everyone’s talking about... CELEBRITIES LAMBAST SUPREME COURT RULING
Celebrities including Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Madonna, John Legend and Olivia Rodrigo have spoken out publicly about the overturning of Roe v Wade which has put an end to guaranteed abortion rights Stateside. Taylor Swift said of the ruling: “I’m absolutely terrified that this is where we are. That after so many decades of people fighting for women’s rights to their own bodies, t o d a y ’ s decision has stripped us of that.” M i c h e l l e Obama the former First Lady wrote that she was “heartbroken” by the horrifying decision made by the Supreme Court, adding that it will have devastating consequences. “I am heartbroken that we may now be destined to learn the painful lessons of the time before Roe was made law of the land - a time when women risked losing their lives getting illegal abortions, a time when the government denied women control over their reproductive functions, forced them to move forward with pregnancies they didn’t want, and then abandoned them once

their babies were born.” Madonna, 63, took to Instagram on June 26 to write: “I woke up to the terrifying news that we no longer have rights as women over our bodies. This decision has plunged me and every other woman in this country into deep despair.” Madonna continued: “Now the Supreme Court has decided that Women’s rights are no longer constitutional rights. In fact, we have less rights than a gun. I am scared for my daughters,” the star continued. “I’m scared for all women in America. I am just plain scared.” Meanwhile, John Legend shared a video of police officers in riot gear heading over to the Supreme Court building, tweeting: “Storm troopers on their way to tell women to shut up and accept governmentmandated childbirth. Sickening.” The US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade has essentially removed the right to abortion in America and could damage reproductive rights across the world. In 1973, abortion was made legal in the US thanks to the then landmark Roe v Wade case. Abortion is considered an extremely safe and common m e d i c a l procedure. Globally, nearly 1 in 3 pregnancies end in abortion and in the US, 1 in 4 women will have an abortion in their lifetime according to reports. Please note the Roe v Wade judgment does not affect the right to access abortion care in the UK.
NEWS BRITNEY & SAM GET MARRIED Pop Star Britney Spears has married her long-term boyfriend Sam Asghari in an intimate ceremony with just 60 friends and relatives at their Californian home. “We really wanted to make this a small and beautiful moment with family and friends,” Britney said. Among the guests at the June 9th wedding were Donatella Versace, Madonna, Drew Barrymore and Will.i.am. The couple, who have been dating for 5 years since meeting on the set of Britney’s ‘Slumber Party’ music video in 2016, got engaged in September 2021. “I can’t f**king believe it,” Britney captioned at the time showing off her round-cut, fourcarat diamond ring. The news comes a few weeks after the ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ singer sparked concern from fans after posting
naked photographs of herself on Instagram following her 40th birthday celebrations. And it was only last year the 13-year conservatorship that had been hanging over Britney was finally lifted by the LA Courts giving her new-found freedom. Naked pics and a third wedding, implies she definitely has! Apparently new music is on the horizon soon so watch this space.
DEBORAH ‘BOWEL BABE’ JAMES PASSES ‘You, Me and The Big C’ Podcaster, Deborah James died at her Surrey home surrounded by family members on June 28th, aged 40. Deborah was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer in 2016 and had fought tirelessly to raise awareness and help others come to terms with living with terminal disease. Her family broke the news on Instagram and paid tribute to Deborah as “amazing” and “an inspiration”. Deborah has raised over £7 Million for Cancer Research through her Go Fund Me page and charity Bowel Babe. Deborah, who has shared every step of her experience with stage 4 bowel cancer was awarded a damehood by The Queen in May. She leaves behind her husband of 13 years Sebastien and two children, Hugo (14) and Elouise (12). Surrey resident Mike Simms said at the time of going to press, he was sorry to hear about Deborah’s passing and urged people to be vigilant to the warning signs of cancer, “Last week very sadly my own wife Ania passed away peacefully at home surrounded by our 3 wonderful children and all those close to her. When we found out the news close to 2 years ago, it was already stage 4, primary bowel cancer with secondary in the liver and lungs. I wanted to pass on the awareness of this terrible condition. Be vigilant all, if cancer (any form) is caught early we have a greater chance to fight it.” Deborah signed out with a very unembarrassed quote: “Check your poo!” Never one to mince her words, she is right. Checking blood in your stool is the only precursor to spotting the early signs of bowel cancer.
MAXWELL GETS A WHOPPING 20 YEARS Ghislaine Maxwell was been given a 20-year sentence for her part in “recruiting and trafficking teenage girls” for convicted paedophile Geoffrey Epstein. She has been moved to a medium security centre in Connecticut to serve the remainder of her sentence, having served 23 months in a Brooklyn jail.
The socialite, 60, was convicted in December 2021 - being found guilty on all charges. Her defence team were attempting to get a 4-year sentence but the judge was strict to impose the maximum term. It is believed that over 50-100 girls were trafficked by Maxwell and Epstein from 1994 and 2004.

