Over 1 In 4 Floridians Met Their Neighbor For The First Time During Lockdown It seems staying home has had a positive influence on neighborly relationships across the nation, as over 1 in 4 (28%) Floridians admit the first time they met their neighbor was during lockdown. We are told to ‘Love thy neighbor as thyself’ but what if you have no idea who your nextdoor neighbor is? Having to remain indoors during lockdown means getting creative when communicating with family and friends, such as via video calling apps. However, it is also the perfect opportunity to get to know the person or people who live in the home next to you, considering you are both likely to be there more often than usual. If your paths didn’t cross before due to the hustle and bustle of everyday life, they are bound to have done so during lockdown. BusinessElectric.com, online electricity comparison and resource site, conducted a survey of 4,000 Americans to find out how many had their first interaction with their neighbor ever during lockdown period. It seems staying home has had a positive influence on neighborly relationships across the nation, as over 1 in 4 (28%) Floridians admit the first time they met their neighbor was during lockdown! This was above the national average of 20%. A friend in need… While lockdown appears to have improved our communication with our loved ones – and neighbors – there is no doubt about the economic hardship many are facing during this time. It seems we are a country full of good Samaritans as the average American revealed they would lend their neighbor in need a significant $167. Floridians would lend $179.65 to their neighbor. Conversely, the survey also found that over 1 in 10 (15%) respondents say they would, in fact, reach out to their neighbor for financial help in desperate times. A promising, heartwarming statistic to emerge from this study was that a majority of Americans are even generous enough to house a neighbor in need – 77% say they would volunteer to temporarily house their neighbor if they had nowhere Neighbor, Page 7A

Collection Sites COVID-19 Testing Is Easily Available Broward County, the Florida Department of Health in Broward, American Medical Response and Century Ambulance Services offer a mobile/in-home testing program. This service is for homebound elderly or disabled individuals

who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and cannot leave their homes to access a drive-up or walk-up test location. Initial hours of operation will be from 9AM - Noon, and 1PM 4PM, Monday through Friday. AMR and CAS will each collect
