In a recent effort to improve access to health care for millions of Americans, the Biden-Harris Administration proposed a new rule to overhaul the enrollment proc esses for Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Basic Health Programs (BHPs), and eliminate arbitrary coverage caps for children in CHIP. In a Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), is working to reduce red tape and simplify application and verification proc esses to make it easier for children, older adults, and people with lower incomes with Medicaid and CHIP coverage to enroll in and retain vital health insurance. This proposed rule follows President Biden’s executive orders in April 2022 and January 2021 directing federal agencies to take action to expand affordable, quality health coverage, including by strength ening Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act.A recent study estimated that only about half of eligible low-income individu als enrolled in Medicare were also enrolled in Medicare Savings Programs. This pro posed rule would automatically consider older adults for Medicare Savings Programs enrollment when they apply for low-income subsidies to help pay for Part D Medicare coverage, reducing the bur dens of both time and expense by elimi nating the need to complete multiple applications.

Under the Affordable Care Act, patients who may have been uninsured due to preexisting conditions or limited finances can secure affordable health plans through the health insurance marketplace in their state.
Employers Hold The Key

The days of your employers paying for the entire insurance premium are over. The rising cost has forced these com panies to make adjustments over time, and everyone is not thrilled. The employer portion of health insurance that you pay varies depending on your business’s size and the type of coverage. Though there is no single answer to how much employers do pay for health insurance, there are average amounts. Most insurance com panies require employers to cover at least half of the employee’s premium. This makes insurance more affordable for employees.TheAffordable Care Act (ACA) sets the rules for employer-sponsored health insur ance. Whether you have to provide cov erage depends on your business size. An employer’s size is determined by the num ber of its full-time employees, including full-time equivalents. Some of the pro visions of the Affordable Care Act, or health care law, apply only to small employers, generally those with fewer than 50 full-time employees, including fulltime equivalent employees. May you and your families be blessed with a Happy & Healthy, Good & Sweet New Year! May you be showered with blessings and may they last for a very long time! May you always be there for others! May you be a pre servative for this beautiful world and help bring it to the perfection G-d has intended for it! May this year be your best year ever!
“Shana Tovah Umetuka” -
Have you ever seen an expi ration date on honey? Honey can last for a really long time! A quick Google search will tell you that honey can last for centuries, but perhaps it can even last longer than that! Many times there are people that get blessings. They win the lottery or stumble across a treasure. But the blessings unfortunately don’t always last and all their money can dis appear as fast as it appeared. On Rosh Hashanah we pray that we not only get a blessed year, but that the blessing lasts.
The Talmud teaches us that everything that happens in the world is for the good. And although many times it seems far from good, you should know that ultimately it somehow is for the good. We therefore wish each other, that not just should you have a good year, but also a sweet one. A year that is not just ultimately for the good, but rather one where the good is obvious to all. A year that is deli ciouslyManysweet!give each other tega lach, honey cookies or honey cake - known as lekach. In fact

the Chassidic custom is to spe cifically ask someone, usually the Rabbi, but not necessarily for a piece or a shtickel lekach. We hope and pray that if there’s any thing that we must ask or beg anyone for in the coming year, we should fulfill it with that ask.

A lifelong American picker, Mike Wolfe has been searching for hidden treasures since he was four years old. Over the years, he’s earned a reputation as one of the country’s foremost foragers, traveling coast to coast in search of rusty gold. Where other people see dilapidated barns and overgrown yards, Wolfe sees the beauty of longlost things and the stories of the people who made them, used them and somehow saved them.
For starters, Israel was blessed to be a land flowing with milk and honey! Eating honey, wherever we may be it reminds us of our ancient homeland and our deep connection to Israel.
“May you have a good and sweet year” is what we typically wish each other in the month leading up to the Jewish New Year and I bet you’ve always wondered why we give a double wish, that the year should be both good and sweet. If it’s good, isn’t it sweet? It’s got to be more than just poetic!
This year we will celebrate Rosh Hashanah beginning Sunday evening, September 25th, 2022 at sundown and con cluding Tuesday evening, September 27th, 2022 at night fall. To learn more about Rosh Hashanah and the many cus toms associated with it

On “American Pickers,” he enjoys discovering one-of-akind relics and sharing their untold stories with viewers.

What exactly does Wolfe look for? “Anything I can make a buck on,” he laughs. But truly, he looks for things with a story; things that fill in some of the blanks in the everyday history of America. That could be anything from antique baby carriages and vintage jukeboxes to old cars and peeling metal advertising
Furthermore, honey can be used as a preservative. When Adam and Eve, whose birthdays we celebrate on Rosh Hashanah, were created, they were com manded to work the earth and to guard it. To protect it and all that

It is also the custom of eating sweet foods on Rosh Hashanah itself, especially an apple dipped in honey with a special prayer that G-d grant us a good & sweet year. The Challah is dipped in honey. A special dish known as Tzimmes is a European carrot concoction cooked in honey. As well as many other foods we eat with honey. My mother’s z’ls deli cious tzimmes included Chuck fleish and marrow bones and was one of the most delicious dishes ever. Ah, good memories!
The American Pickers TV Show is looking for leads and would love to explore your hidden treasures. If you or someone you know has a large, private collection or accumulation of antiques that the Pickers can spend the better part of the day looking through, they would love to hear from you! Of course by now you surely know that the theme of honey throughout this season symbol izes the sweet year we all yearn for. But why specifically honey? Why not sugar or splenda?
Ever since Robbie Wolfe can remember, he’s lived by the famous words, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Since the age of eight, Robbie has been rummaging through garages and old barns to find what he calls “unknown treasures.”

Elections Are 47 Days Away

Today marks 47 days until Election Day! Here in Hallandale Beach, we have Elections for Commission Seats 1 and 2 and for Charter Amendments. A com mittee of appointed citizens pro posed the Charter Amendments. The Commission approved and supported them with a 5-0 Vote to be placed on the Ballot. Voters should support all these Amendments that improve the governance and operations of our City. I typically do not get very political in these articles, but Voters really need to understand what is at stake in our City this Election Year. I have already heard many Voters are being misled. Hallandale Beach now has a system of seats. The Commission seats are 1 – 4 and the Mayor’s Seat. This year two seats are on the Ballot: Seat 1

There was a report of an inci dent with a female Firefighter going into a house during a kitchen fire on her own. This is totally against protocol but after a thorough review it became a point of “she said, he said.” As the Chief said, he was behind her while the other officer was running the hose.