TALK TO ME GOOSE! In weird tech news, Amazon has just announced that it can bring back the voices of any of your dead friends or relatives with a simple one-minute recording. Top Gun’s Maverick would be able to play a one-minute audio from his flying companion and then for the rest of his life be able to chat to Goose as his Alexa ‘companion’. Or missing your Grandma? She could be the new voice of choice on your Alexa device. The company revealed the new advances in its AI application at its MARS (machine learning, automation, robotics, and space) conference in June. And from this it’s clear that Amazon no longer sees Alexa as just a personal assistant, but also “an advisor and companion.” It’s that latter role that inspired Alexa to reproduce any voice from just a oneminute recording. The main use? To allow the creation of “lasting personal relationships” with deceased loved ones according to the tech giant. Rohit Prasad, SVP and head scientist at Alexa AI, made the reveal showing a video

demonstration in which a young boy asks his panda model Echo Dot for Kids, “Alex, can Grandma finish reading me the ‘Wizard of Oz’?” “OK,” Alexa replies, before changing her voice and reading while the boy turns the pages of his book. In case you are not a user, Alexa currently has two main voices, plus a few celebrity voices including Samuel L. Jackson and Melissa McCarthy. “Having Alexa speak like Samuel L. Jackson is pretty cool, but this new development feels a little concerning for me,” reveals Joseph Foley from Creative Bloq. “While it’s admirable that Amazon wants to combat loneliness and help people deal with loss (it says it was particularly inspired by the Covid-19 pandemic) I can’t help but be a little creeped out.”
Others were quick to point out the weirdness of Amazon’s latest announcement. Respected news site ZDNet said on hearing the announcement, “Did the hairs on the back of your neck just raise up? Cause that’s not creep at all!”

NETFLIX INTRODUCES ADS The San Francisco-based company is apparently aiming to roll its ad-tier stream to customers by the end of 2022. Meanwhile, Amazon Prime introduced its ad-tier streaming service earlier in the year and it has proved a hit with viewers. So, in reality it wasn’t going to be long for its nearest and dearest rival Netflix to follow suit.

Netflix’s CEO Ted Sarandos has confirmed that the company plans to introduce an ad-supported tier to its streaming service shortly. This means that previously top billed films that Netflix don’t currently show could get rolled out on the service. Viewers will have to watch 40-60 seconds worth of ads a few times during films, as part of the rollout plans, it has been mooted. “We’ve left a big customer segment off the table, which is people who say: ‘Hey, Netflix is too expensive for me and I don’t mind advertising,’” Sarandos revealed to The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re adding an ad tier; we’re not adding ads to Netflix as you know it today. We’re adding an ad tier for folks who say, ‘Hey, I want a lower price and I’ll watch ads,” he said at the Cannes Lions Ad Festival last month.

