As the number of COVID-19 cases in Broward continues to decline small groups (no larger than 10) can engage in athletic activities at beaches & in parks.

The tradition of Halloween over the years has been controversial to many, but this year it can be safe and a way to bring a sense of normalcy back to your family during these uncertain times.

As the number of COVID-19 cases in Broward continues to decline as a result of the restrictions in place with residents and businesses abiding by those restrictions, County Administrator Bertha Henry has issued Emergency Order 20-25, which relaxes some business, athletic events and function space restrictions.

County Administrator Henry said, “We thank the community for its compliance to Emergency Orders which have reduced the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Broward. As a result of that compliance, we can provide our businesses and residents with more flexibility by relaxing some restrictions. Our goal is to keep the numbers low enough that schools can safely reopen.”

Highlights of Emergency Order 20-25 include: Function spaces (ballrooms, banquet halls, catering halls, other event spaces) and other commercial facilities may operate on a limited basis. Spectators are permitted to attend non-professional Restrictions, Page 7A

The U.S. Supreme Court will not save us.

It doesn’t matter which party gets to pick the replacement to fill Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s seat on the U.S. Supreme Court.

The battle that is gearing up right now is yet even more of a distraction and a spin to keep us oblivious to the steady encroachment on our rights by the architects of the American Police State.

Americans can no longer rely on the courts to mete out justice.

Although the courts were established to serve as Courts of Justice, what we have been saddled with, instead, are Courts of Order. This is true at all levels of the judiciary, but especially so in the highest court of the land, the U.S. Supreme Court, which is seemingly more concerned with establishing order and protecting government interests than with upholding the rights of the people enshrined in the U.S.

Rarely do the justices of the

U.S. Supreme Court venture beyond their rarefied comfort zones.

Every so often, the justices toss a bone to those who fear they have abdicated their allegiance to the Constitution. Too often, however, the Supreme Court tends to march in lockstep with the police state.

In recent years, for example, the Court has ruled that police officers can use lethal force in car chases without fear of lawsuits; police officers can stop cars based only on “anonymous” tips; Secret Service agents are not accountable for their actions, as long as they’re done in the name of “security”; citizens only have a right to remain silent if they assert it; police have free reign to use drug-sniffing dogs as “search warrants on leashes,” justifying any and all police searches of vehicles stopped on the roadside; police can forcibly ‘We The People’, Page 5A

How Can A Divided Nation Unify?

Americans are sharply divided as the presidential election nears. While that’s not unusual in an election year, studies have indicated that the nation has never been more polarized, a trend that’s apparent everywhere from social media to the halls of Congress.

As the rift widens around critical issues, from the economy to civil rights, rediscovering the lost art of compromise could go a long way toward the healing that America needs, says Dr. Jim White (www.opportunityinvesting.com), author of Broken America: Ten Guiding Principles to Restore America.

“What if more Americans were to compromise?” White says. “What would be the downside? Absolutely nothing. At last, we would settle on common ground – love of country – and allow the most important points from each side to win the day.

“This is essential for us to reunify America. But today, people are out way too much to win and win big. Everything must be on their own terms. Compromise is an ability to listen to two sides of a disagreement and arrive at an amicable agreement that achieves a common goal.

It means we can work together to find solutions to our differences. All we need is an open heart and an open mind.”

White, who has been through many negotiations in his career while buying, expanding, and selling 23 multinational companies, has these tips for learning how to compromise: • Never have your mind made up. “If you have an open mind as you practice active listening, you might find that you agree with one or two points made by the other party,” White says. “That is a good thing, providing you with areas you can

concede to add balance against the places where you can’t. It takes a big person to see another person’s point of view enough to change their mind on the spot, and that will earn trust and respect.”

• Search for common ground. “This is a useful starting point,” White says. “It demonstrates the parties aren’t so far apart and have the capability of reaching an agreement.”

• Show the respect you expect. White says all input should be taken seriously and everyone’s voice should be heard. “No matter how you feel about someone else’s statement, do not discount or ridicule it,” White says. “It’s virtually impossible to walk a remark back once a person feels insulted.”

• Cut out the blame. The foundational mindset of compromise is that there is no right or wrong point of view. “Instead of focusing on who might be at fault,” White says, “think in terms of shared responsibility. Accusations only serve to make people defensive.”

• Broaden the basis of the negotiation. “A negotiation often flounders because it all hinges on one thing,” White says. “For example, a political disagreement on updating a zoning law may lean entirely on the geographical location of enforcement. But a politician could point out how the new law would benefit small businesses within the territory.”

