ARE SCHOOLS SAFER? That Is A Question That Parents, Students & Teachers Need To Know By Larry Blustein sfsuntimes@aol.com In the months after the Douglas High tragedy in Parkland on Feb. 14 of 2018, finger pointing and the blame game took center stage. Months and months of investigation of why it happened and who was at fault took valuable time away from securing every building with one entrance in and one entrance out. One armed officer with other security personnel ready just in case. What parents, students and teachers

needed to know is how safe are our schools? Are we in better shape than we were on that nightmare Wednesday afternoon? The rally cries of “never again” have long been replaced by anger, and for good reason. People do not want to have this play out again. “The very fact that it will happen again – maybe not like it did before, but it will happen because that is where we are in this society today,” Carmen Munoz of North Miami Beach said. “As a parent, you have to trust

that everything that can be done from a security standpoint has been executed. You have to trust in the process – no matter how daunting it may be.” Munoz understands that all this goes a lot further than weapons. It has been illustrated over and over again that if anyone wants to buy a gun and has the cash, nobody will stop the process. Nobody! That process, in a nutshell has always come down to several things – first and foremost - mental health. Someone does not just wake up and want to shoot everyone and anything. It has to be in them, and if people miss the signs, that is where we have these tragic endings.

Miracle Leaf Grand Opening Celebration Will Be June 29 Miracle Leaf Health Center is a premier medical cannabis health center, for south Florida residents, in search of alternative pathways to healthier living. They vow to assist their patients throughout the entire process; from the moment a patient walks through their clinic doors to the moment they receive their certifications for medical cannabis. Located in Hallandale Beach, Miracle Leaf Health Center is part of the entire process. There are many locations, but the Hallandale Beach location is the most conven-

ient. After being recommended by one of their south Florida Marijuana Doctors, the next step is to enroll in the Florida Marijuana Card Registry Program. The process is simple. They will assist you with expediting your state application for the quickest approval. If you are interested in finding out more - the official GRAND OPENING will be June 29 from 12-6 p.m. - which will introduce their team to the many communities. By Larry Blustein sfsuntimes@aol.com Dania Beach – For as long as most could remember, there has been an attempt to make U.S. 1 a total Historic Art & Antique District. While that has been accomplished, with Kodner Galleries and other longtime dealers doing their part, there has been a compromise, and in this day, that may turn out to be okay. As Dania Beach still has the old world charm that many loved about the City for decades, it has given way to progress, which is only a natural when you sit a little over a mile from Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale International Airport, and the Atlantic Ocean. As the interest to go on walking “tours” of the remaining antique dealers – which remain as a landmark today – you discover that the area is much more. “We came down here from Palm Beach County to take the kids to Jaxon’s Ice Cream Parlor and take a walk through the antique shops,” said one time Hollywood resident Cathy O’Hara. “When we were kids, the first stop was to get ice cream and then my parents would take us to the antique shops, where when you are young, is a lot of fun.” As things have changed from when she was a
