New look Hallandale High football gets a key spring win

After finishing with the best record in school history this past season, Hallandale High’s head football coach Dameon Jones stepped aside, leaving this program with several younger prospects. With many years of coaching experience at Miami’s Booker T. Washington, Benedioct Hyppolite was hired - and after last Thursday night’s 8-6 win over Hialeah Champagnat Catholic in the spring game, the Chargers are feeling great heading into the summer.

It’s the season to be ready! By Larry Blustein sfssuntimes@aol.com For the second straight year, we, here in south Florida, were gently reminded that just because June 1 is the official start of the hurricane season, nothing is ever etched in stone. While yesterday “officially” kicked off the 2016 Atlantic hurricane season, this past weekend showed us that the severe tropical weather season can in-

deed take many of us by surprise. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– HURRICANE, Page 3A

Food trucks are still very popluar

In 2013, the Hollywood City Commission applied for a grant from the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for a "Complete Streets" project along this section of the Hollywood Boulevard corridor.

WET WEATHER DRIVING When it comes to driving in the rain, windshield wipers, headlights and brakes will only get you so far. More than 1 million car crashes occur each year as a result of weather conditions, according to the Federal Highway Administration. Most of them have to do with wet roadways. 4B.

By Larry Blustein Sfsuntimes@aol.com HOLLYWOOD – If you think that the food truck phase was winding down, maybe you should get out more. At least, when it comes to Hollywood’s Young Circle ArtsPark each and every Monday night, the crowds are still lively and the choices of food have become endless. With everyone searching for lower cost entertainment and food choices these days, the food trucks have indeed hit a mark that most predicted they would when the rush to enjoy the street food experience began some five years ago. Mike Gregoris of Hollywood was one of those locals who predicted that this food truck scene would not only take off, but felt that the experience would be heightened – going past the creative culinary menus that are available. –––––––––––––––––––––– TRUCKS, Page 4A

HALLANDALE BEACH In an attempt to keep City streets clean, we need the cooperation of residents and visitors. Despite repeated attempts to convince drivers to adhere to the posted warnings, some scofflaws ignore the City’s requests. That will be changing very soon. For more, see Page 8B.
