Reducing Area Power Outages
Trees & Power Lines Have Long Been A Recipe For Disaster By Larry Blustein sfsuntimes@aol.com Robert Collins remembers it well. It was Saturday night last September 9th at 8, and he was ready to watch a football game. Just as he sat down, he heard a noise and saw a flash out of his window. Everything went dark for nearly a week. While the wind was heavier than usual, the culprit that did Collins and his neighbors in happened to be a tree that
was virtually on top of the power line. It wasn’t the first time. “Five people in our community had personally contacted this gentlemen about the tree, which had been the problem in at least three outages over the past four years,” Collins explained. “We lost power 27 hours before any other area in our neighborhood - and that is becoming a problem.” In the past, the cities and Florida Power & Light have done nothing more
than tell homeowners the dangers about trees and power lines, but things are about to change - at least in parts of Broward County. Hollywood residents are much wiser this year after going through a brush with Hurricane Irma.
This Week’s Storms Had Us On Edge For The Season Ahead 1st Priority Restoration Knows All About Flooding & Mildew Problems That Exist From the way the weather is stacking up this week, you know that we are indeed ready for the rainy season. That means that as the heat of the day reaches its peak, the storms will build and the heavy rains will fall. As we all know and understand, it is now just weeks away from the hurricane season, and that is something that we have all become used to this time of year. The friendly reminder this past week, with the heavy rains and the flooding that occurred in just a few hours, makes us all feel great about having a company like 1st Priority Restoration. Realizing that we live in an area
that does experience heavy rain and flooding, this is an area business that is all about giving the customer that "peace of mind.” Even while we are still thinking about Hurricane Irma - or any tropical system that can come ashore and ruin our summer - there are many who learned from what transpired in the weeks and months following 2017. But even if a storm does not threaten South Florida, it’s those daily thunderstorms, much like this past week, and pounding rain that can do plenty of damage.
