publisher’s note
> To most of us the often used hackneyed phrase “think positively” is just thrown off as another overused cliché targeting those who are ‘down in the dumps’ or have economic, health or family worries, thinking the words will bring comfort and solace. The facts are that positive thinking is a mental attitude, which incorporates our mind thoughts, words, and images that are conducive to growth, expansion and success… a mental attitude that expects good and favorable results. We know that a positive mind anticipates happiness, joy, good health and a successful outcome in every situation we face; the mind finds what it seeks. Not everyone accepts the ‘power of positive thinking’. Some consider the subject nonsensical; others scoff at those who believe and accept its virtues. The subject is gaining much momentum as evidenced by the plethora of courses, lectures and publications available to all of us today so to the many that never took the time to utilize the power effectively, this is an opportune time to evaluate and latch on to the true meaning and reap the rewards that are there for the taking.
YOU appreciate our efforts so please join us in thinking positively and let your friends know that Orlando Style welcomes them to join our list of growing ‘family’ members to accompany us in life’s journey. Please make sure you don’t miss the article: “Happy People Are Healthier.” Also, in this men’s issue you will learn how to drive in the fast lane with ‘Gumpert Tornante’. Check out Will Smith in ‘Famous Fathers’ and for those wishing to stay a little closer to home, we think you will enjoy the ‘Travel ‘N Style’ report on “Gossip from Girlfriends’ Getaway” at Loews Miami Beach Hotel. Lastly, be certain to check out our advice in selecting very good wines at very good prices, guaranteed to make a wonderful summer evening even more memorable. Finally, Christopher Columbus, said “You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore” and in this sense I am personally grateful that I fortunately made that trip, literally, to become part of our beautiful country and to be able to bring my positive and optimistic ‘feel’ to many of you through our publications. Have a wonderful and safe summer! <
You may be wondering where I’m going with all of this but creating a magazine issue even better than the previous one is very hard work. It is a labor of love requiring total dedication each and every day despite being critically attacked at times by those that can’t understand why ‘Style’ is always at ‘the top of the charts’ when it comes to popularity and recognized as the most loved, most read, most respected and most ‘pilfered’ magazine in the city. It is our passion to produce a quality product and fulfilling and satisfying to know that

Mommy and Daddy are rich. You all are broke - Will Smith to his Children -

> Though male celebrities are widely recognized for their professional successes, we often forgot to celebrate their most prestigious role- fatherhood. In honor of Father’s Day, we wanted to bring light to some of our favorite celebrity dads. Despite their busy schedules these men all strive to be there for their families. Fatherhood is an underrated roundthe-clock job that deserves to be admired.
It is hard to remember that Will Smith is no longer the teenage “Fresh Prince” we all loved to watch on TV. At the age of 42, Smith is a father of three: Trey, Jaden and Willow. His children do not fall short on talent as well. Seventeen-year-old Trey is a varsity star football player, 11-year-old Jaden is an actor and 8-year-old Willow is a singer and actress. Willow appeared along side her father in the film “I am Legend” in which she played his daughter. Also, she made her music debut with the release of the single “Whip my Hair.” Smith’s son Jaden was his co-star in the film “The Pursuit of Happyness” and later was the star of the remake of the “Karate Kid.” For the filming of the movie most of the family traveled to China.Trey was unable to make the trip because of his commitment to his football team, so Smith took a flight back every weekend to watch his son’s games. Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, strive to keep their children grounded. “Mommy and Daddy are rich. You all are broke,” he says in an interview with Oprah Winfrey. As far as discipline goes, the pair believes in restriction not punishment. They give their children as much freedom as they can handle.

where they spend time giving back and rebuilding the city, or somewhere on the other side of the world, they’re always together. Pitt says that he is so proud that his family comes from all different backgrounds, and how their kids love each other. Though he is always willing to talk about his humanitarian work Pitt is not as open to gushing about his family. “It just gets cheapened somehow, as it goes through the filters in the airwaves” he explained. “And some things you just want to keep close.” We all know about David Beckham’s skills on the soccer field, but we often forget that he is the father of Brooklyn Joseph, Romeo James and Cruz David. Beckham is a big family man. He has been married to his wife Victoria Beckham since 1999. “I love the fact that our children are part of both of us, it’s one of the most amazing things ever,” stated Beckham. He believes that his children and family are his biggest success, more important than any of his career achievements. He admitted that becoming a father has made him less selfish, now his children are his first priority. Beckham has passed down his love of soccer to his sons. He can be found on the field teaching and playing with them. These men each offer something different and yet all of them agree that their family is of the utmost importance to them. They each possess great qualities that they instill in their children. This Father’s Day remember to take the time to acknowledge those men who have inspired and molded you. <
Better known for his sex appeal and numerous leading roles in blockbuster films, Brad Pitt is also the father of six. Pitt and his partner Angelina Jolie have three adopted children from Cambodia, Ethiopia and Vietnam: Maddox (9), Pax (7) and Zahara (6). They also have three biological children: Shiloh (4), and their twins Knox and Vivienne (2). Pitt and his family are best known for spending quality time globe-trotting.Whether it’s in New Orleans,

