who adopt a 9-year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she appears. Unlike some other actors on this list, Furhman has continued to enjoy a successful career in Hollywood having played Clove in The Hunger Games, starred in Masters of Sex, Down a Dark Hall, and is even set to reprise her role and a portray a younger version of her child self in the upcoming Orphan: First Kill.
AUTUMN
ART FESTIVAL
Local Artists. Local Music. Local Family Fun.
One of the nation’s oldest, largest and most prestigious outdoor art festivals, The Winter Park Autumn Art Festival is the only juried fine art festival exclusively featuring Florida artists. It is a community-oriented sidewalk show that features work from over 180 outstanding Florida artists. In addition to presenting quality visual art, the festival provides free entertainment and participatory events for the enjoyment of visitors and artists.
The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce is proud to host the festival on the second weekend in October each year. The festival is held in beautiful Central Park located along historic Park Avenue in downtown Winter Park. The festival is suspected to attract around 150,000 visitors.
Volunteering:
By volunteering you will experience a one-of-a kind behind-the-scenes opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation for the artists and their award-winning artwork. Our volunteers help make the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival one of the top outdoor festivals in the country.
Support the Festival: Our Patrons Program was created to provide support of Festival artists through dedicated funds pledged to purchase artwork during our annual show. By participating, Patrons make monetary pledges for given levels of spending. Up to 95 percent of your contribution stays with you to purchase art and the remainder goes to support The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival.
Support the Foundation: Since 1960, The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival has been a community leader in bringing art and the community together and has created wonderful memories for its visitors through the years. Donations to the foundation will help finance programs created to promote art appreciation and education through children’s programming at the annual Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival, our scholarship programs at Rollins College and University of Central Florida and other community outreach programs throughout the year.

What having your nails done tells people
Keeping up with your nails can be tedious, but what do they tell a person about you? Having constantly painted and perfectly sculpted nails often gives off the appearance of wealth and good timekeeping. It’s a known fact that it takes some extra dough and impeccable organization to make regularly scheduled nail appointments. On the other hand, chipped polish can be perceived as equally lazy and busy. Who has time for the little things like nail upkeep when you’ve got a business to run? Most people however, would agree that having no polish is better than chipped. Clean nails with an appropriate length show good hygiene and professionalism, often associated with a corporate setting. What do you think when noticing other people’s nails?
THE BLOW OUT IS BACK
Embrace the frizz-free weather with a blowout!
Planning time to achieve perfect hair can be stressful, especially when it comes down to an already hectic week. For business or play, a relaxing 20-40 minute blowout could be the remedy. Appropriately cared for, a blowout can last from three days up to a week. To achieve flawless results don’t worry about having to hunt down a blow dry bar. Skip the cut and color at any salon for a basic wash and dry. While this seems obtainable at home, going to a salon ensures quality products and professional methods. A lavish scalp massage
will also increase blood flow to your hair follicles for growth. A blowout typically involves styling with a round brush but can range from modest texture to curls. Performed at a salon, there should be no frizz or flyaways from unpracticed hands. In order to best care for a blowout, stylists recommend the simplest of tasks. Add volume by flipping your hair and teasing with hairspray, and minimize oiliness using a dry shampoo bar or spray. For around $30, it’s hard to beat a relaxing 4o minutes and runway ready hair.
STYLE

Fall is here already, as if 2022 couldn’t breeze on by any quicker. This season is notoriously known for its hot fashion in cold weather. And to top it off, men’s fashion is cooler than before. A WATERFRONT OASIS AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
By Dana DamatoBeing a Florida native, my favorite memories growing up (and now) have always been a trip to the beach. There’s no shortage of exceptional beaches that hug the parameters of our great state. My fondest experiences always involve packing up the car and exploring another tropical destination just a short ride away from home. It’s fortunate enough that we can experience that as Floridians, but what really makes me love living here is the opportunity to drive just a few hours south to lush tropical islands. I can be close to everything but away from it all in the Florida Keys. When I dip my feet into the ocean and allow the earthy elements of the sun, sand and salty water to consume me, I stand in awe that this island oasis is still connected to Florida. An experience like this exists at Playa Largo Resort & Spa in Key Largo.
