PRIMARY ELECTIONS New Florida Laws Has Made Some Changes You Need To Know

Since I was eighteen years old and able to vote I have been involved in the election process. I was born in Trenton, New Jersey and raised across the Delaware in Levittown, Pennsylvania. My parents were always involved

Today we have early voting and mail in ballots. The new Florida Law has made some changes. Everyone used to be able to opt in to automatically

My mom was elected as the Judge of elections. At that time there were toggle voting machines. The toggle eliminated paper ballots. A voter would be checked in and then go to one of the voting machines. A large lever was pulled to shut the curtain and set the machine. The smaller toggles were released.

The voter could move them to cast a vote for their candidates.

The machines were locked and transported back to the main supervisor’s warehouse.

Back then we only voted on one day. Polls were at the local schools and all kids had that day off. People who still worked could vote after work until 7:00 p.m. People that could not drive typically were driven to the polls if they were lucky. Access was difficult for seniors and those with disabilities.

Those times have changed. I know in Philadelphia there was a scandal where machines were stolen. There are now different types of machines. Here we have electronic voting in Florida but have paper back-ups. Our paper push pin ballot with machine readers was changed. After the

Supervisors can start as early as the 15th day before Election Day and allow it until the second day before Election Day. There has been a debate about our County reducing the days from 14 to 10.

Also, early voting can be 12 hours but no less than 8. With the ability to mail in ballots and in my opinion 10 days is ample.

Early voting costs everyone more money!

The Broward County Supervisor of Elections Budget is $23,163,400 for 2022. Next year they asked for a $10-Million-

Dollar increase. The super majority of expenses are for staffing. When we have our City Elections it costs approximately $20,000 Dollars. I was shocked to see that while the costs are going up, the polling sites have been drastically reduced.

Last month we found out that our City was still going to have an early voting site but only going to have two polling sites. We used to have sixteen then it was eight. We noticed that the only two sites in the City would be on Three Islands and our Cultural Center. After hearing that there would be no sites in our western side of the City, our Clerk reached out to the supervisor. The polling site at Foster Park was reinstated.

It is especially important to make sure you understand that with less sites there will be more lines. The deadline to request a VBM ballot is Sunday, August 13th, 2022 for the 23rd Primary Election.

No requests will be accepted after 5:00 p.m. on the 13th.

You can request VBM for Tuesday, November 8th, 2022 . If you are not registered to vote now, it is too late for the primary.

Ancestry Databases: We’re All Suspects in a DNA Lineup, Waiting to be Matched with a Crime

“Solving unsolved crimes is a noble objective, but it occupies a lower place in the American pantheon of noble objectives than the protection of our people from suspicionless law-enforcement searches... Make no mistake about it... your DNA can be taken and entered into a national DNA database if you are ever arrested, rightly or wrongly, and for whatever reason... Perhaps the construction of such a genetic panopticon is wise. But I doubt that the proud men who wrote the charter of our liberties would have been so eager to open their mouths for royal inspection.” — Justice Antonin Scalia dissenting in Maryland v. King Be warned: the DNA detectives are on the prowl.

Whatever skeletons may be lurking on your family tree or in your closet, whatever crimes you may have committed, whatever associations you may have with those on the government’s most wanted lists: the police state is determined to ferret them out.

In an age of overcriminalization, round-the-clock surveillance, and a police state eager to flex its muscles in a show of power, we are all guilty of some transgression or other.

No longer can we consider ourselves innocent until proven guilty.

Now we are all suspects in a DNA lineup waiting to be matched up with a crime.

Suspect State, meet the Genetic Panopticon.

DNA technology in the hands of government officials will complete our transition to a Surveillance State in which prison walls are disguised within the seemingly benevolent trappings of technological and scientific progress, national security and the need to guard against terrorists, pandemics, civil unrest, etc.

By accessing your DNA, the government will soon know everything else about you that they don’t already know: your family chart, your ancestry, what you look like, your health history, your inclination to follow orders or chart your own course, etc.

