Since 2023, scientists measuring ocean heat have produced astoundingly high, recordbreaking temperatures that continue to reflect the globe’s warmest year on record. Off-season thunderstorms continue to ravage California’s scenic landscape while a 4.8-magnitude earthquake shocked a New Jersey suburb that rattled most of the Northeast coast.

Aventura has always been known for its beautification efforts and commitment to preserving its natural habitat. However, recent events taking place within the city limits– such as the repositioning of the Aventura Community Green Garden, along with the rare sighting of an enormous crocodile strolling down North Country Club Drive last month– have forced residents to reframe the way in which we think about our natural habitat. With Earth Day and Arbor Day approaching on Monday, April 22nd and Friday, April 26th, respectively, families can rest assured that environmental sustainability continues to

“In the limitless expanse of openended play, where imagination knows no bounds, the MAGNA-TILES brand shines as a guiding light of opportunity. Within the studio walls, these magnetic marvels ignite curiosity, inviting children on a journey where every path leads to endless discovery,” said Joseph P. Cox, President and CEO of MODS. “In this creative studio, each tile is a stepping stone to confidence, empowering children to follow their instincts, chart their own course and revel in the joy of exploration. As they build, stack and experiment, MAGNATILES sets transcend mere toy status, becoming steadfast companions in the journey of lifelong learning.”

For those seeking a more personal approach to incorporating Earth-friendly practices into their households and daily routines, here’s a list of 15 steps individuals can take to become more accountable as socially responsible neighbors and global citizens.

1. Alter your energy plan as soon as possible. Residents and professionals find themselves spending a small fortune to heat offices and condos during the spring and summer months, but rates can be adjusted based on special provisions to consolidate resources. Remember to turn off the lights and electronic devices when not in use.

2. Gather your family to attend one of the public parks and facilities in the neighborhood. Budget, in order to spend money it doesn’t have on programs it can’t afford, the government is borrowing roughly $6 Billion a day.

Basically, the U.S. Government is fund ing its existence with a credit card.

Let’s talk numbers, shall we?

The National Debt (the amount the Federal Government has borrowed over the years and must pay back) is more than $34 Trillion and will grow another $19 Trillion by 2033.

The bulk of that debt has been amassed over the past two decades, thanks in large part to the fiscal shenani gans of four presidents, 10 sessions of Congress and two wars.

It’s estimated that the amount this country owes is now 130% greater than its gross domestic product (all the prod ucts and services produced in one year by labor and property supplied by the citi zens).

In other words, the government is spending more than it brings in.

The U.S. ranks as the 12th most indebted nation in the world, with much of that debt owed to the Federal Reserve, large Investment Funds and Foreign Governments, namely, Japan and China.

Interest payments on the National Debt are more than $395 Billion, which is significantly more than the government spends on Veterans’ Benefits and Services, and according to Pew Research Center, more than it will spend on Elementary and Secondary Education, Disaster Relief, Agriculture, Science and Space Programs, Foreign Aid, and Natural Resources and Environmental Protection combined.

say. We have no real say in how the government runs, or how our taxpayer funds are used, but we’re being forced to pay through the nose, anyhow.

ues to do whatever it likes—levy taxes, rack up debt, spend outrageously and irresponsibly—with little thought for the plight of its citizens.

homes and bank accounts, money to fund schools where our kids learn nothing about freedom and everything about how to comply, and on and on.

According to the Committee for a Reasonable Federal Budget, the interest we’ve paid on this borrowed money is “nearly twice what the Federal Government will spend on Transportation Infrastructure, over four times as much as it will spend on K-12 Education, almost four times what it will spend on housing, and over eight times what it will spend on Science, Space, and Technology.”

In ten years, those interest payments will exceed our entire Military Budget.

This is financial tyranny.

We’ve been sold a bill of goods by politicians promising to pay down the National Debt, jumpstart the Economy, rebuild our Infrastructure, secure our borders, ensure our security, and make us all healthy, wealthy and happy.

None of that has come to pass, and yet we’re still being loaded down with debt not of our own making while the government remains unrepentant, unfazed and undeterred in its wanton spending.

Indeed, the National Deficit (the difference between what the government spends and the revenue it takes in) remains at more than $1.5 Trillion.

If Americans managed their personal finances the way the government mismanages the nation’s finances, we’d all be in debtors’ prison by now.