Situated on 14.5 secluded beachfront acres with all-encompassing views of the pristine Florida Bay, Playa Largo Resort & Spa immediately transports guests to a tropical paradise that feels like a distant island, yet only located an hour from Miami. The property embraces a unique, one-of-a-kind and casual Keys experience at every turn. From the warm and welcoming smiles of the friendly and accommodating staff, the live music, a special water table dining experience on property and the lively sunset celebrations, this is a place where you can truly disconnect, kick back and experience everything that makes the Keys, the Keys.
The Playa Largo Resort & Spa is the first new resort built in Key Largo in 21+ years, located at mile marker 97 and developed by Prime Hospitality Group
A TRUE FLORIDA GEM, PLAYA LARGO RESORT & SPA IS YOUR TROPICAL ESCAPE JUST A SHORT DRIVE AWAY FROM HOME.
& Shaner Hotels. Cozy, luxurious guest accommodations are reminiscent of a residential beach house with an AmeriCaribbean aesthetic. Playa Largo offers 177 luxury rooms and suites 10 two-story private bungalows nestled in the rare, natural hammock trees.
Between sun-soaked days of catamaran sailing, relaxing at Ocean Spa and lounging by the pool with a signature Playa Largo cocktail, guests can grab a bite to eat at several of the resorts exquisite dining venues. Las Olas Ceviche Bar is the only true ceviche restaurant in Florida’s Upper Keys. Inspired by its strong influence from the early Spanish explorers, this lively Peruvian restaurant and late-night hangout is known for its fresh seafood ceviche cured in tropical citrus juices derived from nearby Homestead-grown fruits. As for us, we indulged in some of Las Olas’ finest sushi rolls – their famous Green Dragon Roll filled with eel, fresh avocado, meaty crab and siracha to give it a kick, the Spicy Yellow Fin Tuna Roll packed with the perfect amount of spicy tuna, aji Amarillo, scallion, avocado, mango and crispy plantains for a salty, sweet and spicy combination.
The best way to start any day at Playa Largo begins with a hearty, Keys-inspired breakfast at La Marea. This breezy poolside restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating and fresh dishes to satisfy any palette. Guests have the option of a full breakfast buffet or al la carte options that draw inspiration from the resort’s seaside location. Breakfast-lovers will also enjoy classics like Nutella-stuffed French toast, fresh meats and cheeses, freshly pressed juices and more.
One of the best ways to spend a lazy day in the Florida Keys is to relax poolside on one of Playa Largo’s chic chaise lounges, with an ice-cold beverage and a delicious snack from the resort’s Sand Bar. Perfectly nestled between Playa Largo’s freeform pool and the expansive beach, Sand Bar serves up traditional American bites and begs guests to dig their toes into the sand for a truly authentic island experience. Not only is the pool itself a dreamy beachside oasis, but to really up the experience, renting out one of their lush cabanas provides a private and personal experience with the utmost hospitality.
The true highlight of this trip was a dining experience unlike any other I’ve had before. A night that I’ll remember forever and talk about often. An experience that allowed us to enjoy an exquisite dinner while watching sunset with our feet in the ocean. A water table dinner at Sol by the Sea. Reminiscent of a rustic beach house, Sol by the Sea is Playa Largo’s waterfront restaurant ideal for any guests interested in enjoying prime sunset views with a cocktail or the freshest catch of the day. The chef delivers an expert menu inspired by Trinidadian cuisine topping off the island vacation experience. Walking over to our beautifully set table at the foot of the ocean, I knew we were in for quite a treat. We sipped on a crisp glass of champaign while watching the sun set into the ocean knowing we were in for something special. Not only was the scene itself one-of-a-kind, but the mouthwatering meals were what sealed the deal. Starting with a fresh Swordfish appetizer, followed by a meaty grouper perfectly paired with plantains, zucchini and topped with mango, then followed by a tender BBQ chicken, macaroni and cheese and quite possible the best rice and beans I’ve ever tasted. For dessert, a creamy Key Lime pie with a flaky graham crust. The food, atmosphere,
company and service were enough to make this quite possible one of the best experiences.