It’s getting harder to hide, even if you think you’ve got nothing to hide.

Armed with unprecedented access to DNA databases amassed by the FBI and ancestry websites, as well as hospital newborn screening programs, police are using forensic genealogy, which allows police to match up an unknown suspect’s crime scene DNA with that of any family members in a genealogy database, to solve cold cases that have remained unsolved for decades.

By submitting your DNA to a genealogical database such as Ancestry and 23andMe, you’re giving the police access to the genetic makeup, relationships and health profiles of every relative — past, present and future— in your family, whether or not they ever agreed to be part of such a database.

It no longer even matters if you’re among the tens of millions of people who have added their DNA to ancestry databases. As Brian Resnick reports, public DNA databases have grown so massive that they can be used to find you even if you’ve never shared your own DNA. That simple transaction — a spit sample or a cheek swab in exchange for getting to learn everything about one’s ancestral makeup, where one came from, and who is part of one’s extended family — is the price of entry into the Suspect State for all of us.

After all, a DNA print reveals everything about “who we are, where we come from, and who

It’s what police like to refer to as a “modern fingerprint.”

Yet in the police state’s pursuit of criminals, anyone who comes up as a possible DNA match—including distant family members—suddenly becomes part of a circle of suspects that must be tracked, investigated and ruled out.

In this way, “guilt by association” has taken on new connotations in a technological age in which one is just a DNA sample away from being considered a person of interest in a police investigation.

Indeed, the government has been relentless in its efforts to get hold of our DNA, either through mandatory programs carried out in connection with law enforcement and corporate America, by warrantlessly accessing our familial DNA shared with genealogical services such as Ancestry and 23andMe, or through the collection of our “shed” or “touch” DNA. Get ready, folks, because the government has embarked on a diabolical campaign to create a nation of suspects predicated on a massive national DNA database.

All 50 states now maintain their own DNA government databases, although the protocols for collection differ from state to

state. Increasingly, many of the data from local databanks are being uploaded to CODIS, the FBI’s massive DNA database, which has become a de facto way to identify and track the American people from birth to death.

Even hospitals have gotten in on the game by taking and storing newborn babies’ DNA, often without their parents’ knowledge or consent. It’s part of the government’s mandatory genetic screening of newborns. In many states, the DNA is stored indefinitely.

What this means for those being born today is inclusion in a government database that contains intimate information about who they are, their ancestry, and what awaits them in the future, including their inclinations to be followers, leaders or troublemakers.

The ramifications of this kind of DNA profiling are far-reaching.

At a minimum, these DNA databases do away with any semblance of privacy or anonymity.

These genetic databases and genomic technology also make us that much more vulnerable to creeps and cyberstalkers, genetic profiling, and those who would weaponize the technology against us.

Unfortunately, the debate over genetic privacy — and when one’s DNA becomes a public

commodity outside the protection of the Fourth Amendment’s prohibition on warrantless searches and seizures — continues to lag far behind the government and Corporate America’s encroachments on our rights.

What this amounts to is a scenario in which we have little to no defense against charges of wrongdoing, especially when “convicted” by technology, and even less protection against the government sweeping up our DNA in much the same way it sweeps up our phone calls, emails and text messages.

As I make clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People and in its fictional counterpart The Erik Blair Diaries, it’s only a matter of time before the police state’s pursuit of criminals from the past expands into genetic profiling and a preemptive hunt for criminals of the future.

