Eddie & Vinny’s Coastal Italian

The Exquisite, Italian-Inspired Menu Is Led by Award-Winning Chef Jeff Tunks

The wait is finally over! Eddie & Vinny’s Coastal Italian is now open for dinner in the heart of Coral Springs. The hotlyanticipated new restaurant, taking over the former Tavolino Della Notte space, is the passion project of Eddie and Christina Pozzuoli, alongside partner Paul Greenberg (formerly of American Social), the talented owners behind P Hospitality Management (which also includes the popular Corvina Seafood Grill and Prezzo Restaurants). Located at 10181 West Sample Road, Coral Springs, Florida 33065, Eddie & Vinny’s brings a taste of culinary excellence with fresh, seasonal cuisine inspired by the Italian seaside, along with an array of Italian classics, an exceptional wine list, sophisticated cocktails, a chic and sophisticated design and a lively ambiance. “This is a family business if ever there was one,” says Eddie, who’s father opened and operated Tavolino. “This space is where we fell in love with the restaurant business and introducing something new and exciting in a place overflowing with so many good memories is amazing. Opening our newest restaurant in this community is a dream come true.”

The 230-seat, indoor-outdoor space, designed by Anna Woodman and built by Cannatelli Builders, features a completely reimagined look that melds Mediterranean touches with contemporary elegance. Dark blues, caramel wood tones, brassy gold, black and white touches create an atmosphere of opulence and sophistication. Views into the kitchen, spacious and airy dining area, a swanky new bar and lounge meld seamlessly into one another to create a bustling and convivial atmosphere. The restaurant boasts a sleek, sexy design, plush bar stools and banquette seating, all perfect for enjoying a stellar lineup of live entertainment. Layered gold pendant lighting, black canvas exposed ceilings and personal wine lockers –reflecting the bespoke wine membership that will be available – complete the look. A bustling bar welcomes guests as they step through the front door, setting a scintillating tone for an evening well-spent in Coral Springs. Perfect for private parties of all kinds are two private spaces, Eddie’s Room and Vinny’s Room, each named after the Pozzuoli children and the restaurant’s namesakes.

The exquisite, Italian-inspired menu is led by award-winning Chef Jeff Tunks, the talent behind the Corvina concept in Boca Raton and Chef David Garcia, Corporate Executive Chef for Prezzo Restaurants. Garcia has now taken on the role of Executive Chef at Eddie & Vinny’s.

The menu features a variety of Raw & Cold Starters, Warm Appetizers, Salads, Fresh Pasta, Chicken, Fish, Prime Cuts, Sides and Desserts, promising a memorable dining experience for all. Dishes include starters such as Blue Crab Bruschetta – jumbo lump crab,

Beef Carpaccio – black truffle aioli, charred cipollini onions, arugula and blue cheese; The Wagyu Meatball - crispy cheese polenta, marinara and basil ricotta cheese; Chargrilled Octopus - Heirloom tomato, cannellini beans, panzanella, tomato pesto and Ricotta Salata and Steamed PEI Mussels “Sorrento” – sundried tomatoes, thyme, Limoncello cream and grilled focaccia.

House-made pastas are plentiful with dishes like Spicy Rigatoni Vodka; Malfadine Cacio E Pepe; Lobster Linguine Fra Diavolo and Lasagna “Timballo Teramo” – Abruzzo-style layered Crepe Lasagna, Wagyu Bolognese and Four Cheese Mornay. Entrees run the gamut

Cowboy Ribeye Steak with rosemary & balsamic glazed cipollini onions. Of course, diners craving beloved classics (chicken parmigiana anybody?) will not be disappointed.

Freshly made desserts, an Italianinfluenced wine list, various classic and creative cocktails are also available.

The backstory: With its soulful Italian fare, ambitious cocktail program, and live entertainment, back in the day Tavolino, the brainchild of Ed Pozzuoli Sr., Eddie’s father, was the place to be in Coral Springs. Tavolino premiered in 2007 by Pozzuoli Sr. and partner Thomas Genduso. For more than a dozen years

hood destination for diners seeking meticulously executed Italian cuisine and a bustling lounge scene with live music. Eddie and Christina had been with the iconic restaurant since 2012, helping it grow into what it ultimately became. The restaurant changed ownership in June 2019 and ultimately closed in March 2024, although the property remained owned by the Pozzuoli family.