A true Florida gem, Playa Largo Resort & Spa is your tropical escape just a short drive away from home. Experience all of the best things about your dream island getaway without ever having to step foot on an airplane. From the warm and welcoming staff, to the luxury aesthetics, the dreamy tropical views and food that will keep your mouth watering, this destination will leave you feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and thankful to live so close to such an extraordinary place. GIULIA
ALFA ROMEO
More PERFORMANCE And LUXURY For 2023
Alfa Romeo has announced the details of the 2023 Giulia and Stelvio lineup. The refresh is not as extensive as we had hoped, primarily focusing on two new trims for the SUV and sedan twins that share the Giorgio platform in the form of the Lusso and Estrema trims, taking the number of configurations for each model to six.
Notably absent on the Giulia are the Tonale-inspired headlights that leaked on the Italian Carabinieri’s company car earlier this year, suggesting these may only arrive for the 2024 model year. Both the Giulia and Stelvio thus look the same as last year and the previous year, which is no great shame as they are two of the best designs currently on the scene.
For 2023, the Stelvio and Giulia are available with two carryover engine choices. The standard range is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-pot producing 280 horsepower and 306 lb-ft of torque. You can order the four-pot models with rear-wheel-drive or an optional all-wheel-drive system. The Quadrifoglios are powered by a Ferrari-derived 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6, which sends 505 hp and 443 lb-ft to the rear wheels only of the Giulia and Q4 AWD on the Stelvio.
Despite the twins arguably being the best cars in their respective segments in a number of aspects, sales have been poor. Alfa hopes to change that with the introduction of two special-edition models that will be sold alongside the existing Sprint, Ti, Veloce, and Quadrifoglio trims.
The all-new Lusso trim builds on the existing mid-spec Ti trim. Focusing on luxury over dynamism, the Lusso specification adds Crema Cannelloni-design leather seating surfaces, leather-upholstered dashboard and door uppers, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
The Estrema variants are based on the performanceoriented Veloce, and are meant to bridge the gap between the standard range and the fire-breathing Quadrifoglio. The most significant changes are underneath the sultry bodywork; despite retaining the 280-hp four-cylinder engine, Estrema variants gain adaptive suspension and a limited-slip differential.
They also differ visually with carbon fiber on the mirror caps and grille, gloss black detailing, and dark alloy wheels sized 19 inches on the Giulia and 21 inches on the Stelvio. Inside, they receive the same Harman Kardon sound system as the Lusso but also a dual-pane sunroof and leather-trimmed sports seats.
Across the trim roster, all US-spec Stelvio and Giulia models come standard with the Dark Appearance design, which includes a dark grille, the sportier front fascia, and 35W bi-xenon adaptive headlamps. Interiorwise, all models have front and rear leather-clad heated seats, a wireless charging pad, a seven-inch instrument cluster display, and an 8.8-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM radio.
The available interior colors include Black, Saddle Brown, and Red. The Crema Cannelloni interior with a duo-tone Crema/Black interior theme is exclusive to the Lusso, while the Estrema has a Black leather interior with sports seat and red dash and door stitching. The Quadrifoglio soldiers on with Black Sparco racing seats.
Alfa Romeo’s brilliant color palette is also carried over, but the most exuberant colors are limited to the Veloce and Quadrifoglio. The Veloce is available in Misano Blue ($660), Ocra GT Tri-Coat ($2,200), and the Quadrifoglio-only Verde Montreal (green) Tri-Coat, which also adds $2,200 to the price.
Price increases across the existing range are minimal. The base price of the Alfa Romeo Giulia sees a $600 increase, with the Sprint starting at $43,950. The Ti sees a similar increase to $46,650, but pricing for the Tibased Lusso is not yet available. The Giulia Veloce has an MSRP of $52,090 - up by $900 - while the Estrema costs $55,490. The Quadrifoglio’s price is now $81,630, which is $1,600 more than last year.
On the Stelvio side of things, a $650 increase in base price sees the Sprint start at $46,200 and the Ti at $51,810. The Veloce costs $55,450 and the Estrema will ring you $59,350. The Stelvio Quadriflogio commands a premium of $87,500. Like the Giulia, pricing on the Lusso is not yet available.

