Half of Floridians Say They Have Suffered This Year

Sunny Isles Beach One of the goals for “The Rebranding Sunny Isles Beach” is to establish a brand for the City that will endure future developments, create a lasting impact on the community, and represent the community, its diversity and its unique geographic location.

Over a quarter of adults say social distancing and loneliness has been their biggest stressor this year. With a global pandemic still raging across America, resulting in separation from loved ones due to social distancing, as well as growing unemployment rates and economic uncertainty for many, it is perhaps no wonder there has been an increase in the need for mental health treatment. With disruptions to many Americans’ social lives, it may be difficult to reach out for help during this time, which can lead to people restraining their emotions and keeping them inside. This is often referred to as ‘quiet stress’ and while it may not sound serious, it can contribute to a range of different illnesses, such as addiction, lowered immunity and heart disease. American Addiction Centers, a leading provider of substance addiction treatment resources, conducted a survey of 3,000 adults, which found that over half (58%) of Floridians say they believe they have suffered from ‘quiet stress’ this year. Throughout the next year, they will be conducting studies, surveys and other public events to gain your feedback and input on how they can brand the City as a collective group. Housing Assistance Programs: Miami-Dade Is Offering Help Sunny Isles Beach and the Town of Bay Harbor Island are taking part in the Miami-Dade Municipality Housing Assistance Program. This program aims to relieve the financial burden of tenants and homeowners who have lost income due to COVID19 and keep Miamians in their homes to support a strong recovery. The program is designed to support tenants and homeowners with up to six (6) months or $6,000 of past due mortgage or rental assistance. This is an additional program to further assist residents who may not have been eligible for other Miami-Dade County housing assistance programs, residents in need of housing assistance should apply right away. Funds will be paid directly to the landlord or mortgage lender in the form of a grant by MiamiDade County, which must be used solely to provide rent or mortgage forgiveness in the same amount to eligible tenants