Florida’s Fentanyl Crisis The Attorney General Wants To Classify It As A Weapon of Mass Destruction Following two mass overdose incidents in a week in two Florida counties and the meteoric increase in deaths related to Fentanyl nationwide, Attorney General Ashley Moody is calling on President Joe Biden to classify illicit Fentanyl as a Weapon of Mass Destruction. Recently, in Tampa, police responded to a convenience store where seven individuals were found unresponsive after consuming drugs laced with Fentanyl and a veterinary tranquilizer. Over the recent Fourth of July weekend in Gadsden County, at least 19 people overdosed on Fentanyl. Back in March, five West Point cadets overdosed on Cocaine mixed with Fentanyl while on spring break in Wilton Manors — exposing a first responder who also overdosed attempting to resuscitate the cadets. According to reports, more than 75,000 Americans died of an Opioid overdose during the 12-month period ending in April 2021, primarily from synthetic Opioids like Fentanyl.

ernment to coordinate a uniform response to illicit Fentanyl, including the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, Drug Enforcement Administration and Department of Defense. Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “Border patrol has seized enough Fentanyl to the kill the entire American population many times over. With that in mind, and the recent mass overdose events in Hillsborough and Gadsden counties, I am demanding President Biden classify illicit Fentanyl as a Weapon

of Mass Destruction. The Federal Government already works to disrupt the supply chains of other chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear weapons—it’s not hard to imagine that similar tactics could be used to reduce the flow of illicit Fentanyl into the U.S. through cartels in Mexico— and save countless American lives.”

According to DHS, a WMD is a nuclear, radiological, chemical, biological or other device that is intended to harm a large number of people. In 2018, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate assessed that “Fentanyl is very likely a viable option for a chemical weapon attack.”

In 2019, DHS considered the

designation. A memo from James McDonnell, then-assistant secretary for the DHS Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office, states that the drug’s “high toxicity and increasing availability are attractive to threat actors seeking non-conventional materials for a chemical weapons attack.” According to the memo, DOD also proposed fentanyl receive a WMD designation.

Fentanyl is a highly deadly synthetic aopioid. Just two milligrams can be lethal. It is now the number one killer of adults ages 18-45. Fentanyl-related deaths among teens increased 168% in 2020, with 680 deaths nationwide — last year, 77% of all teen overdose deaths involved Fentanyl. Many of these deaths can be attributed to use of counterfeit prescription pills laced with Fentanyl, coming from Mexican drug cartels. It is estimated that at least one third of illicitly manufactured pills are contaminated with Fentanyl, and users often have no idea that they are ingesting the lethal substance. They drag themselves out of bed to prepare to endure another day. Starting on Monday, their objective is to make it to Friday. Then, on the weekend, Sunday becomes stressful as the clock clicks down to Monday.

It’s a shame to allow a bad attitude to cause you to lose sight of how special each day is.

As you become jaded, each day looms as a challenge to get through rather than something to savor. Although we all face problems, it is our outlook that determines how successful we are in dealing with them.

Here are some tips for getting back on track so that you begin recognizing every day as special.

Start with appreciating all of the things in your life you can be thankful for. Look past the fog and negativity. Regardless of what you are dealing with, there are many things which you can be appreciative of.

Developing this attitude of gratitude grounds you in the positive. Review your list of good things on a daily basis. This habit gets your day started on the right

foot. The foundation you build makes it easier to recognize each day as special.

The things you are thankful for are your bright spots. They will energize you when you appreciate them. One bright spot alone can outshine all of your problems. Even if yesterday was a low point, every new day is a special opportunity to turn things around.

An appreciation of all the miracles in your life will boost your attitude of gratitude. Start with the miracle that is you. This wonder dwarfs the challenges you are facing. Pay attention to

should have done. When you hold onto your past it pollutes your future. The value of the past is to teach us what didn’t work and what did. Each day is a special opportunity for a new start.

Every day is another chance to accomplish what you put off yesterday. Taking action is the only way to accomplish anything.

Stop procrastinating today and get into gear. Each day you delay is a day lost that you will never get back.

Cultivate positive thoughts.

Purge negative words and concepts from your self-talk. Your mind believes whatever you tell it without discrimination. If you tell yourself you can do something, you are right. If you tell yourself you can’t do something, you are also right. Your thoughts are as special as each day because they determine the direction of your life.

As you can see, every day is indeed special. Take advantage of the new opportunities that constantly present themselves.

Use the time you are given rather than wasting it. Believe in yourself and your ability to have the life you want.