ADVANCED ENDODONTICS
GRATITUDE & APPRECIATION
We at Advanced Endodontics are honored and humbled to be again recognized as Orlando’s Dentists of the Year by Orlando Style Magazine. Many thanks to our patients and referring dentists for their trust, confidence, and support in taking charge and making oral care and overall health a priority. This nomination and our continued success are only possible because of you. Thank you!
OUR MISSION
Since 2008, Advanced Endodontics (AE) has been serving the communities of Central Florida by providing our patients with the highest quality of endodontic (root canal) care. From a one-chair single practice, we have grown to 30 chairs across five convenient locations with a team of 8 top-rated skilled endodontists performing thousands of treatments annually. With offices in Clermont, Lake Mary, New Smyrna Beach (soon relocating to Port Orange), Orlando – Lake Nona Region, and Winter Park, we help our patients when they need us the most. From sameday emergency appointments and the latest in dental technology to a dedicated, attentive team, we focus on delivering the best experience and outcome – saving your natural smile.
WHAT SET US APART?
We at AE are committed to doing root canal treatments differently. There are misconceptions about root canals being extremely painful, requiring multiple treatments, and only a temporary fix before an extraction. Perhaps in the past but with modern technology and specialists like endodontists, today’s root canal treatments are virtually painless, mostly finished within one visit, while preserving the natural teeth. Coupled with proper oral care and routine visits to your dentist, the treated tooth can last for many, many years, even a lifetime.
The Patient is Our #1 Priority. We recognize going to the dentist, especially an endodontist, can be filled with fear, worry, and anxiety. At AE, it is about a 5-star patient experience focused on comfort, care, and convenience – from a modern state-of-theart space that’s safe, clean, and welcoming to being welcomed to attentive, caring doctors who listen and take time to put together the best treatment plan for you. Our team ensures the patient is at ease at all times. Cold, stiff neck? We have a neck pillow and blanket.
We also work closely with your general dentists. A key factor for a root canal treatment to be successful is having your crown placed
by your dentist. We recommend getting this done within two to three weeks of treatment to avoid the chance of reinfection or tooth fracture.
Making Modern Endodontics Better. To achieve the best care possible safely and comfortably, the team at Advanced Endodontics stays current on advanced endodontic techniques coupled with the latest dental technology. From 3D CBCT digital scans and digital radiography to surgical microscopes and dental lasers, we can quickly perform better root canal treatments. In addition, we have expanded services to include Photobiomodulation Therapy (PMBT) which helps shorten post-surgery pain management with accelerated recovery and minimal need for opioids. PMBT has also helped treat oral cancer patients who suffer from oral mucositis – a common yet painful side effect of cancer treatments and chemotherapy.
Giving Back to The Community. Over the years, Dr. Chen and the AE team have partnered with several non-profit organizations focused on families, oral health, and community development. From free dental care through Dentistry from the Heart, fundraising, and meal packing for families in need with US Hunger to sponsorships with local high school sports programs, holiday toy collections, and donations with Baby DJ.

C.R. “Chip” Edwards, Jr., D.D.S.
Dr. Edwards – better known as ‘Dr. Chip’ by his patients – has been serving the Greater Central Florida area as a general dentist for 40 years. In an age of many corporaterun dental offices, Dr. Edwards is known as a more traditional and personalized dentist. In his years of practice, he has had the opportunity and privilege to provide dental care for multigenerational families. He enjoys seeing kids grow up to become adults and then have their children as patients.
His love for his patients and his family-oriented nature align with both his professional and personal life philosophy. This coincides with his common goal to always do the right thing in every situation. He says, “Every person is different. Every situation is different.” In 2002, his wife Karri came to the practice, and they began running the office side by side in 2004, with Karri handling the management.
In an environment that is often stressful for patients, his strive for consistency and being genuine, flows over into his team. Most of his team has worked alongside him for over 15 years. This has built a dynamic of trust and familiarity that patients have come to know and respect about his office.
Dr. Edwards places a strong emphasis on maintaining good oral health and preventative dentistry. The connection between the health of the mouth and the rest of the body is becoming more evident in the last decade. He strives to achieve good oral health for his
patients to optimize the health of the rest of the body. The office has low-dose digital radiography and state-of-the-art 3-D scan technology so that he can provide earlier detection of issues and accurate diagnosis for his patients.
