Does Your Child Need Academic Assistance?
It is important that all employees and children stay hydrated. Please be sure to send your child to the daily program with a closed top water bottle that has first and last name written on it. City Facilities have bottle refill stations to refill the water bottles throughout the day.
The City will provide bus transpor tation at dismissal time only from the school to the recreation center on all school days. Parents or Guardians are responsible to pick up their child/chil dren from the Recreation Center no later than 6:00 p.m. The Program Fee is $285 per-month along with a one-time $25 Registration Fee. The Fee includes: all activities, supplies and transportation. Snacks will be provided.
The Afterschool Care Program will pro vide an individually wrapped snack for your participant. If you choose to bring a snack from home it must be nutritional, non-perishable and individually wrapped. We do not refrigerate or microwave any foods. Please make sure your child’s lunchbox has their name on it.

Safety guidelines rec ommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Florida Department of Health (FDOH), and Miami-Dade County are being followed. The Afterschool Program provides Aventura Waterways K-8 Center students with academic assistance including: homework, guidance in specific areas of study and the opportunity to engage in fun cross-curricular games at the Aventura Community Recreation Center.
Students will be transported to the Aventura Community Recreation Center from Aventura Waterways K-8 Center by bus. AYMCA Employee will be on site and on the bus to receive the children. They will be responsible for performing the ini tial health screening and signing in each child upon arrival once they enter the bus. Students must go straight to the bus at the end of the school day. The bus will depart no more than 10 minutes after school has dismissed. If a student is required to stay after school for any rea son, it is the responsibility of the Parent or Guardian to pick the student up from school. if a child will be absent from the program and will not need transportation from Aventura Waterways K-8 Center. amid Mangroves, Gumbo Limbo Trees and colorful Wildflowers. You’ll wind your way along the water toward the beach with beautiful views of Biscayne Bay and the IntracoastalWaterway. Be on the look out for Native Butterflies and Migratory Birds. This is also a prime area to spot Manatees and Dolphins. The sandy bay front beach with sparkling, crystal clear water is perfect for taking a dip on a hot day. You’ll find a small fishing pier on the south side of the beach where you can cast a line and reel in Snook, Snapper, Mullet or even a Barracuda. Just be sure to bring your own fishing supplies.

For a truly outward bound experience, Oleta River State Park is home to 14 rustic, air-conditioned cabins, as well as a primi tive youth campground. While the cabins don’t have bathrooms, there is a central restroom with heated water showers on the grounds. Cabins can be reserved online up to 11 months in advance. Visitors are required to wear masks and maintain six feet of social distance while visiting the park, in accordance with COVID-19 Safety Measures.