R.E.L.I.E.F. David Harding, M.D. By: Jennifer Marcus Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> It’s been said that it feels good to do good. If that is the case, then David Harding, M.D. must be feeling exceptional right about now. As an original volunteer and soon to be board member of The R.E.L.I.E.F. Foundation, Harding has been able to help victims all over the world who have been affected by Mother Nature’s most horrific disasters, including a recent trip to Japan to help with the relief efforts from the 8.9 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami just a few months ago. University of Miami students Peter Groverman, Esq. and Armando Gutierrez founded the nonprofit organization known as The Relief Foundation just prior to Hurricane Katrina, the Category 5 storm that left New Orleans, LA and surrounding areas in dismay. RELIEF stands for Relieving and Embracing Lives Interrupted by Earth’s Forces and the mission is to “create a better future for those in need of RELIEF by providing opportunities for volunteers to change their lives by changing the lives of others.” Harding was one of these volunteers that wanted to make an impact on the world. And he has. Following Hurricane Katrina, Harding felt an immediate urge to want to help with the relief efforts. Growing up in Orlando, he felt that with the affected areas being so close, there had to be something he could do besides donating money. Just 24 hours before The Relief Foundation’s trip to Biloxi, MS, Harding received a text message inviting him to come along and be a part of the recovery efforts. It was a no brainer for him and within one day, Harding was able to raise more than $40,000 in medical supplies donated by the Orlando community doctors. He was able to fill the entire under section of the bus with crutches, gauze, birth control, and other medical supplies. At this point, Harding had not even planned to go to med school, but because he had so many medical supplies, everyone assumed he was a doctor and coined him the nickname, Dr. Dave.
It was this trip and possibly the nickname that inspired Harding to attend med school. “This trip was the driving force for me to become a doctor. Seeing the true gratitude on the victim’s faces was enough to want to continue doing it.” Harding applied to med school, attended St. Matthews University School of Medicine in the Grand Cayman Islands where he was awarded the Brendan Roddy Award in 2006 for the student who stands out as a result of his/her initiative and participation in St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine community or greater Caymanian community service areas. He was also awarded the Key to the City of Coral Gables, FL for his community service with the Hurricane Katrina trip. His medical knowledge would prove valuable for The Relief Foundation in the coming months and year. After the Haiti earthquakes in 2010, The Relief Foundation organized a trip with more than 100 volunteers including the Mayor of Coral Gables Don Slesnick, II, surgeons, construction workers, and other volunteers ranging in ages from 18 to 63 years old. The 100+ group shut down an airline terminal and tractor trailers loaded up a 737 airplane filling the entire cargo hold with 44 tons of medical supplies, mattresses, water, tents, diapers, and other aid. The Relief Foundation was the first group to go into Port-au-Prince, even before the American Red Cross. While Harding could not attend this trip, he spent many hours researching ways to keep the volunteers safe prior to their departure, such as necessary shots, preventative

providing opportunities for volunteers to change their lives by changing the lives of others.
The quad went to Nakoso, within 40 miles south of the reactor. “With radiation badges donated by St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in NYC, we were able to record exactly how much radiation we were exposed to each day.” Two of the members even felt drawn to go within 29 km of the reactor, right outside of Iwaki where the number of helpers were low. Harding mentioned that the Japanese government was extremely well prepared and within two days of the disaster, the affected areas were already getting aid and supplies. Harding even planned on going to Choshi, Japan to help but two days prior to arrival, they were told that too many people had shown up and it would be better to go to a different area to help.

measures for diseases, and what was safe to eat and drink while there. While volunteers take a bit of a risk when traveling to these disaster stricken areas, it is important to Harding that everyone remains safe. This value was extremely prevalent just recently when The Relief Foundation organized a trip to Nakoso, Japan to help with the relief efforts from the catastrophic tsunami and earthquake that hit on March 11, 2011. The last-minute trip took place April 25 – May 1 and originally had 14 volunteers. But as the trip approached, people dropped out at the final hour due to fear of the unknown radiation and how it would affect them. “A lot of people were scared about the radiation, including myself. But the more I researched, the more I discovered that the amount I would be exposed to was less than the actual flight to and from Japan or when I receive an X-Ray,” stated Harding. The final count of four people packed their things, took 150 mg tablets of Potassium Iodide to protect their thyroids, boarded the plane and went on an adventure that would forever change their lives…for the better.

…create a better future for those in need of RELIEF by
Harding explained, “The government does a great job with providing resources. Individual providences are set up prior to natural disasters on what supplies or services can be donated in the case of emergency. Once the disaster struck, instantly these companies and firms donated what they said they would and within two days, a lot of the areas had aid.” The most rewarding part for Harding was seeing all the people he was positively affecting and helping. He mentioned that many of the Japanese were surprised that Americans came all the way over to help. “There was one older lady who was crying and kept saying thank you over and over again. It was amazing to make an impact and to help with the perception of Americans globally.” This trip was just one way Harding was able to give back to the world. He didn’t grow an extra ear or obtain super powers from the radiation. He didn’t develop a strange disease from the areas he traveled to. But rather, he gained a new perspective on life and was able to feel good about doing good. Another trip will be scheduled to go back to Japan later in the year to continue with the relief efforts. “It’s life changing and shows that you can always make a difference. The Foundation has the idea that if we can make one child smile, then the mission has been a success.”
Providing help for others runs in the family. David is the son of prestigious Dr.’s Deborah and Victor Harding, whom work and reside here in the Orlando area. Deborah is the CEO and Founder of the esteemed Harding Anti-Aging Center and its subsidiary MD One-On-One, a unique concierge medial practice giving patients the ultimate personal experience. Victor is the Director of Research at the practice. “They provide the same amount of concern for me, as they do for their patients,” said Harding. “They are amazing.” It’s no wonder why David grew up with a passion for helping people. He got to watch the generosity day in and day out with his parents. And with all the recognition he has received for The Relief Foundation and throughout schooling, when asked what his greatest accomplishment in life has been, he said… “My family. I am the oldest of six and we are all doing amazing. It’s very special.” Harding is currently residing in NYC and applying for residencies. In the meantime, he is devoting his time to The Relief Foundation and conducting research based on the radiation readings he collected while in Japan along with the research provided by Safecast, a company solely dedicated to radiation readings in Japan. His goal is to find a way to show that radiation can be detected and that it might not be as bad as the media would claim it to. With this, he is hoping to put people’s minds at ease and possibly recruit more volunteers to the next trip to Japan. The Relief Foundation traveled to Alabama in May to help with the tornado damages and is organizing a trip to Mississippi to aid with the relief efforts from the floods. In January 2012, the Foundation plans to head back to Haiti for their one-year anniversary to build a medical and dental building. To get involved or to learn more about The Relief Foundation, go to www.TheReliefFoundation.com or contact Harding at DrDave@therelieffoundation.com <

Celebrity Soup
From Celebrity Oops to Celebrity Oohs By: Cathleen K. Bode & Dana Damato Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> Whichever category they fall into, once stars have a taste of fame they will usually do whatever it takes to keep it. The question is, how many celebs have mastered a successful comeback? With amazing comebacks from Steven Tyler to Britney Spears, the downfall of stardom has proven to be recoverable. Mariah Carey was music gold from the moment her first single “Vision of Love” was released in 1990. She split from Tommy Mottola, made an embarrassingly horrible movie, “Glitter,” had a mental breakdown, and then returned after a break to an even better contract and multi-platinum success. Releasing several other hits, she is currently enjoying motherhood with husband, Nick Cannon, as she recently gave birth to two

beautiful twin boys, Monroe and Moroccan Scott Cannon. Our all time favorite celebrity oops comes from rap singer, Kanye West, from the crashing of Taylor Swift’s moment on the 2009 VMAs. He is well known as the world’s most famous awards show interrupter and decided to lay low for the first part of 2010. He then did a stark, riveting performance of “Power” on “SNL” that blew America’s collective mind and therefore, brought back his stardom with the past being forgotten. 10 time Grammy nominee and holding bestselling album of 2010, Marshall Mathers, better known as Eminem, didn’t just come back from his time in rehab with “The Recovery,” he also proved his new state of being with
clean and sober, but certainly not safe and tired. After the release of “The Recovery,” the powerful and moving single “Not Afraid” became the nationally recognized anthem to sobriety ever recorded, and then his duet with Rihanna, “Love the Way You Lie,” made it clear that this artist has a whole lot more to share. It seems lately that Steven Tyler has been making a major comeback. Receiving favorable reviews in his role as American Idol judge, the Aerosmith front man has made the cover of People magazine in the beginning of May, had an interview with Today show host Matt Lauer, and released his memoir “Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?” It’s well known that Tyler has had drug problems and been in rehab eight