Despite the government propaganda being peddled by the Politicians and News Media, however, the government isn’t spending our Tax Dollars to make our lives better.

We’re being robbed blind so the governmental elite can get richer.

In the eyes of the government, “We The People, the voters, the consumers, and the taxpayers” are little more than pocketbooks waiting to be picked.

“We The People” have become the new, permanent underclass in America.

Consider: The government can seize your home and your car (which you’ve bought and paid for) over nonpayment of taxes. Government agents can freeze and seize your bank accounts and other valuables if they merely “suspect” wrongdoing. And the IRS insists on getting the first cut of your salary to pay for government programs over which you have no

We have no real say, but that doesn’t prevent the government from fleecing us at every turn and forcing us to pay for endless wars that do more to fund the Military Industrial Complex than protect us, Pork Barrel Projects that produce little to nothing, and a Police State that serves only to imprison us within its walls.

If you have no choice, no voice, and no real options when it comes to the government’s claims on your property and your money, you’re not free.

It wasn’t always this way, of course.

Early Americans went to war over the inalienable rights described by philosopher John Locke as the natural rights of life, liberty and property.

It didn’t take long, however—a hundred years, in fact—before the American government was laying claim to the citizenry’s property by levying taxes to pay for the Civil War. As the New York Times reports, “Widespread resistance led to its repeal in 1872.”

Determined to claim some of the citizenry’s wealth for its own uses, the government reinstituted the Income Tax in 1894. Charles Pollock challenged the tax as unconstitutional, and the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in his favor. Pollock’s victory was relatively short-lived. Members of Congress—united in their determination to tax the American people’s income— worked together to adopt a constitutional amendment to overrule the Pollock decision.

On the eve of World War I, in 1913, Congress instituted a Permanent Income Tax by way of the 16th Amendment to the Constitution and the Revenue Act of 1913. Under the Revenue Act, individuals with income exceeding $3,000 could be taxed starting at 1% up to 7% for incomes exceeding $500,000.

It’s all gone downhill from there.

Unsurprisingly, the government has used its Tax Powers to advance its own imperialistic agendas and the courts have repeatedly upheld the government’s power to penalize or jail those who refused to pay their taxes.

While we’re struggling to get by, and making tough decisions about how to spend what little money actually makes it into our pockets after the Federal, State and Local Governments take their share (this doesn’t include the Stealth Taxes imposed through: Tolls, Fines and other Fiscal Penalties), the government contin-

To top it all off, all of those wars the U.S. is so eager to fight abroad are being waged with borrowed funds. As The Atlantic reports, “U.S. leaders are essentially bankrolling the wars with debt, in the form of purchases of U.S. Treasury Bonds by U.S.-Based Entities like Pension Funds and State and Local Governments, and by countries like China and Japan.”

Of course, we’re the ones who have to repay that borrowed debt.

For instance, American Taxpayers have been forced to shell out more than $5.6 Trillion since 9/11 for the Military Industrial Complex’s costly, endless so-called “War On Terrorism.” That translates to roughly $23,000 per taxpayer to wage wars abroad, occupy foreign countries, provide financial aid to foreign allies, and fill the pockets of defense contractors and grease the hands of corrupt foreign dignitaries.

Mind you, that’s only a portion of what the Pentagon spends on America’s Military Empire.

The United States also spends more on Foreign Aid than any other nation, with nearly $300 Billion disbursed over a fiveyear period. More than 150 countries around the world receive U.S. TaxpayerFunded Assistance, with most of the funds going to the Middle East, Africa and Asia. That price tag keeps growing, too.

As Forbes reports, “U.S. Foreign Aid dwarfs the Federal Funds spent by 48 out of 50 state governments annually. Only the State Governments of California and New York spent more Federal Funds than what the U.S. sent abroad each year to foreign countries.”

Most recently, the U.S. has allocated nearly $115 Billion in Emergency Military and Humanitarian Aid for Ukraine since the start of the Russia Invasion.

As Dwight D. Eisenhower warned in a 1953 speech, this is how the Military Industrial Complex continues to get richer, while the American Taxpayer is forced to pay for programs that do little to enhance our lives, ensure our happiness and WellBeing, or secure our freedoms.

This is no way of life.

Yet it’s not just the government’s endless wars that are bleeding us dry.