Eddie & Vinny’s is located at 10181 West Sample Road, Coral Springs, Florida 33065. The restaurant serves dinner daily from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. For additional information, please visit: www.eddieandvinnys.com and follow Eddie & Vinny’s on Instagram at: @eddieandvinnys.

Exercise and Enrichment: Rabbits need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and healthy. The class will provide fun and easy ways to enrich your bunny’s life, from toys to activities that will keep them engaged.

Why This Class is Important

While bunnies might look cute and cuddly, they are not low-maintenance pets. They are intelligent, social animals that thrive in environments where their needs are understood and met. Unfortunately, many people impulsively adopt rabbits around Easter, only to realize that they are not prepared for the responsibility. In fact, springtime often sees a rise in bunny adoptions, which means a rise in abandoned rabbits once the novelty wears off. By attending the Bunny Basics class, you’ll be better equipped to provide a lifelong home for your furry friend, and help reduce the number of rabbits that end up in shelters. Signing up for the class is easy and free! Simply call 954-579-5101 or email Heather at underdogbehavior@gmail.com to reserve your spot. The class will be held via Zoom, so you can join from the comfort of your home, whether you’re a current bunny owner or still considering adopting one.

The Humane Society of Broward County The Humane Society of Broward County is a private, non-profit organization that has been serving the community for years. The shelter relies on donations from people and businesses to help fund their programs and services, which include animal adoption, medical care, and educational outreach.

If you’re looking to adopt a bunny, a dog, a cat, or another pet, be sure to visit the shelter at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale, or check out their website at www.humanebroward.com to learn more. The adoption department is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., and you can also find details about their low-cost vaccine clinic, upcoming events, and donation opportunities.

If you’re thinking about adding a bunny to your family this Easter, don’t rush into it. Take the time to educate yourself about proper rabbit care, and sign up for the Bunny Basics class to ensure you’re fully prepared. Rabbits can be wonderful companions when given the right care, so hop on over to register today!

Sports Can Empower Young Women To Conquer Challenges

As someone who has spent a career studying the impact of athletics on mental and physical health, I see a strong correlation between this disparity and a troubling trend. In recent years, girls have experienced substantial declines in mental health relative to boys. Between 2011 and 2021, the number of girls who felt persistently sad or hopeless increased from 36% to 57%, nearly double the number for boys.

Boosting the number of girls in sports could go a long way toward improving their mental and physical health, along with their general wellbeing.

A recent report from the Women’s Sports Foundation looked at data from several academic studies. Mental health disorders were 1.5 to 2.5 times less common for girls who currently play a sport compared to those who never have. Girls who participate in athletics also reported significantly higher levels of meaning and purpose, as well as stronger peer relationships.

The gender disparity in athletic participation points to an opportunity. More sports involvement can help girls improve their physical and emotional health.

Julie Newmar will take place at The Well and later that evening will be the closing night in-person film Four Mothers, Ireland/United Kingdom, 2024, at Savor Cinema, located at 503 Southeast 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301. Last week, I had an opportunity to be in our city at a Mayor’s Forum hosted by The Realtors. It is always a great chance to highlight our city and update the Broward County real estate industry on city issues. I had the chance to answer a few questions about affordable housing and homeownership. A representative that services mortgages inquired about how we can better help residents afford a

ment assistance, Neighborhood Improvement grants, emergency rental assistance and even senior assistant programs. While we have many programs to help our residents, my response included that all clients need to understand home ownership is simply not about a mortgage but the financial stability of the applicant.

During the 2008 bubble many applicants were given mortgages that truly could not afford a home. This led to the crisis of 2008. I sat on the Hallandale Beach Housing Board back then and had to tell many applicants even though you are approved your income does not work. All property owners’ single-family, multifamily or condominium have the shared responsibility of maintaining their property. If they are not keeping it in shape they will end up in Code Enforcement. Our city continues to work hard to address many issues, but we cannot do everything. Private property is just that, private. There are shared responsibilities. Property owners must maintain not simply their building but all land including their swales. We do not cut trees nor pick up debris and illegal dumping. The complaint I often get is “It is your swale not mine.”

Main corridors like Hallandale Beach

have an interlocal agreement to keep landscaping and in some cases parking with the agencies that do. In all other cases, owners must keep clean and support sidewalks and swales.