And last but certainly not least, our all time favorite, none other than pop diva, Britney Spears.A lengthy saga of bad behavior including multiple flashes of her private parts and allegations of drug and alcohol abuse took place in February 2007 with Spears hitting the hair salon buzzing away her hair down to the scalp while photographers snapped away outside. Later that year, she gave what

Career wise, she ended the decade on an up note with her 2008 song “Womanizer” which put her back at the top of the singles chart for the first time since the 1990s. And her album “Circus” is approaching double-platinum status, while her 2009 concert tour was the year’s highest-grossing in the United States. “Gossip from Girlfriends’ Getaway!” By: Jennifer Marcus Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> There’s nothing better in this world than having a really great girlfriend. Someone who is there to talk with about love, break-ups, fashion, and family. Being newly single myself, I knew just what the love doctor was prescribing…a getaway vacation with my best friend. Fortunately for me (and women all over the country), Marie Claire partnered up with the Loews Miami Beach Hotel to present the second annual Marie Claire Girlfriends’ Getaway held April 29 – May 1, 2011.
It might have been a coincidence that on the day when Kate Middleton was becoming a princess at the Royal Wedding and women around the world were wishing they could become one as well, more than 200 women were on their way down to Miami Beach to experience some sun, shopping, sipping, and socializing fit for a princess. My girlfriend and I knew we were in store for an unforgettable weekend when we pulled up to the 790-room Loews Miami Beach Hotel and walked into the grand lobby donned with marble, chandeliers, eight restaurants, an ice-cream shoppe and a palm tree lined promenade that leads to one of the best pool areas on the South Beach strip. We started experiencing this unforgettable weekend at the Kick-Off Happy Hour sponsored by Skinnygirl Margarita by Bethenny Frankel who you may know from Real Housewives of New York or Bethenny Ever After. The 100% natural, 100 calorie per serving cocktail was flowing for two hours while women let down their hair and danced like no one was watching.
Loews Miami Beach Hotel 1601 Collins Avenue Miami, Florida, 33139 Phone: 305-604-1601 Toll Free Reservations: 877-563-9762
I met women from Minnesota who read about the event in a Marie Claire issue, many girl groups from New York looking to “get away from their husbands and kids,” one group who were all high school best friends and were back together celebrating turning 40, and a fabulous Fort Lauderdale quad that saw it in the travel section of the newspaper, came to the first-annual Getaway weekend last year and had so much fun, they had to come back!

Saturday’s itinerary seemed too good to be true. It started off with a Physique 57 workout class (that me and my friend just couldn’t drag ourselves out of bed to take.) We fueled up at the hotel’s gourmet Preston’s Brasserie buffet before grabbing a lounge chair in the exclusive Girlfriends section. And here is when the celebrity status treatment began. Every week, women all around the country flip through the pages of popular magazines envying the celebrities that get that “star treatment.” This time, we were the celebs being pampered all day with mini manicures by OPI, MAC Cosmetics makeovers, hairstyling by Keratin Complex/Sean Donaldson Hair and facials by ZENO and LATHER. Pinch me because I think I’m dreaming! There were pop up tents with products from trendsetter INTERMIX, the leading private sale shopping Web site Rue La La, Make your own Havaianas, Citrine by the Stones, diNeila Brazil swimwear, and my absolute favorite, Hanky Panky’s where

we got to personalize a pair with up to five glamorous rhinestone letters. Husband and boyfriend names were the most popular request. Being the recently single one, I opted for my name in case I ever needed reminding. Oh and have I mention mini cupcakes galore from Stella’s Sweet Shoppe followed by a fashion show? It kept getting better. Marie Claire Senior Fashion Editor Zanna Roberts Rassi paired up with Access Hollywood host, NBC news reporter, actress and author, Maria Menounos to present a mini fashion show donning the top 10 trends of the season. So you too feel prepared for summer fashion, I’ll let you in on some of their secrets. Maxi skirts are in so start looking for these free flowing skirts, perfect for a nice summer day. Keep your dresses minimal so you can where it to the office and then out at night. You can always pair
it up with a blazer to keep it conservative. Stripes are hot! And you can mix and match them with any other type of print, keeping in mind not to do a head-to-toe stripe. Pair it up with a wedge or flat sandal. “A nude shoe is so hot right now,” Rassi informed us. Replacing the LBD for the summer is the romper and an all white head-to-toe look is fresh, clean, and glamorous. Menounos had us all laughing when she reminded us to do a light test to make sure your summer white isn’t see through! She suggested wearing a slip under your dress or having a lining sewn in by a tailor if need be. And the day kept getting better. Got Gourmet? We did when James Beard award winning, Top Chef guest judge and Miami’s favorite chef, Michelle Bernstein shared her fresh tuna and watermelon “Ceviche” recipe with us. We sat back and

laughed, salivated, and admired the vivacious chef as she paired sweet watermelon with savory fresh tuna and tossed it with a soy sauce/sesame oil/ ginger glaze. In just minutes we were enjoying this magical creation when she mentioned that her next recipe was red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. The “wooooooo” from the crowd reminded me that this was a girlsonly weekend. As the sun was making a descent, it was off to another two-hour happy hour sponsored by PAMA, pomegranate flavored liquor. BTW, I must say it is delicious paired up with some bubbly! Not to mention the perfect bite size apps created by Loews Executive Chef Frederic Delaire. Watching the smiles, laughter, and genuine relaxed nature these moms, grandmothers, wives, and single gals were in, made me proud to be a girl. My friend and I headed out to the famous Lincoln Road strip to grab a bite to eat
before heading to SET to experience the Miami nightlife. Let’s just say Will Smith was right when he sang “Party in the city when the heat is on, all night on the beach till the break of dawn.” Miami nightlife is a force to be reckoned with. Sunday morning came and I immediately felt sad knowing that my Getaway weekend was coming to a close. But before I could shed a tear, I remembered the events lined up for our final morning starting with a yoga class out in the beautiful Miami sun led by lululemon athletica. And then it was off to the book-signing brunch with Menounos. She shared her experiences while creating the New York Times Best Selling book, The Everygirl’s Guide to Life,” and encouraged us women to follow our heart, go for our dreams and not let anyone ever tell us we can’t do something. She was so relatable and real, just like she was just talking to a group of her own friends. That’s what this weekend was all about. Celebrating friendship and being a woman. Whether people