We’re also being forced to shell out money for surveillance systems to track our movements, money to further militarize our already militarized police, money to allow the government to raid our

There was a time in our history when our forebears said “enough is enough” and stopped paying their taxes to what they considered an illegitimate government. They stood their ground and refused to support a system that was slowly choking out any attempts at selfgovernance, and which refused to be held accountable for its crimes against the people. Their resistance sowed the seeds for the revolution that would follow.

Unfortunately, in the 200-plus years since we established our own government, we’ve let bankers, corporate turncoats and number-crunching bureaucrats muddy the waters and pilfer the accounts to such an extent that we’re back where we started.

Once again, we’ve got a despotic regime with an imperial ruler doing as they please.

Once again, we’ve got a judicial system insisting we have no rights under a government which demands that the people march in lockstep with its dictates.

And once again, we’ve got to decide whether we’ll keep marching or break stride and make a turn toward freedom.

But what if we didn’t just pull out our pocketbooks and pony up to the Federal Government’s outrageous demands for more money?

What if we didn’t just dutifully line up to drop our hard-earned dollars into the collection bucket, no questions asked about how it will be spent?

What if, instead of quietly sending in our tax checks, hoping vainly for some meager return, we did a little calculation of our own and started deducting from our taxes those programs that we refuse to support?

As I make clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People and in its fictional counterpart The Erik Blair Diaries, we’re no longer living the American dream.

We’re living a financial nightmare. Editor’s

In South Florida, over 1.2 million individuals grapple with food insecurity, with one in nine unsure of where their next meal will come from. Factors such as inflation, supply chain strains, rising fuel prices, and increased housing costs only exacerbate this issue.

The proceeds raised from Tacos & Tequila will play a crucial role in supporting Feeding South Florida’s efforts to provide immediate access to nutritious food, advocate for hunger and poverty relief, and implement innovative programming

and education initiatives.

So mark your calendars for Saturday, May 4th, and join us at Feeding South Florida’s Pembroke Park Warehouse for a celebration that combines culinary delights with a noble cause. General Admission Tickets are priced at $40, while VIP Admission offers an enhanced experience for $75. Children’s Tickets are also available for $20.

The Timeless Sound Of Kenny G Are Coming To Broward

He has the rare ability to convey emotion and tell a story through his music.

In the vast landscape of contemporary music, few figures have left as indelible a mark as Kenny G. With his signature Smooth Jazz sound, he has captivated audiences worldwide for decades. His melodies evoke a sense of tranquility, nostalgia, and pure musical bliss. In this article, we delve into the life, career, and enduring legacy of this iconic musician.

Kenneth Bruce Gorelick, better known as Kenny G, was born on June 5th, 1956, in Seattle, Washington. From an early age, he displayed a remarkable aptitude for music, particularly the Saxophone. His interest was sparked by his father, who played the instrument as a hobby. By the age of 10, Kenny was already proficient on the Saxophone and showed signs of extraordinary talent.

His dedication to music led him to study at the University of Washington, where he joined the jazz band. It was during these formative years that he honed his skills and developed his unique style. Influenced by Jazz Legends such as Grover Washington Jr. and David Sanborn, Kenny began to shape his sound, blending elements of Jazz, Pop, and R&B into a seamless fusion.

Kenny G’s breakthrough came in the 1980’s when he signed with Arista Records and released his self-titled debut album in 1982. The album garnered widespread acclaim and laid the foundation for his meteoric rise to fame. His smooth, melodic Saxophone lines resonated with

audiences, establishing him as a leading figure in the burgeoning Smooth Jazz Genre.

Throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s, Kenny G released a string of successful albums, including” “Duotones,” “Breathless,” and “Miracles.” His singles consistently topped the charts, earning him Grammy Awards and cementing his status as a household name. Songs like: “Songbird,” “Forever in Love,” and “Silhouette” became iconic anthems of the era, beloved by fans around the world.

At the heart of Kenny G’s music is his unparalleled mastery of the Saxophone. His smooth, velvety tone and impeccable phrasing set him apart as a virtuoso of his instrument. He has the rare ability to convey emotion and tell a story through his music, whether it’s a tender ballad or an upbeat groove.