GRECIANGODDESS Grecian inspired silhouettes and gold trousers, skirts and accessories were reinvented at the Dior 2022 Cruise Collection, released at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens on June 17th to a crowd of over 700 celebs and fashion influencers. A series of iconic photographs of one of Monsieur Dior’s haute couture lines, taken near the Parthenon in 1951, was the inspiration for this new collection by Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri. According to Dior: “Art lies not in the object created, but in one’s ability to create,” using the peplum style as an example before going onto give references to “the goddess tunic, evoking marble and ancient statuary, resolutely ethereal thanks to its fabrics and handmade pleats; a chiaroscuro in fluting.” For Maria Grazia Chiuri each collection represents an opportunity to build creative dialogues infused with a collective energy. 5. Meanwhile, combine parmesan, parsley, hazelnuts, lemon zest and juice, and 3 tbsp of oil in a bow. Season with salt and pepper. 5. Brush romaine with remaining oil. Season with salt and pepper. Grill over direct heat, turning once until charred and wilted, 1-3 minutes. 6. Serve the chicken and romaine topped with the parsleylemon sauce.
WINE MATCH Chardonnay is the perfect pairing to any lemon chicken dish. Chardonnay is high in acidity – just like lemons, and it even has citrusy flavours. Food and wine that is high in acidity make the mouth salivate so the two pair extremely well together. Whilst Chardonnay is the perfect match, be careful when picking on and make sure you stay away from the oaky, buttery ones like Rombauer. Sauvignon Blanc is also an obvious choice for grilled lemon dishes, and it will also compliment the romaine perfectly.

NEWS MOVIE REVIEW
MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU This is the second film in the ‘Minions’ franchise following the breakout success of the yellow pillow shaped characters when they first appeared in ‘Despicable Me’ back in 2010 and their own film ‘Minions’ in 2015. This new Minion outing from Illumination is released on July 1st and sees lead character and villain Felonious Gru transported back to his youth and details how he tries to join a group of supervillains called the Vicious 6 after they oust their leader, the legendary fighter Wild Knuckles. When the interview turns disastrous, Gru and his Minions go on the run with the Vicious 6 hot on their tails. Luckily, he finds an unlikely source for guidance, Wild Knuckles himself, and soon discovers that even bad guys need a little help from their friends. The film reprises ‘Office’ actor Steve Carrell as Gru, Alan Arkin as Wild Knuckles and Brit Comedian Russell Brand as Dr Nefario. As its set in the 1970’s there are lots of nostalgic nods to the era that parents and grandparents taking kids to see over the summer will appreciate! Having already achieved a 7.5 on IMDB before its official release this film is set to be another box office smash for Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures. The first ‘Minions’ netted $1.6bn in worldwide making it the 10th highest grossing film of all time. Let’s see if they can break that record.
ALBUM REVIEW
BEYONCE RENAISSANCE Beyonce is set to release her new album ‘Renaissance’ on July 29th and almost broke the internet when she let slip to fans in June that it was on the way! This is the artist’s sixth studio album and comes after a long break; her last album ‘Lemonade’ was released back in 2016. Not many details have been shared about the new release yet although Beyonce’s recent Vogue cover shoot (pictured here) gives a firm nod to the seventies and disco era, so fans are expecting it to have more of a dance vibe than her previous RnB led songs and albums. It is also widely tipped that Ryan Tedder who cowrote her hit ‘Halo’ is back on board for this new album alongside Raphael Saadiq, who has crafted hits for Mary J Blige and John Legend, among others. Beyonce said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar that she had begun working on new music. “With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again,” she said. “I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible. I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies. There’s nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine years old. Yes, the music is coming!” We can’t wait to hear what the new album will be like.
BOOK REVIEW
THE IT GIRL Sussex born Ruth Ware, the Number 1 New York Times bestselling author of ‘One by One’ and ‘The Turn of the Key’ returns this July with a haunting mystery novel following a woman on the search for answers after her best friend’s murder. April Coutts-Cliveden was the first-person Hannah Jones ever met at Oxford University. Vivacious, bright, occasionally vicious, and the ultimate ‘It girl’, she quickly pulled Hannah into her dazzling orbit. Together, they developed a group of devoted and inseparable friends - Will, Hugh, Ryan, and Emily - during their first term. By the end of the second term, April was dead. Now, a decade later, Hannah and Will are expecting their first child, and the man convicted of killing April, former Oxford porter John Neville, has died in prison. Relieved to have finally put the past behind her, Hannah’s world is rocked when a young journalist comes knocking and presents new evidence that Neville may have been innocent. As Hannah reconnects with old friends and delves deeper into the mystery of April’s death, she realises that the friends she thought she knew all have something to hide, including a murder. You won’t be able to put down this scintillating page turner of a novel by Ruth Ware. Great summer holiday reading.