came with one friend or eight, by the end of the weekend, we had all bonded in some way. New Jersey Native Lori Cohn said it best. “This weekend was one about women of all ages, dancing and celebrating the bonds of being a girl. We’re all sisters.” If I had to pick one thing to take away from the Marie Claire’s Girlfriend Getaway weekend, it would be that single or not, next year I am definitely coming back! <

Travis Hollifield Winter Park Attorney Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> When informed by Orlando Style staff members that he had been nominated as a “Renaissance Man”, Winter Park attorney Travis Hollifield said “Well, I must be over 400 years old since the Renaissance ended around 1600.” Although Hollifield has not achieved a multi-century age, this Central Florida native has accomplished much by excelling in several different fields. After graduating from Winter Park High School, Hollifield embarked on a fiveyear career in the broadcasting business as an on-air personality known as Travis McKay. His big break came in 1986 when he was hired by Z100 -- the most listened to Top 40 radio station in New York City -- where he worked on the “The Z Morning Zoo” program. Hollifield later returned to Orlando and hosted the high energy evening slot at the old BJ-105 (now Mix 105.1). Despite his success in radio, Hollifield craved more intellectual challenges so he enrolled at UCF, graduated in 1991, and later obtained his law degree at Nova Southeastern University.

Hollifield ultimately founded Hollifield Legal Centre which focuses on working women’s legal rights including FMLA, sexual harassment, and pregnancy discrimination claims. “When I began practicing it was evident that many employment laws either exclusively or disproportionately affected women so I decided to focus my professional efforts on helping women with workplace legal issues.”
Special Promotional Feature
Hollifield also litigates intellectual property matters including copyright, trademark, and patent infringement cases. “It’s a different kind of practice than employment law,” says Hollifield. “I advise clients who need to decide whether to initiate litigation or defend claims brought against them.” In addition, Hollifield has maintained a busy mediation practice since becoming a Florida Supreme Court certified Circuit Civil Mediator. “Mediation is altogether different than litigating as an advocate,” Hollifield noted. “As a mediator, I act as a neutral and help parties make rational decisions regarding whether to settle their claims before trial.” If that wasn’t enough, Hollifield is also an adjunct law professor at Barry University’s law school in Orlando where he has taught intellectual property and entertainment law in recent years. With his rare free time, Hollifield enjoys attending concerts and basketball games with his wife Audra who is the Vice President of Human Resources and Administrative Services for the Orlando Magic. Though he may never achieve the age of 400, Travis Hollifield’s accomplishments are more than enough for us to name him as a “Renaissance Man” of Central Florida.<

> When you ask Roy Smith, of The Smith Family Law Firm, about his recent accolades which include being AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, being selected to Florida Super Lawyers two years in a row, being honored by Nova Southeastern University as a Distinguished Alumni of the year, and recently being selected by Florida Trend magazine as part of its “Legal Elite” series, he flashes an embarrassed smile and shrugs. “Those recognitions are great. But I think they have less to do about me, and much more to do with the fact that we have an amazing and supportive Plaintiff and Family Law Bar in this community.”

Roy, a native Floridian and father of three daughters, dedicates his practice to being the voice for people struggling through divorce as well as victims of automobile accidents. However, he wasn’t always satisfied with the practice of law. “My first jobs out of law school were with firms where I essentially represented insurance companies. My role was to either discredit the injured person or somehow minimize the victims’ damages. It was a dark time for me and I began to hate the law. However, when I made the switch to

representing people and not corporations, I got my spark back in a very big way.” Roy handles family law cases in the traditional form of litigation and is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator. However, his passion, as of late, is advocating for what he considers to be the better way to handle divorce and other family law matters. “The Collaborative Family Law method is simply the best and most efficient vehicle to handle family law cases. It truly is the ‘less stress divorce’ option. I understand it is still foreign to people, but I think we, as family law practitioners, owe it to our community to educate the public and our newest attorneys as to this developing form of law.” Roy has lectured numerous times to both students and attorneys regarding auto accident litigation and family law matters. However, it is clear that he wishes more litigants would opt for the collaborative family law method. “Once you have had a bitterly contested divorce thoroughly resolved through the collaborative process and the parties actually leave the final meeting to get a drink together, you understand that the collaborative method is the better way for the client, for children, and for our society.”<

And if you need help with your game there are dozens of golf schools, teachers and academies to help you work that slice or duck hook out of your game. Not into golf? How about fishing? Hundreds of lakes dot the Central Florida region. Charter fishing is available at inland lakes, as well as on the coasts. > GUMPERT have gained a reputation for their impressive street legal racing cars. They addressed TOURING SUPERLEGGERA with a call for elegance, more passengers and luggage space, improved comfort, access and ventilation, and noise reduction. However, the fundamentals of performance and dynamic properties had to be respected without compromise.
At TOURING, designers and body engineers started then a process of creative elimination to define the true essentials of all the parameters involved, limiting unnecessary weight and volume. The result is still a thoroughbred, just a few grades more civilized, with some extra skills for an enjoyable voyage. It is called a Fast Tourer. However, let there be no misunderstanding about its intentions. The Tornante has the genes of the GUMPERT Apollo and inherits its impressive V8 biturbo engine. Weighing only 196 kg, the engine plays a major role in ensuring the ideal weight and the fascinating driving dynamics of the Tornante. An angle of 90° between the two cylinder banks is a sign of a classic 8-cylinder engine.