Another big expense residents are not prepared for is the fact water, sewer and drainage beyond the meter, interconnections and in parking lots are the responsibility of the property owner. If you have a broken line on your property, you must fix it. These types of breaks can cost thousands of dollars. We as a city will not go on to property and fix them.

Many single-family owners are not aware that there is Service Line Insurance. There are multiple companies that provide insurance. For years, our city has partnered with the National League of Cities and their Service Line Insurance Program. This program will repair lines that break. The one thing that they will not do is ensure breaks under homes that require extensive repairs to foundations. This would be your homeowner’s insurance.

In addition to line repair, the Service Line Insurance offers to reimburse 2500 towards water bills from leaks in your home. A simple break in a pipe can cost hundreds of dollars in bills that must be

In December, I asked that we invite the NLC Representative to provide a presentation to our commission to develop awareness of the earth program and its benefits presentation. As a city, we know many of our city pipes are well over 40 years old. This means many homes have aging pipes. In the State of Florida property owners are not aware that they must now have those pipes inspected and cleaned. I have great concern about the added cost burden this will have on our already struggling families. This program or another that can help offset these types of unexpected costs is the goal. You can sign up for this program through: https://partnerships.homeserve .com/water-solutions/water-leak-solution2/ - Through the partnership the fee is under ten dollars and will be added to your monthly water bill. Please, for more information, visit their site or call: 1 (866) 974-4801.

Annual Epilepsy Walk In Hollywood To Be Held This Weekend

The Walk Is The Largest Local Event That Raises Awareness And Funds For Individuals Living With Epil

Epilepsy Alliance Florida will host its annual Walk the Talk for Epilepsy in Hollywood on Saturday, April 5th, 2025— the largest community event in the area that raises awareness and funds for individuals living with epilepsy. The walk will be held at North Beach Park, located 3601 North Ocean Drive, Hollywood, Florida 33019 with a start time of 9:00 a.m. The Hollywood Walk the Talk for Epilepsy, sponsored by UCB, Aquestive, Memorial Neuroscience Institute, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Assertio, Holman Enterprise, Jazz Pharmaceuticals, The Salah Foundation and Catalyst Pharmaceuticals, will feature a two-mile walk and family-friendly entertainment, including a live DJ, face painting and special appearances by Star Wars characters.

“Epilepsy makes daily life a difficult journey for many individuals,” said Karen Basha Egozi, President and CEO of Epilepsy Alliance Florida. “This event, which unites us as one, highlights the essential support we provide to over 500,000 Floridians affected by epilepsy and helps to shine a light on the importance of awareness in our local communities.”

Ten-year-old Mauro Gomez will be honored at the event with Epilepsy Alliance Florida’s Clayton Feig Youth Award, an award commemorating youth who battle seizures and that highlights the important work of those dedicated to removing the stigma associated with epilepsy. The award was established in memory of Clayton Feig, a young man who demonstrated courage and strength of character while dealing with epilepsy. Complications from epilepsy claimed Clayton’s life in 1993 when he was just 18-years-old.

Diagnosed last year after experiencing nocturnal seizures, seizures that occur during sleep, Mauro has refused to let epilepsy define him. Mauro’s commitment to raising epilepsy awareness has already taken him to Tallahassee for Epilepsy Alliance Florida’s Capitol Day, where he

met with state legislators in February to share his story and emphasize the need for greater resources and funding for those living with epilepsy. His advocacy extends beyond Florida’s Capitol. He has expressed interest in starting an epilepsy club at his school to help educate his peers and foster a more supportive environment. Additionally, he and his family are dedicated participants in Epilepsy Alliance Florida’s annual Walk the Talk for Epilepsy in Hollywood.

Epilepsy, a neurological disease that one in 26 people will be diagnosed with at some point in their lives, is a diagnosis given when a person experiences two or

more seizures that cannot be attributed to another cause. It is a disorder more peo ple live with than autism, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy—combined. In the United States, Florida is the state with the most instances of epilepsy.

The Hollywood Walk the Talk for Epilepsy is one of seven walks hosted by Epilepsy Alliance Florida across the state. The other cities where walks will be held are Jacksonville, Gainesville, West Palm Beach, Pensacola, Miami, and Naples. For more information and to register, visit: https://walkthetalkfl.org/
