Whatever it is, this—the racial hypersensitivity without racial justice, the kowtowing to politically correct bullies with no regard for anyone else’s free speech rights, the violent blowback after years of governmentsanctioned brutality, the mob mindset that is overwhelming the rights of the individual, the oppressive glowering of the Nanny State, the seemingly righteous indignation full of sound and fury that in the end signifies nothing, the partisan divide that grows more impassable with Tyrant, Page 5A

Dr. White offers the following advice to developing non-linear critical thinking: Step out of your comfort zone. “Critical thinking requires that we see and interpret information from a different perspective,” Dr. White says. “In our old comfort zones we weren’t necessarily required to make difficult decisions. But navigating COVID requires taking steps to adapt to new circumstances. For companies, it means being nimble, finding opportunities and ways to innovate. It may mean drastically reducing a brick-and-mortar footprint in favor of a digital presence. It may mean dumping obsolete inventory at a discount.

Or it may mean lay-offs.”

Dr. White thinks many people have closed minds and don’t adapt well to change. “In military training, one is taught to pivot, to escape and adapt, since there is no such thing as a perfect set of circumstances,” he says. “The species that is capable of adapting well is the species that survives.”

Don’t jump to conclusions.

“When jumping out of your comfort zone,” Dr. White says, “be careful not to jump to conclusions as well. Instead, ask ques-

tions, and organize and evaluate information. For instance, business owners should be asking, is now the right time to be reopening? Who says the pandemic is over? Who is cautioning against reopening? What will reopening look like? Coming to a valid conclusion requires study-

ing the available data: what is happening in other parts of the world, the country, or the industry?

“One criterion we rely on is, what do experts say? What are the credentials of these experts?

Carefully evaluating data has never been more crucial than

Separate truth from belief.

“People often have trouble separating what is valid from what is true because of ingrained beliefs, which we all have. This ‘belief bias’ interferes with our ability to think logically,” Dr. White says.

At that point Napoleon became very angered that people would have the audacity to harm the Temple of such good people, and inquired further to where the damage was, as whatever parts he saw still looked intact. No no, they explained. “We’re mourning for the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, the Beit Hamikdash, that was destroyed by Rome over 1700 years ago. Once a year on Tisha B’Av, the 9th day on the Jewish month of Av, we get together to read the Book of Lamentations and mourn the Temple’s destruction while praying that we very soon merit its rebuilding.”

After completing the building of the Second Temple in 3412 (349 bce), it too was destroyed on the 9th of Av, this time by the Romans in 3829 (69 ce). That was also the day on which the Jews were expelled from Spain in 5252 (1492 ce), the start of World War I in 5674 (1914 ce) and the Gush Katif expulsion in 5765 (2005 ce).

Yoga in the Park The City of Aventura offers a series of complimentary yoga classes at Founders Park for all yogis of all skill levels to enjoy.

Held outdoors in the City’s beautiful Founders Park, these classes offer the perfect atmosphere to relax, breath and stretch together with the help of a certified instructor. For one brief moment in the wake of George Floyd’s death, it seemed as if finally “we the people” might put aside our differences long enough to stand united in outrage over the government’s brutality.

That sliver of unity didn’t last.

We may be worse off now than we were before.

Suddenly, no one seems to be talking about any of the egregious governmental abuses that are still wreaking havoc on our freedoms: police shootings of unarmed individuals, invasive surveillance, roadside blood draws, roadside strip searches, SWAT team raids gone awry, the military industrial complex’s costly wars, pork barrel spending, pre-crime laws, civil asset forfeiture, fusion centers, militarization, armed drones, smart policing carried out by AI robots, courts that march in lockstep with the police state, schools that function as indoctrination centers, bureaucrats that keep the Deep State in power.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

How do you persuade a populace to embrace totalitarianism, that goosestepping form of tyranny in which the government has all of the power and “we the people” have none You persuade the people that the menace they face (imaginary or not) is so sinister, so overwhelming, so fearsome that the only way to surmount the danger is by empowering the government to take all necessary steps to quash it, even if that means allowing government jackboots to trample all over the Constitution.