Alongside the V8 power unit, an alternative powered Tornante is also planned for 2012. The fully synchronised, automatic sixspeed transmission guarantees efficient utilization of the remarkable energy at the back wheels. The arrangement of the gears in a longitudinal direction in the path of travel ensures a very low center of gravity and optimum weight distribution. Extremely short gearshifts up to 40 milliseconds (torque-to-torque) are provided by the precise TT40e transmission of the Apollo, where “eâ€? stands for electronic gear system. Gear changes are faster thanks to rocker switches on the steering wheel. The Formula 1-type technology promises the ultimate in comfort along with best driving performance. > How do you take an unfinished room and make it complete? Add a Snap of artistic fashionable flare. Art and fashion enthusiasts soared to new heights May 7th inside Orlando’s new GAI building, as the crème de la crème of inspirational vision literally came to life for Snap 2011 Exhibit and Fashion Night.
Elena Vizerskaya & Sven Bode at Snap!
In a blink of an eye the Snap 2011 Exhibits opened the imagination to explore the local, national and worldwide spirit of creativity. The minimalist loft style space of raw steel beams, white walls and a concrete slab floor transformed to completely appeal to the senses. Master photographers and emerging builders of cultural art form canvassed the room, with pit stops along the way to tempt the taste buds with the unique creations of Sushi 101 and spiced delights from Black Bean Deli. With an ornate construction zone as a backdrop, guests became part of the experience as the sounds of Tam Tam African drummers filled the landscape.
froze back into a timeless era throughout the night. A glossy white runway paved the way into the future with a fashion show of “Perception” through fashion projection. Models dressed in all white became interactive screens of sharp transforming images through the use of technology and iPhones. A call for refined futuristic couture pounded the runway with silver metallic patterns (with funky heels to match) as the second fashion show “Reality” captivated the audience. Vibrant deep colors took hold of the puzzle-pieced runway-allowing guests to see every facet of the tone and the shape of realistic style. The blended showcases of touch, sound, taste and imagery of Snap 2011 Exhibit and Fashion Show was done in style giving Orlando a first look at the captivating culture of artists around the world… Don’t miss it next year.<

Locks of Love, or Locks of... Scam? By: Dana Damato Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> In this day and age, a very popular act of kindness and generosity lies in the hands of women willing to donate one of their best natural features; their hair. Hair donation is a highly respected and altruistic act that is commonly donated by both local women and those in Hollywood. Two great charities, such as Locks of Love and Pantene Beautiful Lengths, takes donated hair of at least 10 inches to make human-hair wigs for people with illness-related hair loss. Sounds like a legit and respectable charity, right? Yet, for some reason, how come we never see children with these life-threatening illnesses receive the hair? With a lot of research, the answer to this question is simple: Locks of Love receives more hair than they actually use to make wigs for cancer patients, and sells the surplus hair for cash. If you ask me, something about that doesn’t seem very charitable. Not to be misunderstood, Locks of Love and any charity willing to make wigs for these children is still a great organization. However, with a little research, it appears that its reputation may be based off of false information. The majority of women who make the effort to cut their hair for donation are just regular women who want to make a difference to one innocent child by giving them something that has been taken away from them, a beautiful head of hair. However, the research shows that in 2005
styletome.com
Locks of Love SOLD the excess hair, and instead of giving it away (which is expected), made a profit of $352,401. So the fact of the matter is that most of the hair donated does not end up on a child’s head, and instead is sold to commercial wigmakers.
“
The majority of women who
make the effort to cut their hair for donation are just regular women who want to make a difference to one innocent child by giving them something that has been taken away from them, a beautiful head of hair.
”
On the contrary, Lauren Kukkamaa, Locks of Love communications director, claims that this charity is often misunderstood. Kukkamaa verifies that Locks of Love receives more hair then they can use, and sells the surplus hair to commercial wig companies. So that part is correct, but she continues to explain the reasons behind why. One reason she offers is that a large amount of hair they collect is not usable. There are requirements to the hair conditions they receive; the hair must be natural in color, not dyed, and not gray. In order to make a hair piece the hair must be at least 10-in. long. Also confirmed by Kukkamaa, she says that Locks
of Love pays $1,000 out of pocket to make one hairpiece. So therefore, she says that money they do make from selling surplus hair offsets the cost of manufacturing. The problem is that the normal retail price for a wig is about $3,500, which is a lot more then the cost to manufacture. A charity similar to Locks of Love, Pantene Beautiful Lengths, does the same exact thing except they distribute the hair for free. The argument here is, Pantene is a worldwide company that can afford to distribute the hair for free, whereas Locks of Love is a word of mouth organization that has benefited greatly from word of mouth. However, does it still make it right to sell hair that is donated to profit a charity? The fact of the matter is that Locks of Love is said to receive over 2,000 ponytail donations a week. If you do the math, that would be over 104,000 per year. They say that they have made over 1,000 wigs all together and with ten ponytails per wig that is enough to make 10,400 wigs a year. Is there something very wrong with this picture? Again, these organizations are incredible for what they project to achieve for people with illness related hair loss. However, it’s almost sickening to know that your act of kindness may be used to make an organization profitable. It is well worth it to do a little research before chopping off that 10-inch ponytail of healthy hair.<

Happy People Are Healthier By: Cathleen K. Bode Courtesy of Nancy Gottesman Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> The powerful link between emotional outlook and physical health is no secret. The data has grown year after year as scientists are finding more and more proof of the remarkable way our emotions can affect our immune system. Good feelings have healing effects on the body, and researchers studying everything from the flu to HIV continue to find eye-opening evidence that a person’s mind-set can influence immunity and the rate at which one heals from injuries and illness. When it comes to our health, there are essentially four things under our control: the decision not to smoke, a commitment to exercise, the quality of our diet, and our level of optimism. And

optimism is at least as beneficial as the others. Scientists don’t yet fully understand the biological mechanisms at work, but they know that negative feelings like worrying, sadness, and stressing cause a spike in the hormone cortisol, which in turn suppresses the immune system. Here are 5 tips culled from the latest research on how to stay positive—and healthy. Do Meditative Exercises
We know tai chi has all sorts of benefits, and here’s one more: In research conducted at UCLA, 61 older adults took tai chi classes three times a week, while 61 others attended health education classes. At the end of four months, both groups received a dose of the shingles vaccine—and the tai

