• A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT DRUMMER Greetings! Since its founding more than 50 years ago, ColumbiaGreene Community College has been meeting the educational needs for residents of all ages in the Twin Counties. Building community is what we do – C-GCC has enabled countless students to continue learning during times of uncertainty, most recently the great recession of 2008. Although the past several months have brought into clear focus how quickly life can change, the mission of the College remains the same: to provide the best education possible for those embarking in new career directions or seeking personal enrichment. Learning does not pause, even during a global pandemic. In the past several months, CoGreene has responded to the “new normal” by providing new learning options for students in both credit and noncredit programs. To that end, C-GCC is proud to announce a partnership with ed2go, one of the nation’s leading providers of remote career education (read more on this page). Plus, Black Rocket Camps – a familiar presence on campus – will continue to offer children’s activities remotely that foster innate creativity and stimulate innovative thinking (see page 3). Let’s keep the learning momentum going this summer – and Let’s Go, #CoGreene!

Carlee Drummer, Ph.D. President

C-GCC Foundation Launches CoGreene Cares Campaign AIMS TO BOLSTER STUDENT EMERGENCY FUND THROUGH $50,000 SUNY MATCH BY JULY 1 The Columbia-Greene Community College Foundation has launched the CoGreene Cares Campaign, designed to help students impacted by COVID-19 stay on track to earn a degree or certificate. Joan Koweek, executive director of the C-GCC Foundation, explained that a special initiative made possible by an anonymous donor to the State University of New York is offering a $50,000 matching grant to all SUNY campuses between now and Wednesday, July 1. “This fund has the potential to keep students on track to complete their academic paths and become assets to our communities,” said Koweek, adding that anyone may make a contribution to the campaign in any amount, and that gift will be matched on a one-to-one basis once the $50,000 threshold is met. “We have so many students who have lost jobs and are struggling with paying rent, tuition, car insurance, and food, just to name a few obstacles.” C-GCC President Carlee Drummer, Ph.D., noted that the CoGreene Cares Campaign launched in conjunction with the international Giving Tuesday Now campaign on Tuesday, May 5 – a global day of giving and unity serving as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

The CoGreene Cares Campaign was launched in response to a $50,000 matching grant offered to all SUNY campuses, and aims to meet its fundraising goal by July 1.

“The College has been presented with an opportunity to help its students in some very meaningful ways, through both the global Giving Tuesday Now initiative and the generosity of SUNY and its donors,” she said. “The ripple effect created by this pandemic will continue into the Fall semester, if not beyond, and it is incumbent upon us to do what we can to give our students the tools to build a better tomorrow.”

To help match the $50,000 grant — and add $100,000 to the C-GCC Student Emergency Fund — visit donorbox. org/cogreenecares, or send a check to C-GCC Foundation, 4400 Route 23, Hudson, N.Y., 12534. For more information, please contact the C-GCC Foundation at cgccfoundation@sunycgcc.edu, or visit SUNYcgcc.edu.
