Turning Up The Heat This Summer

Dangerous Temperatures & High Humidity Have Locals Running For Cover & Hydration By Larry Blustein sfsuntimes@aol.com As Alicia Rey held an umbrella over her head, walking along Hollywood Boulevard on Saturday morning, she could hardly believe the heat. Okay, we do live in south Florida, and hot weather is always expected, but when we get these patterns where its 100 degrees - with high humidity - it gives the new meaning of “amazingly hot.” “The very fact that it’s before noon and it ‘feels

like the temperature is 90, should tell you that this is going to be one of those days,” Rey said. “I know that we have to be prepared - and that you do as much as possible, but there is no way to prepare for this weather.” As many look to stay indoors throughout the summer - there are those like Ricky Williams who just cannot escape this heat, heavy rains and lightning and the end of the day humidity. “I have a landscaping business, and as much as

we try to start before 6 a.m. most days, we have bills to pay and have to work well into the heat of the day,” Williams pointed out. “It comes down to being like an athlete. You have to hydrate the night before and continue to pour liquids into your body all day.” In addition, the clothing you wear makes a major difference as well, and being exposed to the intense sun throughout the course of a day Heat, Page 7A

ATTENTION CONDO ASSOCIATIONS

Time Is Running Out To File - Or Reopen Your Hurricane Irma Claims - Call (954) 455-1380

As we are now in July, and we have gone almost two months in the new hurricane season, many are still looking back to last September and the damage that Hurricane Irma did. While the storm didn’t impact this region the way many feared it could, there was still damage done to many homes and businesses - and that still lingers some 10 months after.

If you were one of many who was denied, underpaid or did not meet the deductible, you actually have two years to reopen your claim, and that’s where DisasterStruck Public Adjusters Inc. can come to the rescue, when you thought that you would never get any assistance. In talking to owner Ilya Levitis, you will find a man who is on that same mission as all of us are. He

knows exactly what it’s like to recover from leaks, fires, roof damage and even vandalism. Having Disasterstruck Public Adjusters on your side is huge! "What we do is pretty simple," Levitis said. "We basically fight for the rights of the homeowners, condo association owners, and condo associations. We try to get our Claims, Page 3A

The Shops At Dania Pointe: The Future Will Be Here

By Larry Blustein sfsuntimes@aol.com Dania Beach - You can see it every day as you ride around the City. The face of Dania Beach is changing - and yes that is a good thing. A very good thing. With the old time charm still very much in place in

many areas, this community is now becoming a destination as well as home to so many. With new hotels and restaurants - along with residential communities - popping up all the time, this is certainly NOT the Dania Beach that many have known for decades. “I love what’s going on around us,” Mary Tate-

Walker said. “A business owner here in Dania Beach for three years and this is why we came here. I can see things starting to take shape.” From the beaches right through to where I-95 serves as a gateway, this community has continued to
