Sylvester Cancer Center Expands in Hollywood Local elected officials from Hollywood joined with doctors and administrators from the University of Miami last Friday to cut the ribbon on the expansion of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center into a 5,700 square foot Cancer Center of Excellence in Hollywood. The expanded facility includes 10 patient treatment stations for Infusion Therapy, a complete laboratory, diagnostics and meeting areas for support groups. Hallandale’s 7-on-7 football team captured the prestigious University of South Florida 7-on-7 Sling & Shoot event last weekend in Tampa. The Chargers are expected to be one of the top teams in the state. Head coach Damion Jones has put this team in a great position.

After finishing with a school best 10-1 record in 2014, Hallandale High’s football team has shown that they are ready for a state title run in 2015!

HOLLYWOOD - Six individuals and one organization were recently honored by the Memorial and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundations at the 17th annual Circle of Friends luncheon at the Diplomat Resort & Spa. Andy Cagnetta, Colleen Brooks, Eddy Carrillo, Gene Glasser, Julie Long, and Paul Malek were named “Spirit of Healing” award winners for professional excellence, community service, and a commitment to the Memorial Healthcare System. Sunrise-based Sheridan Healthcare won the “Wasie Philanthropic Leadership” award for its fundraising generosity and guidance. “Our award winners are difference makers in the community,” said Carl Schuster, board chair of the Memorial and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundations. “They have consistently dedicated their efforts to making South Florida a better place.” __________________________________________________________________________ HONORED, Page 6A

HOLLYWOOD - The judging has finished and the winners of the City’s 2015 Photo Contest have been announced. Florida's Hollywood 2015 in Pictures Photo Contest invited the public to photograph the sights and scenes throughout Hollywood that best depict the City. This year, all of the winning photographs were taken by Hollywood residents. In the Adult Category, Lori Singer won first place and a $200 gift card with her creative photo of a lifeguard stand on Hollywood Beach, captured through a window with a seagull on the door. Carlos Lopez took second place honors and a $150 gift card with his photo of a stroll through the mangroves on a nature trail with fluffy white clouds against a beautiful blue sky at Hollywood’s Ann