S
howcasing sincerity since her music debut ‘All About Us’ in 2018, this sensational singer/ songwriter is all about keeping it real. Excelling in the ever-growing world of dance-pop, her last release, ‘If You Wanna Love Me’, hit the No.2 spot in the Music Week Commercial Pop Charts. Her latest track, ‘He Ain’t You’, which Allegra recently announced on BBC’s Playlist Show, is already achieving accolades a-go-go. “Finding out that ‘If You Wanna Love Me’ was No.2 in the Music Week Charts was just so incredible!” Allegra tells me. “I had a lot of fun filming the music video, as it gave me a more 70’s disco vibe. Everyone has been enjoying the song, and I’ve been getting so much love from all the DJs!”
MAJESTIC REMIX So much so that Kiss FM’s DJ Majestic made a magical remix of the popular single. “My team approached Majestic with no expectations really and getting the ‘phone call from him to say that he loved the track and wanted to do a remix was just so unexpected!” she explains. “I remember listening to it on Kiss FM and I was just dancing around my kitchen in my PJ’s!” She shot the music video here in Surrey, in a bowling alley in Guildford. The fun-loving party girls’ inspiration behind her empowering track? “It’s important to me that every song that I release has an empowering message… I don’t want to release songs just for the sake of it. I work very hard with my team, and I make sure that my vision is put out in every project.” “It’s all about knowing your worth,” she says of her last single, which stresses the importance of self-care. “That particular track is all about self-love and not needing someone to make you feel loved, and I just love that message.” “When I made my New Year’s resolutions, I said that this is a year to be selfish and to become the best version of myself,” the young popstar reveals. “I found that 2021 was a very difficult year for myself and many others, so this year, I’m putting myself first and I’m just gonna love myself. I think that’s more important. So, I now just focus on the things that I love… well, the THING that I love… which is music.”
HE AIN’T YOU She says her latest release, ‘He Ain’t You’, also reflects on personal experience. “So, it’s about how you’ve met the perfect person, who treats you like a princess, but you just end up craving the guy you used to be with who treated you badly. I know the old person cheated on me and forgot about me and didn’t really care, but you just crave the other person. You can’t help it…” How has the new track been received so far? “Very well! It’s just entered the music pop charts and is working its way up! This is definitely something very different, and I think my fans will see a different side to me and how I have developed as an artist. I think everyone will see a slight change in my musical style… exciting things are coming!”

FOLLOWING IN SPICEY FOOTSTEPS With five singles and a multitude of remixes under her musical belt, fast-rising artist Allegra offers words of love, empowerment, defiance, power and reliability through her catchy melodies coupled with direct lyrics and infectious beats. “You always think that once a song is out it should be fastpaced, but there’s a lot of work going on behind it,” she explains. The spirited pop star, co-managed by Matt Meyers and Surrey-based Chris Herbert (who co-founded The Spice Girls), sets a positive mood with her feisty anthems of assertiveness, enjoying an empowering, confident vibe. Her infectious hits are described as dynamic dance-pop tunes that instantly make life feel brighter. “They show the importance of valuing ourselves and never settling for less than what we want or deserve,” Allegra reveals.
MUSIC ICONS Her musical heroes? “My parents gave me a CD player and the music I loved playing was Alicia Keys, The Saturdays, Alexandra Burke, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Amy Macdonald… I was also given a bright pink microphone and would just sing all the songs in a mirror and pretend I was on stage with them!” “I also love love love Beyoncé! I admire her work ethic, too… it’s really inspirational. I watched her documentary, and she very much wants to be the first person and last person in the room, and it inspired me to put the hard work in as well.” As for a collab, “I would really like to collaborate with Rita Ora,” Allegra discloses. “She’s kind of like a childhood hero and she’s just so cool, and I feel like we’d get on very well writing a song and doing a music video together. She seems very cool and I love her fashion sense. Whenever I’m doing an inspirational outfit, I always look at images of Rita.” Alluring Allegra’s also all about fashion. “I LOVED doing this shoot with you and Earl, Angela! He’s such a fab photographer and these outfits from Ruby La La are GORGEOUS… really cool. I especially enjoyed rocking the black jumpsuit and the silver sparkly dress!”
BBC SATURDAY MASH-UP Allegra recently showcased a captivating performance on CBBC’s ‘Saturday Mash Up’, a live entertainment show where ANYTHING can happen! “We got the call just three days before, so we had only two days of rehearsals, plus the travel there, and because of Covid I hadn’t done any live performances for a long time. So, I just had to do it alone - rehearsing, vocal lessons and dance lessons as well.” With live music, hilarious games, and stacks of slime, hosts Harpz Kaur, Joe Tasker and puppet monster Stanley (Dave Chapman) made sure Allegra had a ball…. “It’s a lot of fun! There was a live audience and all the sweet little kids… It was really fun to be back performing, and now I’ve got the bug for performing live again!”
TIK-TOK STAR This talented singer is something of a TikTok star too. “I LOVE TikTok! I get quite embarrassed looking at my lockdown TikToks, ‘coz it feels like that was a weird phase for everyone… I don’t know if everyone feels the same, but I don’t want anyone to see them!
SURREYROCKS | ISSUE 11