This is how you use the politics of fear to persuade a freedom-endowed people to shackle themselves to a dictatorship.

Having allowed our fears to be codified and our actions criminalized, we now find ourselves in a strange new world where just about everything we do is criminalized, even our ability to choose whether or not to wear a mask in public during the COVID19 pandemic.

Strangely enough, in the face of outright corruption and incompetency on the part of our elected officials, Americans in general remain relatively gullible, eager to be persuaded that the government can solve the problems that plague us, whether it be terrorism, an economic depression, an environmental disaster, or a global pandemic.

We have relinquished control over the most intimate aspects of our lives to government officials who, while they may occupy seats of authority, are neither wiser, smarter, more in tune with our needs, more knowledgeable about our problems, nor more aware of what is really in our best interests.

The lesson is this: once a free people allows the government inroads into their freedoms or uses those same freedoms as bargaining chips for security, it quickly becomes a slippery slope to outright tyranny.

Nor does it seem to matter whether it’s a Democrat or a Republican at the helm anymore.

Indeed, the bureaucratic mindset on both sides of the aisle now seems to embody the same philosophy of authoritarian government, whose priorities are to milk “we the people” of our hard-earned money (by way of taxes, fines and fees) and remain in control and in power.

Modern government in general is acting illogically, even psychopathically.

What they don’t want us talking about is the fact that the government is corrupt, the system is rigged, the politicians don’t represent us, the electoral college is a joke, most of the candidates are frauds, and, as I point out in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, we as a nation are repeating the mistakes of history—namely, allowing a totalitarian state to reign over us.

As we once again find ourselves faced with the prospect of voting for the

Broward Ramps Up Enforcement: To Keep Our Economy Open As the number of COVID-19 cases, positivity rates and hospitalizations continue to rise, due in part to some patrons and businesses not complying with local emergency orders, it has become necessary for Broward County to increase its regulatory efforts and increase penalties for those who violate emergency orders.

Broward County’s actions are designed to contain the renewed and rapid spread of the virus, as South Florida remains the state’s epicenter for cases of COVID-19.

This past week, Broward County Administrator Bertha Henry issued Emergency Order 20-21, which is an all-inclusive order to clarify previous Emergency Orders. The Order was effective at 12:01 AM on Friday, July 10, 2020.

All businesses that violate local emergency orders will be forced to close for 24 hours after

their first citation, with each subsequent citation incurring an additional 72 hours of closure (e.g. 96 hour closure after a second citation, 168 hour closure after a third citation etc.).

Residents are urged to report business violations online at Mybroward.Broward.org or call 311. Both types of reports can be made anonymously. Code and law enforcement officers may shut down businesses that are in non-compliance. To track business violations in your community, visit Broward.org/ Coronavirus.

The American Community Gardening Association recognizes that community gardening improves people’s quality of life by providing a catalyst for neighborhood and community development, stimulating social interaction, encouraging selfreliance, beautifying neighborhoods, producing nutritious food, reducing family food budgets, conserving resources and creating opportunities for recreation, exercise, therapy, and education.

Getting Started To start gardening, Green Garden membership and garden section rental are required.

Members must be Aventura residents. Garden sections will be assigned in the order that the applications and required fees are received.

The annual fee for one garden

section is $110. Membership is valid for one year from the registration date. New members may join at any time during the year, providing they are 18 years of age or older.

Aircraft Built for Clean Air Guarantees Air Quality Akin To a Clinical Operating Room The Lufthansa Group continues to ramp up its services to the United States, resuming flights to its key, global gateways. This week, the Group’s flagship carrier, Lufthansa, will resume service to Miami, FL, operating three weekly flights from Miami International Airport to the airline’s largest hub in Frankfurt, Germany, starting on July 15.