chi group achieved twice the level of immunity. “It’s likely the meditation component that is causing the effect,” says study author Michael R. Irwin. “Which means it’s possible other forms of meditative exercise, like yoga, would lead to a similar boost.” Lean on Your Friends
Sheldon Cohen, PhD, is a psychology professor at Carnegie Mellon University and an expert on the link between social networks and health. In one of his studies, Cohen exposed 276 adults to the common cold virus. He wasn’t surprised to find that smokers were three times more likely to get sick. But Cohen also found that subjects who had the least variety of social relationships fared even worse—they were 4.2 times more likely to catch a cold. One reason people with strong social ties are better at warding off infection may be that they have lower stress levels, Cohen says. Seek Help
A study by researchers at the University of Nottingham monitored the rate of healing in 93 people with foot ulcers, a skin injury common in diabetics. After six months, subjects who were clinically depressed and subjects who were not coping well emotionally with their condition showed less improvement. As a result of the findings, the university is developing a therapy program for diabetic patients.“We hope this intervention will help cut the risk of reulceration,” says study author Kavita Vedhara, PhD. Express Yourself!
When you clear your head, good things happen to the rest of you. A study published in Psychosomatic Medicine reported that HIV patients who wrote about their worries for 30 minutes a day four days in a row experienced a drop in their viral load and a rise in infection-fighting T cells. Another study, in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, found that breast cancer patients who talked about their feelings regarding cancer had to schedule fewer doctors’ visits for cancer-related problems.
And Look on the Bright Side
5. Washington, DC
In another of Cohen’s studies, he assessed 193 subjects to determine their level of positive emotions (including happiness, calmness, and liveliness). Again, he exposed participants to a virus—and found that people who scored low on positive emotions were three times as likely to succumb to the bug. (A few high-scoring participants fell ill, too, but they reported fewer symptoms than the average cold or flu sufferer normally experiences.) What’s intriguing about this phenomenon, says Lara M. Stepleman, PhD, an assistant professor of psychiatry and health behavior at the Medical College of Georgia, is that “we all have the ability to choose an optimistic mind-set. And with practice, we can get better at it.”<

> You know summer has hit its peak when 90 degrees feels like 110. So hot and so humid, its like an outdoor steam room! While your body fights the heat by cooling itself down, it eliminates water through sweating, leaving you dehydrated. We all know it’s important to hydrate, and this season celebrities seem to have found a total new way of doing it. And it’s by drinking coconut water.
Coconut Water Craze The Newest Celebrity Drink of Choice
By: Cathleen K. Bode Credits: Flavia Robinson Read more at: StyleToMe.com
The juice extracted directly from young, green coconuts is fat free and contains all five essential electrolytes; calcium, sodium, phosphorous, magnesium and potassium. Chris Pine, Matthew McConaughey, Demi Moore and Madonna have recently been spotted by the paparazzi sipping on the naturally sweet flavored drink. Perhaps it’s one of the secrets for maintaining their jaw dropping bodies.
Curious to know exactly what this powerhouse drink is all about? Not to be mistaken for coconut milk, which is made from coconut meat, coconut water has been revered as a natural source of nutrition, wellness, beauty and hydration for more than 4,000 years. In times of famine and war, coconut water has been used as an intravenous fluid and saved many lives. Coconut water hailed “the ultimate hydration drink.” It comes in to replace nutrients we loose while sick, exercising, consuming alcohol, and just simply by living. This new Hollywood sensation has even made its way into the Oscar’s after parties’ spotlight. This year Madonna welcomed her high profile guests with a coconut water caipirinha cocktail; no wonder they seemed so happy! <

> The first time Dana visited Golden Oak, the new upscale community being developed by Disney, she felt a strong sense of Déjà vu. A friendly receptionist greeted her with a bottle of water and escorted her to a model of the community encased in wood and glass. She immediately recognized the sales staff when they came out with arm loads of glossy brochures which included the plat and floor plans of the upcoming community. As she perused the builders’ names, she realized she had worked with practically all of them and that each one had delivered a world-class experience for her and her buyers. The familiarity came because the same professionals who worked on creating Celebration, the town that Dana has lovingly called home for over ten years, are now in-place to bring Disney’s latest masterpiece to the world! Golden Oak is nestled between The Magic Kingdom and Ep-
cot. It’s named after a ranch in California where Walt Disney retreated to work on his creation known as “the most magical place on Earth.” As a young boy, Walt would sit under a large oak tree and let his imagination run wild. One of the things he always envisioned were communities that added to people’s lives. Following the success of Celebration, Disney is bringing this luxurious neighborhood to Orlando… complete with many exclusive amenities for its residents. They will enjoy VIP transportation, theme park benefits, special event tickets, exclusive community activities, concierge services, a private clubhouse featuring fine dining and upscale fitness facilities, and access to the largest Four Seasons Resort in North America. The Four Seasons Resort planned for this brilliant community will boast a 10-hole golf course, restaurants, and a relaxing spa.

Cameron Hughes Wines: An Excellent Find By: Todd Sorenson Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> In the expansive, sometimes expensive world of wine, is there really anything new under the sun? You wouldn’t think so, but Cameron Hughes Wines (CHW) may be just the thing. Neither a vineyard, nor a winery with production facilities, the San Franciscobased, négociant modeled company has cultivated a significant following of wine lovers by offering very good wine at very good prices. Who are these guys?
Cameron Hughes, founder of the company that bears his name, began his involvement with wine sales at an early age. He first worked for his father, a veteran of the wine business, but became disenchanted with volume selling and joined a small French importing group before deciding to create his own product. His experience with big companies showed him he could make premium wine affordable. Amazingly, most CH Wines are in the $10-15 range. Comparable quality wines typically cost twice as much. What about the wine?
About the author:
Todd Sorenson, a resident of the Atlanta area, works in high tech as a vocation, and enjoys food and wine as an avocation.
More palate, less snob
At CHW, it’s all about unpretentious appreciation for the stuff in the glass—satisfying the palate, not snob appeal. If you have the means to fill a huge cellar with Premier Grand Cru, you’ve been blessed. For most of us reality involves finding a few cases of something yummy and that real-life budget balance between quality and cost. Having personally tried 30 or 40 CH wines, I can confirm that all have been a good value. None have disappointed. Many have delighted. They are definitely worth a try. Find out for yourself
You can purchase wine directly from www.chwine. com. The web site includes videos of Cameron tasting and commenting on the various wines, which is helpful in navigating through the number scheme labeling of the “Lot” series. The customer service, available by email (info@chwine.com) or phone (800-805-1971) is excellent. There is occasional availability at Sam’s Club® in the Orlando and Tampa area.<
Part of the “secret sauce” of CHW is their partnership with (unnamed) highend wineries and vineyards around the world, as they manage the process of crafting and bottling wines. They market the finished products as either as CHW “Lot” series (labeled simply with Lot numbers, with limited availability), or in the form of a few private brands that are available year round (sold as Cameron Hughes California, Hughes-Wellman, The Flying Winemaker, and Zin Your Face). They manage the process well enough to have earned superb reviews from Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Wine & Spirits, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, Food & Wine Magazine, and others. CHW consistently earns Platinum and Gold medals at wine competitions.

