Hallandale Beach Names City Manager, City Attorney • SEE MAYOR JOY COOPER’S COLUMN ON PAGE 4A. Hallandale Beach City Commissioners selected former municipal executive Roger Carlton as the new City Manager at a Special City Commission meeting on Wednesday, and Jennifer Merino of the general counsel in the Broward County Office of Inspector General as the new City Attorney. The City Manager and City Attorney are the only two positions hired directly by the City Commission. Both appointments were unanimous 5-0 votes by the Mayor and City Com-

mission. Mr. Carlton brings four decades of executive management to the City, including serving as City Manager for Miami Beach and Town Manager for Surfside. He served as Acting City Manager for the City of South Miami, and was chief of staff for Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez when the Mayor was a County Commissioner. Mr. Carlton was selected out of 23 applicants for the position to manage the City’s more than $100 million budget

The longtime school teacher at Nova High in Davie, Vitale, 61, is certainly one of those people you meet, that if she didn’t have her vision, her life would certainly be much, much different.

His energy and passion for promoting every community and for being such a positive ambassador of a bright future, is what he’s always been about. For the past 18 years, Llorente has been one of the faces of Mount Sinai Medical Center in Aventura, where he is the Community Relations and Outreach Manager, after coming up through the ranks, learning at every step. It’s through that position he has been able to make an impact - by connecting and interacting with the community on a daily basis. He has also been able to broaden his reach by interacting with physicians, nurses, managers, administrators and patients. “Not another job like it,” Llorente said. “I don’t know