Lufthansa is continuing to meet the demand of its loyal customers throughout the United States and will now connect the South Florida region to its growing network of international destinations that are slowly easing travel restrictions.

The resumed route will operate out of Miami on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays using an Airbus A340300 with a three-class configuration of Business, Premium Economy and Economy classes. Initially, flights will operate three times per week in July. Beginning July 29 until October 24, the end of the summer schedule, the flights increase to five times weekly.

“The Lufthansa Group is committed to connecting passengers and serving as a bridge between the continents.

We are especially excited to resume service for our Miamibased customers as we expand our network connections for the benefit of all travelers in this global city,” said Larry Ryan,

By the end of October, over 70 percent of the originally planned long-haul routes will be operated by the Group carriers.

Additionally, 90 percent of all originally planned short-and medium-haul destinations will be served again.

Throughout the summer months, Lufthansa is adding important connections for its local Miami-area customers traveling to Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India. These include flights within Germany, as well as to other countries including Austria, France, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland. Flights to Israel have already resumed, and connections to the UAE began on July 3.

More than 2,000 weekly flights to over 130 destinations worldwide will be operated by the Lufthansa Group carriers in the remaining months of the summer season.

Teach Your Children To Avoid The Mistakes You Made With Money Numerous surveys show that many Americans live paycheck to paycheck, have little saved for retirement, and lack fundamental financial knowledge. This has become very apparent during the current Covid-19 economic crisis.

Part of the problem, experts say, is that financial literacy has not been emphasized in American education; only 21 states require high school students to take a personal finance-related class. If parents want their children to learn the value of money and how to avoid financial problems as adults, the education has to start at home, says Steve Kruman (www.brycewealth.com), a financial planner and investment advisor at Bryce Wealth Management.

“When they understand their parents’ financial situation and gain an understanding of financial literacy,” Kruman says, “they are more likely to appreciate the gifts they are given, or aren’t to be given, and why.”

“Summer is the ideal time to teach financial literacy to children

because they can get real handson experience they need.

Teaching a child to be financially literate will help them understand that they have to take personal responsibility to be financially secure when mom and dad aren’t there to put the food on the table for them.”

Kruman offers the following at-home teaching methods to help children learn financial literacy: Gardening and investing The parent purchases seeds and other starting materials at a garden supply store and has the children keep track of the spending by item on a notepad.

“As you work together in the garden, keep a time log of each family member working,” Kruman says. “When it’s harvest time, teach them to count up the cost of production. Help them determine the value of their produce by comparing store prices of the same product, minus the cost of production.

They will learn that you can start small as an investor, but putting in more effort along the way makes things grow.”

Working and budgeting Kruman says parents can undercut their teaching of financial literacy by handing out spending money whenever their child wants something. “To learn good financial skills,” Kruman says, “work needs to be taught.

They learn they are rewarded for effort, not just for showing up.

With their finite amount of money, they can be taught what they’ll have to do as adults – divide it up for bills, spending money, and savings – and that it doesn’t grow on trees every month.”

Saving and staying out of debt “A good lesson for your children to learn about debt would be to show them how a loan would work by you being the lender,” Kruman says. “Have them think of something that they would like to buy (such as a new bicycle or laptop) but that they don’t have enough money saved already.

You could offer to help them make the purchase much earlier than continuing to save for it, but only in exchange for a loan payment that would be made by reducing their chore money. That

way, they would learn how debt eats up their earning power. You have to instill in them that savings isn’t an option, but rather a necessity, so people don’t become slaves to debt.”

Toys and depreciation “Teach them to look at their toys and clothes,” Kruman says. “Toys wear out. Children’s toys and adults’ expensive items, such as cars, need to be purchased to replace old ones, and teaching an understanding of that principle of depreciation is essential to teaching your kids why people need savings.

Help them understand depreciation by asking them to compare prices of toys being sold at a yard sale versus a similar toy being sold at a new price online or in a store.”
