Aventura Jazz Festival: The Inaugural Music Extravaganza

The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center will host Latin Grammy Award Winning Musician, Nominees and local favorites during the Inaugural Aventura Jazz Festival.

Incomparable Jazz Drummer Art Blakey once said that “Jazz washes away the dust of everyday life.” After Hurricane Ian posed a precipitous threat to our Aventura neighborhood before engulfing our west Florida sister cities in torrential weather conditions, locals are seeking fall solace and sunshine in the form of musi cal concerts enabling them to escape the stark realities of recent weeks and a chancetosimplydancethenightaway.

Residents seeking to get swept away by entertaining interludes should look no further than the Aventura Jazz Festival –the Inaugural Music Extravaganza taking place at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, AACC on Friday, October 21st, 2022 and Saturday, October 22nd, 2022. Produced by Lion Tribe Group on the heels of Hispanic Heritage Month, the early-weekend performances offer an opportunity for the audience to sway to the sensual Bossa Nova sounds of Brazil

while shimmying to the rhythms of Rio de Janeiro’s hotspots through acoustic guitar selections, sonic stimulation and familydriven collaborations punctuated by a renown Latin Grammy Award-Winning Saxophonist.

Sleepy Hollow Halloween Brings Thrills and Chills to Gulfstream Park Village

Get ready for some ghostly fun! This Halloween, one of South Florida’s favorite events returns to Gulfstream Park Village. On Saturday, October 29 from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Sleepy Hollow Halloween will transform the open-air lifestyle center into a haunted adventure that is sure to spook even the bravest of souls. The event is free and open toallages.

As South Florida’s premier entertainment, dining and res taurant destination located on the border of Broward & MiamiDade Counties, Gulfstream Park Village provides year-round pro gramming and events, including its renowned Halloween extrava ganza.Thisyear’seventhasbeen reimagined with a new, spooky theme and plenty of thrills for all ages.

The multi-faceted event begins as the storied horseman embarks on a journey to find his missing head with a canter into theVillage. All guests are encour aged to catch a glimpse of the Headless Horseman at 7 p.m., rearing his horse as he enters a spooky fog-filled entrance at the Gulfstream Park Walking Ring before haunting guests at the startoftheevening.

After spotting the Headless Horseman, keep an eye out for a series of flash mobs. These hidden-in-plain-sight perform ers will transform themselves into a dancing mob of ghoulish tricksters throughout the night,

Aventura Seeks Local Talent For Its Annual Aventura STAR Competition

The City of Aventura is pleased to announce its annual Aventura Star talent competition on Sunday, November 13th, 2022 at the City’s Founders Day Celebration.

The brightest performing artists of all ages including (but not limited to) sing ers, actors, musicians, dancers, magi cians, circus acts, or specialty acts are invited to participate as an individualorinagroupofnomore thanfive.

“We’re excited to provide Aventura artists with a platform and community to showcase their talent at our annual Founders Day birthday celebration,” said Community Services Director, KimberlyMerchant.

Performances are limited to three minutes and original or pub lished material may be performed. All accompanying music must be dropped off at the Community Recreation Center onacompactdisc(CD)byFriday,October 21st,2022.

The City of Aventura Kicks Off its Movie Night Season

TheCityofAventurakicksoffthe202223 Movie Night Season on Saturday, October 29th, 2022 starting at 5:00 p.m. at Founders Park, 3105 Northeast 190th Street, featuring the highly acclaimed ani mated film “Minions: The Rise of Gru.” The park opens at 5:00 p.m. and the moviestartsat7:00p.m.

Enjoy a beautiful South Florida eve ning outdoors and watch 12 year old Gru scheme and plot with the help of the Minions to become a member of the Vicious 6, an infamous group of supervil lains. Chaos, adventure and hilarity ensue afterhemanagestostealavaluableobject fromtheirheadquarters.

Guests are welcome to bring their own foodandblanketsand/orlawnchairs.The City of Aventura Police Department will be selling hot dogs, water, snow-cones and popcorn. Tickets will be attached to your receipt upon submission of payment. On the day

of the event, each person must have their own ticket printed and be prepared to physically present it in order to enter the park. All tickets are non-transferable and cannot be duplicated. Each ticket can only be scanned once. Tickets will be available for purchase beginning on October10th,2022at10:00a.m.

The City of Aventura General Election to elect members to the City Commission is scheduled for November 8th, 2022. The Mayor Seat, as well as Commis-sioner Seats 2, 4 and 6 were open for Election. The qualifying period to determine eli gibility to be placed on the November Ballot was August 15th - August 19th, 2022. Following qualifying, the following members were the sole candidates to qualify and as such, are deemed to be Elected by Operation Of Law: Mayor-Elect Howard S.