NEWS TikTok is a lot of fun and you can get your friends involved, and then having my own music on - it’s amazing to have all these influencers using my music… I had Tayler Holder from Hype House (who has billions of followers) using the song and all my friends were like, ‘Wow! This is so cool, how did this happen?’.... I’m like, ‘I don’t know!”
WIMBLEDON HERITAGE With Wimbledon in full swing, the half Swiss-German singing star reveals a strong SW19 connection… “My mum used to be a professional tennis player and played at Wimbledon at a young age. She was quite famous and trained with Serena and Venus Williams. And she still plays at Wimbledon. So, I almost feel like I’m experiencing a part of her childhood and the hard work she went through as an athlete. She trained so much as a little girl and was traveling all over the world.” Her name was Emily Bond, which was quite cool as the newspapers would call her ‘The Undefeated Bond!’ She has that work ethic as well. She’s so competitive and thrashes me when we play. She made a man cry once on court! All my friends are scared to play with her… She loves her tennis!” “I think she would have done really well, had she pursued it… But if she hadn’t had quit, she wouldn’t have met my dad, so… it all happens for a reason!” Her tennis icons? “I love Federer! Obviously, because he’s got Swiss in him, which I do, too... I think he’s so stylish. You see him against Nadal and it’s funny to see the Spanish kind of roughlooking stallion compared to the stylish Swiss!” she laughs. What does she love the most about Wimbledon? “I love that everyone dresses up and enjoys strawberries with cream and Champagne,” she divulges. “I can’t WAIT for Lady Wimbledon’s Tennis Party on 2nd July at Warren House. Lots of famous faces will be there and we’ll be indulging in Pimm’s, Wimbledon Garden Gin, strawberries and cream, live entertainment and there’ll also be a big outdoor screen for watching the tennis. Come along and join in the fun!”
NEW MUSIC This young pop star’s been busy working on new music lately. “I was a bit ill for a while with Covid and glandular fever, which kind of restricted things and was so boring because I’m so used to doing things. But I’m now happy to be back and have been writing a lot with two producers and recording, which has been really fun.” This hardworking rising star is also still a student. “I’m studying History of Art at University. I’m also doing work experience in the Haynes Gallery. I say I’m only going to University for my parents (but don’t tell them that!) I mean, I said at the beginning of student life, ‘Yah, I can’t wait to learn things.’ And now I’m like ‘I can’t wait to leave…’ I just want to be doing my music!” Back with her management team, she’s been doing just that. “I’ve been writing a lot of songs and I’m really excited about things because we were able to sit down and say, ‘What do you want? What sound do you want? What do you want the production to sound like?’” This is ideal for hands-on Allegra as she adores having her own input. “It’s really important. I’ve always been very fussy, especially now that I’ve been doing this for a while… I’ve become even fussier! I’m also my very best own critic when it comes to recording. I record something a hundred times sometimes - I just want it to be perfect.” Live performances will be coming up soon too, so watch this space!