• Look for opportunities to trade. Identify the issues most important to the other party and see if you can find a way to address them. “Stripping away the smaller issues and boiling them down to one central ‘give’ enables compromise to take place,” White says.

“When it comes to politics,” White says, “we all have a distinct commonality: pride in our country. As long as we do not preach hate or violence, we are all American patriots and we are all part of the same cause.”

‘We The People’ From Page 1A take your DNA, whether or not you’ve been convicted of a crime; police can stop, search, question and profile citizens and non-citizens alike; police can subject Americans to virtual strip searches, no matter the “offense”; police can break into homes without a warrant, even if it’s the wrong home and it’s a crime to not identify yourself when a policeman asks your name.

The cases the Supreme Court refuses to hear, allowing lower court judgments to stand, are almost as critical as the ones they rule on. Some of these cases have delivered devastating blows to the lives and rights enshrined in the Constitution.

By remaining silent, the Court has affirmed that: legally owning a firearm is enough to justify a no-knock raid by police; the military can arrest and detain American citizens; students can be subjected to random lockdowns and mass searches at school and police officers who don’t know their actions violate the law, aren’t guilty of breaking the law.

You think you’ve got rights? Think again.

All of those freedoms we cherish—the ones enshrined in the Constitution, the ones that affirm our right to free speech and assembly, due process, privacy, bodily integrity, the right to not have police seize our property without a warrant, or search and detain us without probable cause—amount to nothing when the government and its agents are allowed to disregard those prohibitions on government overreach at will.

In fact, our so-called rights have been reduced to technicalities in the face of the government’s ongoing power grabs.

In the police state being erected around us, the police can probe, poke, pinch, taser, search, seize, strip and generally manhandle anyone they see fit in almost any circumstance, all with the general blessing of the courts.

This is what one would call a slow death by a thousand cuts, only it’s the Fourth Amendment being inexorably bled to death by the very institution that is supposed to be protecting it (and us) from government abuse.

Remember, it was a unanimous Supreme Court which determined that police officers may use drug-sniffing dogs to conduct warrantless searches of cars during routine traffic stops. That same Court gave police the green light to taser defenseless motorists, strip search nonviolent suspects arrested for minor inci-

dents and break down people’s front doors without evidence that have done anything wrong.

Make no mistake about it: this is what constitutes “law and order” in the American police state.

These are the hallmarks of the emerging American police state, where police officers, no longer mere servants of the people entrusted with keeping the peace, are part of an elite ruling class dependent on keeping the masses corralled, under control and treated like suspects and enemies rather than citizens.

Whether it’s police officers breaking through people’s front doors and shooting them dead in their homes or strip searching motorists on the side of the road, in a police state such as ours, these instances of abuse are not condemned by the government. Rather, they are continually validated by a judicial system that kowtows to every police demand, no matter how unjust, no matter how in opposition to the Constitution.

In this way, the justices of the United States Supreme Court—through their deference to police power, preference for security over freedom and evisceration of our most basic rights for the sake of order and expediency—have become the architects of the American police state.

So where does that leave us?

Given the turbulence of our age, with its police overreach, military training drills on American soil, domestic surveillance, SWAT team raids, asset forfeiture, wrongful convictions, profit-driven prisons, corporate corruption and the need for a guardian of the people’s rights has never been greater.

Yet, as I make it clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, neither the president, nor the legislatures, nor the courts will save us from the police state that holds us in its clutches.

So we can waste our strength over the next few weeks and months raging over the makeup of the Supreme Court or we can stand united against the tyrant in our midst.

After all, the president, the legislatures and the courts are all on the government’s payroll.

They are the police state.

Businesses And Residents Have Been Left To Sort Through What Is Open & What Is Not

After last week’s announcements from the County and then a full exemption from the Governor of the ability to set local rules or governments, businesses and residents have been left to sort through what is open what is not and what we all can do, now these facilities are open.

The good news is that our infection rates have remained low.

While I am not recommending running out like all is normal, we all need to be updated.

I am stressing that we all need to continue wearing masks, wash our hands regularly and social distance. Practice the three C’s: avoid large crowds, closed rooms with bad ventilation and close conversions, we must remain vigilant.

The main changes have been the ability to open bars, pubs, nightclubs and adult entertainment facilities may open. Bars can be open to serve food at the counter. Broward had stricter requirements for distancing and capacity. There are still rules that require 6-foot distancing. Bars must have partitions. There can be no more than 10 people congregating at entrances, exits, restrooms or waiting areas and must be 6 feet apart. There is still a curfew from 11 PM to 5 AM for in service dining. Capacity is still at 50% inside and outdoors must be socially distanced. Indoor and outdoor capacity combined cannot exceed 100% of overall capacity of the establishments.

