Music and Movement Classes for Parents and Children • Birth to 24 months Psychologists, neuroscientists and experts in early childhood development have demonstrated that music helps the brain make the connections needed for virtually every kind of intelligence. Our Summit IGknight program is built on this research and led by Donna Dirksing Doran, Elementary Music Specialist at The Summit. Research shows when babies and toddlers are consistently engaged by music in an ageappropriate setting they benefit at many levels: • They gain the phonological processing, spoken language, and comprehension skills that are the foundation of reading. • They build the spatial-temporal and reasoning skills required for math and science. • They develop social and emotional skills that are essential for school readiness. • They develop their ability to regulate their responses and relate to others. • They improve their gross and fine motor skills through movement to music and playing simple instruments. Ignite your baby’s body and mind while experiencing music and movement together. Activities in these classes are designed to stimulate your baby’s mind and body and can be replicated at home. Aimed at the youngest musician, you and your child will strengthen your everlasting bond while exploring age-appropriate instruments, songs, stories, movement and dance. The Summit’s IGknight program is also a wonderful tool for school readiness. The children learn to socialize, take turns and share along with all the wonderful benefits of music. Each class is limited to 12 students. Out of respect for our registered members, please note that all siblings 5 months and older must be registered for class in order to attend.

Except in the case of twins, each sibling needs to have his or her own caregiver to work with during class.
