Coming To Grips - Again

As Horrific As The Douglas High Shooting Was, It Can Happen Again

Aaron Feis was one of those people you liked the first time you met him. A football coach and a school security officer at Douglas High in Parkland, he is one of 17 shot and killed last Wednesday. Will this ever stop?

Chris Hixon Was A True Shining Star! As a coach and as an athletic director, he was tough and disciplined. As a father, husband, co-worker and friend, Chris Hixon was pure gold. Hixon was one of those people you met once and felt he was already your friend. He loved his family, his job and those he worked with every day. Last Wednesday, Hixon, Page 3B

Former South Broward High Athletic Director, Coach Is Remembered After Douglas High Shooting.

By Larry Blustein sfsuntimes@aol.com With emotions pouring out like never before, back on Dec. 14. 2012, family members, community leaders and the nation proclaimed that what happened in Newtown, Ct. at Sandy Hook Elementary School, would “never happen again!” Since that moment -

on a cold winter day - that scene has played out over 300 times worldwide and well over 125 painful and heart-wrenching times in the United States. Usually one person, who was shot and killed or took their own life. Last week in beautiful Parkland, in the far northwest reaches of Broward

County, the nation once again saw what happened as one person with an apparent severe mental problem - gunned down 17 at Douglas High School. But we all know by now, and as this latest tragedy is so fresh in all of our minds, the ideas are flowing, the rage is

Management of White Patches Are Vital For Dental Health Patients Will Need To Be Very Concerned About The Possibility of The Lesions Being - or Becoming Cancerous White patches are a worrying finding for patients, in particular with concern arising about the possibility of the lesions being or becoming cancerous. If the patient is aware of the white patch, its duration and any associated symptoms should be recorded. Details of whether the lesion was noticed following any particular event, e.g. trauma, or change in medication, should likewise be noted. Whether there has been any change in the appearance or symptoms associated with the lesion at all since it was first noticed, e.g. Does it vary in location or size? Does it come and go? - should also be recorded. Patients should be asked if they have become aware of any new skin lesions alongside the problems reported intra-orally. A medical history should be included and, in particular, cover aspects such

as medication, especially new medications, family history of similar oral symptoms and any history of immunological disease. Alongside details of the medical history, patients should be asked about smoking and drinking habits and if they have any other habits, such as use of tobacco in the mouth other than in a smoking manner.

ExAMInATIon Many patients will be previously unaware of the presence of the white patch and so the examination findings become the basis of diagnosis and treatment planning. Features of note in the examination are the site of the lesion and whether it is an isolated lesion or there are several lesions. An assessment is required of whether the lesion is Bobadilla, Page 2A,