Billiards, darts and other adult arcade games are now permitted, but patrons are not allowed to consume food while playing.

Food consumption must take place while seated.

Entertainment can be provided, but there is a 10-foot requirement between entertainers and patrons. These rules do not preempt business owners to implement stricter rules, but must be

The biggest questions I am receiving are regarding conscious and HOA’s, there is nothing in the Governor’s or County’s Orders to prevent Boards from keeping the old rules or making the new rules stricter.

Community Rooms, Fitness Centers and gyms can be opened. Pool restrictions as well have been changed.

Capacity of all can only be at 50%. People can now play cards so long as masks are worn. The buildings must provide hand cleaning stations and clean the rooms regularly. Gyms can now be open. Machines must be a minimum of a 6-foot distance.

Hot tubs, saunas and showers must remain closed. Pools can only be used by residents, their families and their guests at a capacity of 50% and no groups

more than 10. Chairs and pool equipment can be used, but must be kept six feet apart. Pool showers can be open. All areas should be maintained and cleaned regularly and attendants must wear masks. Public pools can be opened, but also are bound by the 50% capacity.

Hotels have been open and operating in Broward. They can now have hotel events within specific guidelines. They must still follow CDC guidelines, masks, social distancing, no groups greater than 10 congregating. Their SPAs can be opened under specific guidelines. The big change is the ability to hold events. Ballrooms can be used at 50% capacity, there will be no event with a party of over 100. Tables can only be at 50% capacity. All attendees must have assigned seats.

Masks are to be worn when not eating or drinking. Dance floors are only allowed to be open for specific dances. If two people

are on the floor, no masks are required, if more people, masks are required.

Beaches are limited to 5am to 10 pm. Social distancing is still required. No group activities over ten people. Weddings and special events will be permitted but with a maximum of 100 people.

Beach buildings will remained closed, except for restrooms.

Commercial gyms can be open, but remain to require masks. Distance requirements have been reducing to six feet.

Other than swimming, masks are required and capacity at fitness classes are limited to the space required to provide social distancing. The difference is somewhat confusing as it allows for organized sports. Organized sports are soccer, baseball, softball, boxing and other sports as recognized by an athletic league or group organized by city.

City parks can be open with no more than 10 people in a group. Playgrounds are to remain closed. Children participating in sanctioned after school activities or city sponsored activities must wear facial coverings when not practicing in the activity or training. The CDC has put a level of risk on all these physical activities. Obviously, activities performed alone or with family members is low. Team based practices increase the risk during competitions. Full competitions between teams are more risky and the highest among team competitions involving traveling teams.

Hallandale Beach - Safe & Informed New Emergency Order Guidance From The Governor Governor Ron DeSantis issued revised Executive Order 20-244 this past week.

Under the Governor’s New Order all businesses, including bars, nightclubs and other establishments previously closed by local emergency orders, have been reopened. Local jurisdictions retain some rights to impose guidelines and restrictions as they deem fit for their community.

• All persons are required to wear face coverings at all times while using or visiting a gym or fitness center, including while exercising.

• All persons while outside their residence, when physical distancing cannot be maintained.

• All persons at an establishment including entering, exiting and when moving around, regardless of physical distancing.

Hallandale Eats Restaurant Week Supporting Local Restaurants During Covid-19 Crisis The Hallandale Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (HBCRA) was proud to present their Inaugural Hallandale Eats – Restaurant Week this past week September 24 - 30, 2020. The weeklong event fell underneath the CRA’s BE Local Campaign which was created to encourage Hallandale Beach residents, as well as visitors to “buy and eat locally” in an effort to support the local economy.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, many local businesses including

restaurants, eateries and caterers have experienced substantial loss in revenue or have been forced to close their doors. A New Approach to Post-Cancer Breast Reconstructive Surgery

The last thing Rachelle Duchatelier expected to hear from her doctor when she went for a routine gynecological exam was that she had a lump in one of her breasts. At 38 years old, breast cancer was the furthest thing from her mind. She had no family history of the disease and was feeling fine; but that day would change her life.

After having a mammogram performed, Rachelle received the news that she, indeed, had cancer in her left breast.

“It was at that moment that I said to myself, I will be the survivor,” says Rachelle.

“Fortunately, I was able to catch this early and avoid chemotherapy and radiation.”

Oncologists told Rachelle they would have to surgically remove 70% of her left breast.

However, wanting to avoid any further risks, Rachelle decided to have a double mastectomy, a surgical procedure undergone by women who have been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer to remove both the cancerous breast and the healthy breast to avoid cancer developing in the remaining breast later on.