One of the most exciting and rewarding procedures we do in our office is placing and restoring dental implants for people who have missing teeth. It is often a challenge, but the results can be life changing. Many people can do away with removable partials and dentures by having implants placed and restored.
After many years of providing dental care, Dr. Edwards still looks forward to coming to the office each day. He enjoys being with his team and interacting with them. They are like friends and family, and we all have a great time working together. Each day brings new challenges and rewards, and it never gets boring!
Dr. Edwards was born in Orlando and graduated from Boone High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in biology at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended Emory University for his dental degree. Then he performed his Dental General Practice Residency at the Medical College of Virginia/VA Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, and he finished his residency in 1980.
For his professional attributes, Dr. Edwards is also well-known for his lighthearted personality. If you happen to visit the office and hear laughter in the next treatment room, don’t be alarmed; it’s just Dr. Edwards trading jokes with a patient.
Ryan L. Mendro, DDS, MS Lucia Roca Mendro, DDS, MDS

Dr. Ryan Mendro earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Florida, his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Columbia University, and his Master of Science and Certificate in Periodontics also at the University of Florida. Dr. Lucia Roca Mendro received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Francisco Marroquin University, her Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the University of Connecticut and completed her Periodontics residency and received her Master of Dental Science at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
Both doctors are Diplomates of the American Board of Periodontology and Implantology, and are active members of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, and Florida Association of Periodontists. Rest assured, you can expect quality, expert care and the most advanced state of the art treatment options. At Precision Periodontics and Dental Implants, the team is committed to providing the latest technology, such as LANAP™; Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure, a specialized treatment for gum disease. Additionally, both doctors provide the Chao Pinhole™ Surgical Technique, a revolutionary alternative to conventional gum grafting for the treatment of receding gums. Both procedures are minimally invasive and do not require the use of any scalpels or stitches. Additionally, Dr. Ryan L. Mendro and Dr. Lucia Roca Mendro use computed tomography, or 3D scan technology. This technology can allow for the removal of hopeless teeth with the simultaneous placement of dental implants (tooth root replacements). An artificial full set of teeth can be made and attached to the dental implants, which provides an instant and permanent hold that eliminates the risk of looseness or slipping associated with traditional dentures. Sometimes this entire procedure can be performed in just a single day! These implant-supported teeth are designed to look, feel and function just like regular teeth. Treating your gum disease, receding gums and replacing your missing teeth has never been easier!
In their spare time the doctors enjoy cooking, working out, outdoor activities, and spending time together with their sons Matteo and Rio and their french bulldog Maurice.

Varsha Ganessingh D.M.D.
Oasis Dental
Dr. Varsha Ganessingh knew that she wanted to be a dentist at a very young age. At the tender age of six years old, she would use her fingers to wiggle and extract her deciduous teeth with ease, almost as if it were second nature. Also, her aunt, who was a dentist, inspired her to pursue dentistry as a career.
After graduating from the University of Florida in 2000, she attended Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine. Four years later, she graduated with her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) Degree. Shortly after, the City Beautiful came calling, and she has been practicing here in Orlando ever since.
In 2011, she started up her own practice, Oasis Dental, in downtown Orlando. She has consistently been voted annually by her peers as one of Orlando’s Top Dentists, since 2007. Dr. G (as her patients and staff call her), believes that dentistry
should be practiced from the heart. A professor of hers years ago in dental school, mentioned in one of his lectures, that they needed to treat every patient as if it were their mother in the chair. Almost 15 years later, these words still reverberate in her head, and is the principle behind how she chooses to practice dentistry.
Dr. G loves all aspects of dentistry but gets a special fulfillment from cosmetic dentistry. She has witnessed patients go from being insecure and not wanting to smile, to being more confident and not wanting to stop smiling! This has changed a lot of patients’ lives for the better, and she loves that she is able to help make that happen.
In her spare time, Dr. G enjoys spending time with her husband Raj and her five year old twin daughters, Arya and Raya. She is an avid animal lover, and has 2 pomeranians Sassy and Lulu, a maltipoo Lily, and a cat Tux.
