HOLLYWOOD - Hop along the bunny trail in Hollywood this Sunday, March 29th to the Spring Marshmallow Drop. The annual family-favorite will be held at the Boulevard Heights Community Center at 6770 Garfield Street, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The fun-filled spring event features a photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny, arts & crafts, bounce houses, free popcorn and a live DJ. ‘Party on the J’ was a huge success - again! • Second annual Johnson Street International Festival brings out record crowds, businesses By Larry Blustein sfsuntimes@aol.com HOLLYWOOD - When it comes to throwing a party, this is one city that has proven - over and over again - that it can stand up against the best. Two weeks ago, one of its largest gatherings took place in Downtown Hollywood when thousands poured in for the annual St. Patrick's Day festival that featured food, music and a parade that continues to get better every year. Last Sunday, the second annual ‘Party on the J’ - Johnson Street International Festival was held in the heart of Johnson Street's Business District (between 56th and 59th. In fact, the Florida Derby is a world-wide spectacular that shines a spotlight on this entire region. The Derby and everything that it represents and has represented for the past 64 years - is a small part of this weeklong tribute to thoroughbred racing. While many know that the Be-

Jacques Raymond Abitan, 63 Sunny Isles Beach resident was a shining star to family and friends His smile was contagious. His positive attitude and love for his family was something that was admired by all. At the young age of 63, Jacques Raymond Abitan was taken from those who had loved and respected someone who always wanted the best for his family and the many who watched him light up their lives for decades. Born in Morocco, Abitan's travels took him to Canada, New York, California and eventually south Florida, where he lived in the city of Sunny Isles Beach. He and his wife, Simone are the co-founders and owners of Britannica/Festa Holidays Travel Agency, Inc. After a courageous 5 year battle with cancer, Abitan passed on March 19th at the age of 63. The funeral was held on Friday, March 20th at Riverside Gordon in Aventura and was laid to rest in Davie. He will be eternally missed and loved by all those who knew him. He was a great husband, wonderful father, son and he welcomed grandparenthood with open arms calling himself by his latter name, "Papa Jacques." Abitan is survived by Mother, Alegria Attias, his loving wife Simone Abitan of 42 years, his son Stephane, daughter-in-law Shari, Grandson, Matthew, daughter Joelle Abitan-Colon, her husband Manuel Colon, grandchildren Melanie and Jason Colon, his daughter, Sabrina. HALLANDALE BEACH SunTrust Bank is making a mark in the lives of children in the Austin Hepburn Center After School Program (ASP). Bank officials donated $5,000 to the Friends of the Hepburn Center for cultural arts and enrichment programs for the students in the ASP. Page 10A.