According to a study published in JAMA Surgery, nearly half of women diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer consider having a double mastectomy and one in six – about 17% - follow through with the surgery.

For Rachelle, it was peace of mind and her then 18-year old son that motivated her to go this route.

“I didn’t want to have to wear a prosthetic bra,” says Rachelle.

“I wanted to turn a negative situation into a positive one.”

Like most, if not all women who experience a double mastectomy, Rachelle then underwent reconstructive breast implant surgery. However, the initial procedure she had was not done correctly.

“My breasts came out uneven and were hurting. It turns out one of my implants had flipped over,” said Rachelle.

It was at that point that a friend who had gone through her own breast cancer journey recommended that Rachelle visit Dr. Joshua Lampert, reconstructive and plastic surgeon in Aventura, Florida.

Dr. Lampert was able to utilize a distinct and innovative procedure called fat grafting to help reconstruct Rachelle’s breasts. In this approach, fat is harvested and pulled from other areas of the patient’s body such as the stomach, thighs, arms and love handles to help recreate the breasts to look and feel as natural as possible.

“The one thing many patients like about fat grafting is that the fat harvest site often allows for body contouring similar to liposuction,” said Dr. Lampert.

“Unlike some other reconstructive procedures, the fat donor site often looks better afterwards.”

“The fat is artistically injected into the areas of soft tissue that we want to add volume to,” Dr. Lampert explained. “It is also very useful to inject the fat under

“Out of all the doctors I had spoken to before I found Dr. Lampert, none of them were able to do the fat transfer to the breasts,” said Rachelle. “With him, I saw that I had the possibility to have my breasts look good as I grew older. Regaining that self confidence and being happy with the way I looked was important to me after everything I had experienced.”

Rachelle was able to harvest fat from her abdominal area in order to recreate her breasts.

Since Dr. Lampert was already working in that area, he offered Rachelle the opportunity to also undergo abdominal etching. This allows for the abdominal area to be sculpted to enhance the appearance of one’s waistline and create “six-pack” abdominal muscles.

“Abdominal etching is actually a very simple procedure to perform, especially for someone like Rachelle, since we were already working in that area anyway,”

“I am so grateful that I found Dr. Lampert who was not only able to give me a better body than when I started but, more importantly, the confidence to live the life that was given back to me.”

Freedom is as precious as life itself. But its true value is rarely appreciated by people unless it is either threatened or lost.

Although the human spirit yearns for freedom, tyrannical regimes have been the norm throughout history. Since the dawn of mankind, people around the world have lived miserable, subjugated lives repressed by monarchs, fascists, tyrants, and dictators who controlled virtually every aspect of their lives.

In 1776, America became the first country founded on the recognition of the sanctity of individual freedom. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is the core of America.

The United States was the only country established exclusively on the principle of individual liberty as an unalienable right.

The founders of America recognized freedom as a fundamental human right, not something bestowed by an individual or group. Our Constitution was writ-

ten specifically to protect our rights and freedoms from being usurped by power hungry tyrants.

America was established for the expressed purpose of safeguarding the individual from oppression, tyranny, and subjugation. America’s founders recognized each individual as having the freedom to succeed.

Even today, most countries on earth do not permit freedom for their populations.

Governments or tyrants decide what is allowable within the societies they control. In these countries, individuals do not have freedom to make their own choices. Oppression is often enforced under the guise of safety, security, health, and fairness.

Freedom is so precious that individuals risk everything to

attain it. Throughout our history, people have constantly fled to America from oppressive societies. They came here just for the opportunity to live in freedom.

The first settlers who arrived in this country had endured perilous ocean journeys that lasted for months. They left most, if not all of their possessions behind in order to reach a land where they could live their lives free from oppression.

The power of freedom unleashed the human spirit as never before. In less than 200 years, Americans had invented,

Cleaner, Healthier Hollywood Changes to Hollywood Sanitation Collection Services Begin This Week The City of Hollywood is introducing a new initiative, “Cleaner, Healthier Hollywood,” with the goal of beautifying the community and improve residents’ quality of life by modifying sanitation service requirements.

Those who were born in America have known only freedom. Too many take liberty for granted. They don’t value their freedom as being precious. They are too willing to accept the lies being told by those who are eliminating one freedom after another.

Your freedom is not free.

Countless people have given their lives so that you may live free. If you are not vigilant, you will lose your freedom. Freedoms lost are extremely difficult to get back. If you don’t recognize how precious your freedom is, and speak out against anyone trying to take it, you will lose your freedom.