While some critics have dismissed his music as overly commercial or formulaic, there’s no denying the sincerity and artistry behind Kenny G’s work. His melodies have a timeless quality that transcends trends and genres, appealing to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Moreover, his influence extends far beyond the realm of Smooth Jazz, inspiring countless musicians across various genres to explore the expressive potential of the Saxophone.

His impact on the music world cannot be overstated. He has sold over 75 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. Moreover, his influence extends beyond album sales, as he continues to tour extensively and

New Community Court Launched In The City Of Hollywood

Broward County’s newest Community Court has officially launched at The Caring Place - Broward Outreach Center in Hollywood. The 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, in partnership with the City of Hollywood, spearheaded a community court location in the City to address LowLevel First Time and Repeat Misdemeanor and Municipal Ordinance Offenders.

“This is the third community court now operating in Broward County,” says Chief Judge Jack Tuter. “The Court wishes to thank Mayor Levy and the Hollywood City Commission for their assistance in getting the Court off the ground.”

Community Court participants will be held accountable for their conduct, via community service, while also receiving access to one-on-one assistance and referrals to available resources, therapies, and opportunities to help them. “When you are out on the street it’s hard to know what services are available to you, let alone how to gain access,” says Judge Corey Cawthon. “So, when individuals come here, they really are appreciative of the help they receive.” Community Court is a collaborative effort between the 17th Circuit, the City of Hollywood, Broward County, Broward County Clerk of Courts, the Law Office of the Public Defender, the

Public Defender assigned to Hollywood, the Broward County State Attorney’s Office, Broward County Sheriff, and several service and treatment providers, including Henderson Behavioral Health, The Caring Place-Broward Outreach Center, TaskForce For Ending Homelessness, Memorial Healthcare System and James Club Recovery.

“Community Court will play an important role in the City’s efforts to connect people experiencing homelessness with the services they need, while addressing the underlying issues,” says Ryon Coote, the Community Development Division Manager for the City of Hollywood. “I am grateful for the partnership that our Judicial Circuit has formed with us,” says Hollywood Mayor Josh Levy. “The Community Court will hold individuals accountable, but also will provide them with an opportunity to access the help they need to break the cycle and move forward to recovery and life off the street.”

The initiative was funded by a 4-year, $532,305 Grant that was pursued and secured from the Community Courts Initiative of the U.S. Department of Justice, and would not be possible without the steadfast commitment of Broward Chief Judge Tuter, Judge Barner, Judge

As the world has celebrated Earth Day, I believe that we all can agree how important and fragile our natural environment is. Living in Florida we have many reminders of how beautiful nature can be. Whether it is our own yards, condominium grounds, one of our local parks, waterways and lakes or ocean we all have an obligation to maintain and protect these resources.

When we do use our resources we all need to respect them. We need to keep them beautiful and free of trash. We need to keep our waterways clean and yes maintain our trees and landscapes. We need to all do our part, not just for our enjoyment but for the Native Animals, Birds, Fish, and in Florida our Sea Turtles.

Turtle Season has begun. This means our shoreline will be monitored by a group of certified volunteers that look to see if turtles have made their way to the beach to lay their eggs.. Only after they give the all clear we cannot clean the beach, nor can residents set up chairs and umbrellas.

During Turtle Season our City is tasked with ensuring that Turtle Lighting Regulations are being followed. These rules have been in place for years. All the condominiums have come into compliance for their Common Area Lighting that casts light onto the beach. Artificial Light

that is not compliant confuses the turtle and they become disoriented and stuck. These rules were also expanded years ago to require individual condominium units. They cannot have lighting visibly exposed to the ocean. This means shades must be drawn or light turned off. Our Staff goes out to inspect in the evenings and will take pictures of all non-compliant buildings. They then will send a notice of violation to the building. The building is required to come into compliance and will be fined if the Violation/s is not corrected. As our readers can imagine this is not an easy task. Our inspectors are doing their jobs building managers are doing theirs, but some unit owners are either

to licensing agreements and operational plan/s regulating the storing and placing of beach chairs along our beaches.

This sounds easy but each building is different in the facts; they have different numbers of units, different access points, differences in the spacing between lifeguard stations and different levels of space between the shoreline and property lines. Neither of these are something that can be accomplished overnight.

