Hundreds attend Evening on the Front Porch in Hallandale Beach
Children catch some air in the bounce house at the Hallandale Beach Police Evening on the Front Porch last Tuesday, April 14. Hallandale Beach Police schedule Evening on the Front Porch every quarter as a proactive approach to bring residents together for friendship and to provide a positive exposure for residents and children to the Police Department and City services. Several City departments come together at the event to offer assistance and information to residents. The Parks & Recreation Department provides play areas and free cotton candy. The Police Athletic League (PAL) provided free hot dogs, snacks and soft drinks. Also, Human Services was available at this session to explain services. For more, see Page 8A. Walk to Fight Cancer HOLLYWOOD - The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Hollywood is holding its annual Relay For Life event on Friday, April 24, 2015 at McArthur High School, 6501 Hollywood Boulevard. The activities will begin with the Opening Ceremony at 6:00 p.m. when local teams will set up camp and stay up all night for the fight against cancer. The teams are a combination of City of Hollywood employees, residents, cancer survivors, families, social groups, civic and student organizations and businesses that started raising money last year. To date, Hollywood teams have raised
more than $10,000. Throughout the night, members of each team will take turns walking laps around the track while enjoying a variety of entertainment and additional fundraising opportunities. “Many participants are our family, friends and neighbors who have faced cancer themselves.
