‘Not On Our Streets!’ Forrest, Hood and Lee Streets will no longer be part of Hollywood By Larry Blustein sfsuntimes@aol.com Hollywood – April Caputo stood outside City Hall last week with a sign that told the mood of this day. As the mother of three joined dozens of protestors who were on hand to make sure that the legacy of slavery and the Civil War would have no place on the streets of Hollywood, she let her emotions out. With a sign that read: “Not On Our Streets!” – the true feelings of what residents’ had long felt as the names of confederate generals were honored

with street names. Generals Robert E. LEE, John Bell HOOD and perhaps one of the most famous, Nathan Bedford FORREST, have long been a part of the landscape. Not anymore! Last week, Mayor Josh Levy, and Commissioners Kevin Biederman, Debra Case, Dick Blattner and Linda Sherwood all voted to remove the signs.
