Bay of Plenty and Waikato secondary school choirs are today singing for a place at the Big Sing National Finale. Only 16 out of about 260 New Zealand choirs go through to the national final. Among those trying to reach the big notes are two choirs from Tauranga Girls’ College. The school’s chorale has made the national finale seven times in the last 10 years. Head of music Stephanie Geor says the girls have been rehearsing intensely to make the finale again. The regional final is open today to the public, at the Bethlehem College Performing Arts Centre from 9.30am to 2.30pm. Pictured: Choir members Gandi Broersma, Kamaea Harry, Aimee Smith, Stella Kim,