“We have an able and very capable staff that knows what to do down in the trenches,” says Chef Lozzi, head chef of BiCE. “We are a family and we all work together to complement each other’s strengths and build on weaknesses.” While clientele at BiCE have high expectations, Fiore and Lozzi work hard to meet and exceed them with new menu items and exceptional service every time. “Not only do we feed hotel guests, we work hard to make sure that our local guests feel at home,” says Lozzi. As the seasons change this year, Lozzi and his crew have added some new dishes to the menu that characterize the lighter fare many guests seek during the warmer months. “We’ve listened to our guests and have added a grilled chicken paillard, a delicious fresh fettuccine dish with scallops and shrimp, a crabstuffed salmon dish and a seafood salad that’s just spectacular,” says Lozzi. “The other 85% of our dishes remain the same, since they are the dishes that everyone enjoys in the BiCE restaurants around the globe,” says Fiore, “but the rest, we can play with.” There are over 20 BiCE locations around the world, including one in Milan, Italy, so the standard of the restaurants remains extremely high. “The restaurant here in Orlando is a kind of flagship, since we have people coming from all over the world,” says Lozzi, “we have to represent the brand in a way that exceeds expectation.”
General Manager Francesco Fiore and Head Chef Alessandro Lozzi team up to build BiCE even better for summertime.

> Voted Orlando’s favorite authentic Italian restaurant for years, BiCE at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel has weathered the storm of The Great Recession and come out on top. The inspired, new summer menu, vetted by General Manager Francesco Fiore and developed by Head Chef Alessandro Lozzi, brings freshness to the destination restaurant. It’s hard not to be inspired when you walk into BiCE. The cathedral ceilings, painted with Renaissance-style scenes of pastoral Italy put guests in the mood for traditional Italian fare and exceptional service. They’re never disappointed, either. With Fiore in the dining room, shepherding his staff of 20, guests are treated to personal service. “I listen to our guests’ needs. If we have something on special and it sounds like something they would enjoy, I make sure they hear about it,” says Fiore.
It’s all about the teamwork between the Neapolitan General Manager Fiore and the native Roman Chef Lozzi. “We feed on each other’s energy, working toward a common goal and have a mutual respect for each other,” says Fiore & Lozzi. They have quite a bit in common, too. They both grew up in Italy – Fiore still calls it home – and each has memories of the country that inspires the dishes and service that come from the restaurant. “Every Sunday when I was growing up in Napoli, we went to visit my grandmother, who still wakes up at six in the morning just to plan what to have for lunch or dinner,” says Fiore. “I come from a very traditional, maternal family and there is always food on the table. It’s just at mealtimes, there’s even more food.” Chef Lozzi has a specific boyhood memory that inspires his work at BiCE, and fuels his love of excellent Italian cheeses, which the restaurant showcases on the menu. “When I was going to school as a boy in Rome, my mother sometimes forgot to pack my lunch and I would stop at this deli that made fresh mozzarella every morning. I bought a ball of

it to have as my lunch, but sometimes, by the time I made it to school from the deli, it was already gone,” says Lozzi. “It was so good; it’s a memory I’ll never forget.” The staff at BiCE place special emphasis on quality and strive to leave their guests inspired and edified by the beautiful surroundings, the attentive staff and the fresh food, which is the essence of Italian cooking: fresh ingredients, prepared simply. Both Fiore and Lozzi work together every day in the restaurant to make sure every service goes impeccably. “We’re really lucky to work in a place that is so beautiful and inspires us every day,” says Lozzi. “We hope that every guest that dines with us feels the same way at the end of their meal.” With a team like this in the restaurant, it’s hard to see how they could fail.<

difference and benefiting a good cause alone allows you to enjoy yourself more. It’s a win-win situation. Craving good food and fun lately? If the answer is yes, you should have been at Crave’s one-year anniversary party held on May 2nd. Aside from the chic ambiance, Crave is the place to be for good-eats and fun beats. And while we’re still on the subject of food, let me just recommend some of my crave-favorites: I absolutely love the Mahi Mahi and Baked Cheese Penne. The complimentary appetizers were all so good. This place screams 2011: Sexy and modern. Need I say more?

> Hello my friends, so we meet again! I hope you have been keeping cool since it’s getting hotter by the day, and I’m not just talking temperature. Orlando is definitely the place to be this time of year. When the sun is shining bright and the feeling is just right, it’s time to jump in and enjoy the town all day… and all night. I started my series of enjoyment with delicious food at The Taste of Pointe Orlando to support Esophageal Cancer, as all proceeds benefited the Florida Hospital Esophageal Cancer program. Popular award-winning restaurants took part in the fundraiser, including Copper Canyon, Maggiano’s Little Italy, and let’s not forget Tommy Bahama’s Restaurant & Bar and their out-of-this-world pineapple cake. It was nonetheless a good time and for a good cause, not to mention, an excuse to eat until it hurt! Pointe Orlando has definitely become my go-to strip for cuisine diversity and exotic flavor. Cline Cellars Wine Tasting and Fundraiser was another wonderful event held in let’sfind-every-reason-to-sip-and-eat-April. Together with Vines Grille and Wine Bar, and in partnership with Living Beyond Breast Cancer, Cline Cellars donated $25,000 dollars to LBBC through sales of Cline Cashmere. Now let’s step out of the dining scene and talk about modern art and fashion. Those were two things you were certain to find at the Snap! Celebrate the Photograph event held at the new GAI building in downtown. A four-day extravaganza filled with exhibits, artist receptions, special events and a fashion night! What a night that was! It was so chic I felt like I was at a fancy event in an episode of Sex and The City. The view of downtown Orlando also validated that feeling, along with the lounge music and cotemporary lighting. It was totally my kind of scene, and a playground for those who love photography. Whether you’re getting married, or just in the mood to be pampered, the Una Donna Piu Bridal Show would have been the total package for you. From makeup to hair, skin care to nails, the salon offered it all and nothing less. And let me just say, two hours dedicated to non-stop glam is sometimes just what a girl needs. That’s why I say; a pampered girl is a happy girl. Feel free to take notes, guys. That’s a wrap and a sneak peak of the last couple of months. Can’t wait to see what the next couple months have in store for us, but one thing’s for sure, if it’s hot, Orlando Style Mag has it covered! Know of a not-to-be-missed event? Do tell!

