For many of the businesses in this area of the country that once again had to endure a long, hot summer, even rumors of the season coming in the second week of November was enough to at least smile and understand that the months that our many communities live for each year, are indeed on the horizon. While she has had to wear glasses for nearsightedness and astigmatism since the age of 12, Delores Termo's serious vision problems didn't start to go downhill until a year ago - two years after she retired from her job at Nova Southeastern University. A financial administrator at the prestigious Davie campus for 23 years, Termo, an avid reader, never had problems with her eyesight, until the age of 63, despite being a diabetic. "During all the years I worked, I never experienced any real problems with my eyes," she said. "But having cataract issues in our family, I wasn't totally surprised when I was told the news." For the past 15 years, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl has been the nation’s premier high school football game, serving as the preeminent launching pad for America’s future college and NFL stars. Andrew Luck, Patrick Peterson, and Jamaal Charles made their national debuts as U.S. Army All-Americans. The 2014 game drew a crowd of 40,017 to the Alamodome and was the most-watched sporting event on television over the weekend, excluding the NFL playoffs.
HALLANDALE BEACH A replica of the National Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall drew hundreds of veterans and family members during its four-day stop in Hallandale Beach. The 108-foot replica wall was emblazoned with the names of fallen soldiers from the Vietnam War. Page 1D.