Our City Manager Dr. Earle, City Attorney Merino and Staff are all working diligently towards documentation and implementation. There is still the rule that there is no storage or presetting on our city beaches. We debated temporary fixes

peaceful enjoyment of everyone that lives on and visits our beach. I will continue to diligently work towards the resolution along with my colleagues and the completion of both aspects. I know our Staff is doing the same. Individual licensing agreements will be established for each building that desires one. I do not have time specifically for each one. These will be worked on at the same time of the ordinance. The ordinance will come back for first reading Wednesday, May 1st and the second and final reading will be on Wednesday, May 3rd.This time it is required by state statute. The Historic Banyan Tree was removed. What a sad day. After meeting tion to create a covered domino area. Final plans will be discussed at our next cle we are working to preserve and add trees. On Earth Day I had a resident reach out about neighbors cutting down trees on their property. Broward County and our empted many of the laws. We need to work to get them back. If a tree is healthy,

Be Water Smart:

Florida leads the country in drowning deaths of children ages 1–4, and it can happen in the very few minutes it takes to answer a phone call or run inside for a quick task. To reduce the risk of drowning, use multiple layers of protection when around a swimming pool, bathtub, lake or ocean. To learn please more, visit: www.watersmartfl.com. “Dry drowning” can occur after a person is submerged or inhales water through the nose or mouth, causing a spasm in the airway and difficulty breathing. Dry drowning can occur less than one hour after inhaling water. If a person is rescued from a “near” drowning, and they continue to cough or have difficulty breathing, call 9-1-1- and seek medical attention immediately.

Helpful Tips to Ensure Safety Around Water:

CIA Operatives Dodge Danger, Confront Terrorist Attacks and Face Corruption from Within

In the real world, “espionage is not a tuxedo and a martini,” quipped prolific author Jeffrey S. Stephens, who has written extensively about missions involving CIA operatives and national security. “They work in the shadows. They’re in danger,” he added. “There’s so much that goes on that we don’t know about — so many near misses that we can never hear about for obvious security reasons.”

In his two-book Nick Reagan Thriller Series, Stephens blurs the lines between fact and fiction with detailed descriptions of real places, looming threats from very real terrorist cells and a realistic portrayal of the networks of people required to pull off large acts of terrorism.

In The Handler, the first book in the series, Nick Reagan and his partner, Carol Gellos, are drawn into an international hunt to locate the anonymous terrorist determined to unleash a series of unholy attacks on America.

Readers first meet Reagan as he traces a trail of clues to China in search of the Ghost Chip — a new technology that turns cell phones into detonators and renders them untraceable. In the hands of terrorists, the Ghost Chip would be cata-

strophic. An Authors.com reviewer called The Handler “a heartpounding ride with great narratives … It’s got it all — spies, assassins, guns and terrorist cells … If you liked Vince Flynn novels, you would love Stephens’ super-cool CIA operative Nick Reagan.”

The second book in the series takes all that to another level. While the good actors are easily identified in The Handler, it is a bit more difficult to tell the heroes from the villains in Enemies Among Us. A thriller where some of the “bad guys” are U.S. government figures, including some in our own Central Intelligence Agency, the story is as current as today’s headlines. An award-winning author, Stephens says the saga intends to throw light on some real-life transgressions happening all around the globe, including in our own country.

“The highest praise I can offer,” said Chris Beakey, author of the Amazon bestseller Fatal Option, “is that I devoured the entire novel in two sittings and continue to be fascinated by its large, suspenseful spell.” Throughout the Nick Reagan Thriller Series, the author toggles between perspectives, giving readers a chilling look inside the minds of Islamic terrorists hell-

bent on carrying out heinous acts, while simultaneously, CIA operatives risk their lives to thwart the awful carnage. “Many may have thought the continuing threat from terrorists was over,” Stephens said, “but as we have recently seen, it remains incredibly current and violent … while few would believe that corruption within our own intelligence services and the highest levels of corporate power are something we are dealing with in real time.”

The Author

A native of New York City, Jeffrey S. Stephens is a successful attorney in private practice, admitted in both New York and Connecticut. Stephens has lived for more than 30 years in Greenwich, which is where he and his wife, Nancy, raised their two sons, Graham and Trevor. Stephens is the author of the Jordan Sandor thrillers, Targets Of Deception, Targets Of Opportunity, Targets Of Revenge and Rogue Mission, as well as the Anthony Walker murder mystery Crimes And Passion and the Pencraft First Place Awardwinning novel, Fool’s Errand.