Christina Perri By: Dana Damato Read more at: StyleToMe.com
> At just 23, Christina Perri has already lived a handful of lives. She’s toured the world as an assistant to a rock band, spent a year at a prestigious university, became a wife and then an ex-wife, produced popular music videos, made olive oil in Italy and even served as a fashionista barista in Beverly Hills. With all of the lives Perri lived, little did she know that soon her true-life dream would soon become a reality. On June 30th 2010, a raw, defiant break-up song that Perri had written called “Jar of Hearts” aired on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance. The song caught the attention of viewers, who began downloading it from iTunes sending “Jar of Hearts” into the Top 10 on the iTunes Pop chart and into the Top 15 on the Overall chart overnight. Not long after did the impressed producers of So You Think You Can Dance invited Perri to play the song live on the show two weeks later. Before this newfound fame, Perri was in London working as a gofer for her brother’s band Silvertide when she got word that she had been accepted to Philadelphia’s prestigious University of the Arts with a sizeable scholarship. She attended for a year, but took a leave of absence to visit her father’s extensive family in Italy. “I was 19 and I needed to soul search,” she says. “I was still writing music, but I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life.” Still searching, Perri moved to Los Angeles with a suitcase and a guitar. “I didn’t know anyone,” she says. “I did a lot of crying and a lot of songwriting.” On her fourth day in Los Angeles, Perri met a guy whom she fell in love with, and eloped four months later. The couple launched a production company and Perri worked as its executive producer, creating music videos and commercials. “In theory, it all sounds perfect,” she admits. “I had the house, the job, the dogs. It was the coolest life ever, but it was somebody else’s life.” Perri and her husband split

Though she’s a newcomer to the pop charts, Perri has actually been preparing for this moment since she was a child. Perri first sang in public at her Holy Communion at age six. Piano lessons began at age 8, followed by musical theater from age 11. Perri picked up a guitar and taught herself to play from watching VHS tapes of Blind Melon. Following Perri’s performance on July 15th, “Jar of Hearts” continued its sudden rise. After landing at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and at number 1 on Amazon’s digital singles chart, the track sold 200,000 downloads in three weeks. Being a rising star, Perri then signed a record deal with Atlantic Records.

Perri feels that “Jar of Hearts” has connected because, “on a basic level, everyone has had this experience with a person who broke their heart. I’m just telling my story in a very real and direct way.” The songs Perri is recording for her debut album is all about love. She excels at setting dark, tumultuous emotions to stunning, pretty melodies, something Fiona Apple and Alanis Morissette excelled at back in the day. “I would love to bring that back for a younger generation,” Perri says. “I had them to listen to when I was young, but girls today don’t really have their Fiona or Alanis. And writing about love and heartbreak is just who I am. I’ve tried so hard to write about other things, but ultimately this is what comes out of me. I have zero capability to do anything that is inauthentic to who I am.”<

and she decided to recommit herself to being a singer and a songwriter. “I locked myself in the house and wrote music,” she says. She also posted YouTube videos of herself performing her own songs, as well as covers, and shared her struggles in her uniquely humorous way. A video of one of her original compositions, “Tragedy,” caught the attention of Bill Silva Management who signed on to represent her. And so began Perri’s charmed odyssey.

> America’s values have changed a great deal over the last fifty years; unfortunately, not for the better. We have become a nation that craves ‘instant gratification’ and in order to satisfy these cravings we have all become addicted to something. When enough people are hooked on the same substance or behavior, it crosses the boundary into a cultural addiction. In Addict Nation, the latest book from Jane Velez-Mitchell, the feisty host of HLN’s Issues, Jane gets to the root of why a whole nation now needs an intervention! Addict Nation Is A Wake-up Call For America – Pay Attention To Its Message And Change Your Life Having hit the NY Times bestsellers list with her previous book, iWant, a very candid story of how Jane’s own addictive personality nearly ruined her life, it looks like she has done it again with her latest book Addict Nation: An Intervention for America (HCI Books -- $24.95). Jane points out how the media, government and private business act as ‘pushers’ in that they justify, romanticize, and promote these destructive behaviors and now we have a nation addicted to (take your pick)Easy drugs, food, alcohol, gambling, pornography, 2 shopping – even crime! It comes down to 6 2 a supply and demand situation.7Whenever 5 9 7 8 somebody absolutely has to have3 something that’s called demand, and addiction creates 5 9 6 enormous demand, which means there6 are 9 8

massive profits in supplying what we crave – so when it comes to combating addictive behavior, we are wasting taxpayer dollars by trying to engineer strictly political solutions. It goes without saying that addictions can be extremely expensive – both to individuals and the nation as a whole. The more widespread an addiction the more likely it is to be seen as normal, and since it often comes packaged as just a harmless distraction, by the time we realize something is wrong we are well and truly hooked! In fact, the most dangerous addictions are the ones we fail to even diagnose as addictive behavior because we have accepted them as normal. That’s why it has to be up to us as individuals to stop the insanity! Jane Velez-Mitchell candidly points out that addiction determines our behavior and this has led to a nation now dependent on dysfunctions that include obsessive cleanliness, food addictions, prescription drug dependency, sexual exploitation, over consumption, crime, and yes - even cruelty! Jane hopes that by bringing attention to our nation’s addictive culture, we can escape the hold our worst impulses have on us. Addict Nation is a well-researched, impressive and powerful book that tells a compelling story Hard about a society in denial and the repercussions 7 5 1 7 8 of its3 self-destructive behavior, showing what 5 4 6 America needs to do to get7 help and get well. 2 4 4 5 9 6 Never one to sugarcoat the truth,2 Jane Velez5 8 Mitchell’s latest book is no 9exception. < 3

By November 2011, Esterilsol™ will be manufactured in the United States and most vets should be carrying the product by that time.“It’s quick, involves no stitches and it is virtually painless,” says Mr. Tosini. “It is actually cheaper than traditional neutering because the dog does not have to be put under general anesthesia for the procedure.”

Dog owner and CEO of Ark Sciences, Joe Tosini, understood the wincing behind the word castrate. His product has become the world’s first FDA approved chemical sterilant for male dogs. The dog can receive a mild sedative before injections of Esterilsol™, which is made up of a Zinc Gluconate with L-Arginine, compound that sterilizes the animals with just one injection in each testicle. So, the good news is that Mr. Fido can keep his family jewels and the dog owner can be at ease in knowing his dog will not be victim

> Male dog owners often cringe at the thought of taking Mr. Fido to the vet to be stripped of his manhood. You know what I am talking about…”the snip heard around the world.” Well, fortunately for Mr. Fido there is a new way to suffice the owner’s intent of being a responsible pet owner while keeping Mr. Fido’s prized possessions from getting the cut. It is a product developed by Ark Sciences called Esterilsol™.
