Job Market Is Not The Most Promising 2018 College Graduates Will Have To Be Ultra Creative To Survive In This Economy

Last year at this time, the job market was much better for those coming out of college. This June, not so much. Graduates are becoming more flexible.

By Larry Blustein sfsuntimes@aol.com Back on June 2, Andi Solomon walked across the stage at the University of Central Florida, received her diploma as friends and family members applauded. That night, there were parties, a dinner with family and friends and a celebration, proclaiming that she had completed her four year undergraduate degree in business. Returning to her home in Hallandale Beach last week, Solomon, who had

sent out letters to companies nationally - and even did an internship with an insurance company after her junior year - she was down and out. “The one thing that I said to myself when I left here four years ago is that I will have a job when I graduate,” Solomon said. “I felt that after I did the insurance company internship last summer was the key. I did everything in my power to impress, hoping that just one of the many people I worked with would recommend me for

a position.” Like so many college graduates, Solomon was slapped with a dose of reality that just about everyone faces. The job market is tight and a temporary plan needs to be in place. While colleges can teach and instruct - and even point you in directions where the jobs may be - they cannot force the market to be better. That’s where college graduates have always learned to be flexible and creative.

Hallandale Beach City Manager Joins The School Board and Municipal Officials To Find Funding For Hiring Additional School Resource Officers Earlier this week, City Manager Roger M. Carlton participated in a Broward County School Board panel to discuss school public safety and funding for the School Resource Officer (SRO) program. Currently, there are three schools within City boundaries served by three SROs. The County funds approximately 30 percent of the costs for the SROs that are part of the program. Today’s discussion focused on policy development and strategic planning for expansion of the program mandated by SB 7026 which was enacted as a result of the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas events. Mr. Carlton was joined with City Managers from the Cities of Parkland, Weston and Fort Lauderdale. Best practices and program capabilities were shared. Outcomes of this Officers, Page 2A

The Maxillary Sinus: Challenges and Treatments for Implant Placement

Standard Implant placement in the posterior maxilla is often limited by the lack of vertical bone height due to the pneumatization of the sinus cavity. Several techniques have been developed to enter this cavity and elevate the membrane to enable implant placement. These methods may involve the use of bone grafts and membranes, as well as concurrent implant placement. This article reviews the clinical situations in which to apply these sinus lift techniques, complications and success rates.

ANATOMY OF THE MAXILLARY SINUS The maxillary sinus is the largest paranasal sinus. It is pyramidal, with the base lying vertically

on the medical surface of the lateral nasal wall. The sinus floor is 5mm to 12.5mm below the floor of the nasal wall of the nose. The maxillary sinus is surrounded by six bony walls," and its enlargement is termed sinus pneumatiziation. The sinus floor expands with age and is often in close relationship with the apices of the maxillary molars and premolars. With tooth lose, the antrum of further expands and the sinus may join the crest of the residual alveolar" ridge. The septa may divide the sinus. A variable number of septa, referred to as Underwood's septa, has Bobadilla, Page 3A
