Joseph Menchetti is ‘Top Dog’ in thrilling event at Mardi Gras Casino This year's Mardi Gras Casino “Top Dog” hot dog eating contest was easily one of the most exciting ever. At the end of the final round of the competition last Saturday, there was a three way tie with each contestant consuming 12 hot dogs. That resulted in an “eat-off” where each contestant was given 1 minute to consume as many hot dogs as they can. Joseph Menchetti landed first place with 17 total hot dogs consumed, taking Joseph Menchetti earned first place home the $1,000 cash prize with 17 total hot dogs. and the winner’s belt for “Top Dog.” The other two winners, which included last year’s champion Mitchell Manresa of Hollywood - tied for 2nd place receiving $375 in cash. The other 2nd place winner was Michael Jenkins. The remaining contestants received $10 in bonus play. In addition to the contest, there was a number of Food trucks onsite - as well as an appearance from Big 105.9’s on-air talent While Menchetti won the contest, he was Luke from the Paul & pushed hard by defending champion Mitchell Young Ron Morning Manresa and Michael Jenkins.