HORSES HELPING OUR MENTAL HEALTH With her latest track racing up the charts, any spare time sees Allegra in her rewarding role as a charity ambassador, raising awareness of the mental health charity Strength and Learning Through Horses. “I’ve always loved charity work, ever since I was a little girl,” she explains. “As kids, with my cousins and siblings, we’d always come together on holiday and do performances. And I was the bossy one. And these performances weren’t two minutes long... they were hours long! We have a big family and we’d make my aunts
Thankfully, music then came into her life, offering a muchneeded escape from the classroom. “I didn’t know if I was good at it, but I didn’t care…” she says. “It was a different world from the classroom, and when I sang I was in my element. My own person.” Having endured her own hardships, she understands the importance of being able to access mental health support when it’s needed, which is why she was thrilled to become a Charity Champion for Strength and Learning Through Horses. “I really believe in the work that they do,” she says.
‘YOU’RE NEVER ALONE’ – ALLEGRA ON MENTAL HEALTH Her message to teens and young adults struggling with their mental health? “A lot of people struggled with mental health during the lockdowns and I really struggled, too… What’s important is to be close to the ones you love. Try to open up you’re not alone. There are people who do love you if you think that they don’t… you have your family, siblings, cousins and friends, there are people who love and care, so just open up and know that people are there for you.” Allegra has advice aplenty on the mental health benefits of music, reading, writing and crafting, too. “I always make playlists for different moods, and I think that helps. You need to find little things that can help you along when you’re feeling a little bit down… Everyone has their days… I mean … I was crying yesterday for no reason,” she reveals. “Even if you don’t love music, try things like reading a book, or writing poetry or scrapbooking. Find something that is therapeutic. Whenever I want to communicate something, I write letters. It’s just finding the little things that help you and, obviously, communication is key. People think they’re alone but they’re not.”
LEAD YOUR OWN WAY
and parents come and we’d make them pay. We tried to do it every day to make more money to give to charity.” “So, I’ve always been into charity work, I guess, and I’ve always said to my team that I’m up for it if there’s opportunity for me to help a charity and I’m really excited about it.” The equine-assisted education and therapy centre helps young people aged between 5-25 to overcome anxiety, stress and other mental health issues. The ‘mane’ appeal of working with horses? “I used to do a little bit of riding, and my cousin trains horses, so horses have always been there!” Allegra went through her own adversities at school. Diagnosed with dyslexia, her schools failed in providing or offering the support that she needed, causing a decline in her mental wellbeing.
“I guess every teenager goes through a phase where they think, ‘I have to look a certain way and I have to do this because everyone is doing it.’ I’m a shepherd, not a sheep. I like to lead my own way. I like being my own person. Self-care, I guess, is just doing what you love. If you don’t like to do sports, that’s fine. If wearing face masks help you then do that. It’s all about loving yourself.” Allegra’s now living her ‘best life’ to the full, with a buzzy bunch of girlfriends in SW London. “They are Uni friends and I’m just having the best time! I just recently moved out of home, so I’m happy to have my own space. I come from a big family home, so it can be a lot sometimes, but at the same time, I haven’t moved far from my family home. I went to boarding school as a young girl, so I love being with my friends. I’m quite the socialite. I love socialising, going out, and dancing.” What’s up next for Allegra? “There are a few tracks and a new EP will be coming soon. I’m pushing my team, who have worked with me since I was 14, so they’ve seen me grow up and my last video was quite like racy! It was filmed in a bath, and there’s a shower scene with a guy… I loved it! I wasn’t at all scared and I’m very open, and I was like, ‘Come in everyone!’ So, I’m now like, ‘Come on guys. Let’s go!’ I’m very fast-paced too, I want to do this, this and this! I like doing behind-the-scenes Vlogs during music videos, which a lot of pop artists won’t do because it’s so busy but I’m always like ‘No, I have to do it’, ‘cos I always want to see behind the scenes from the artists. I always like to bring that extra bit.” And what does the future hold for Allegra? “I definitely want to release a lot more music… I just want to focus on music and loving my friends, my family and myself!”

70 SURREYROCKS | ISSUE 11
E
lectromagnetic Body Sculpting with Opatra Genesis uses high intensity focused electromagnetic field (HIFEM) technology to affect muscles in a way that we wouldn’t do voluntarily. Dr Paul Jarrod Frank explains that in a normal squat or crunch we activate 50% of the muscle group for 3-5 seconds, whereas HIFEM activates 100% of the muscle 22,000 times in a 30-minute period. Wow! In response to these contractions, the muscle reconstructs itself and fat cells in the area are eliminated. It is considered that HIFEM is equivalent to 10 hours in the gym for a 30-minute session – relaxing with your fully qualified beauty therapist.
Hifem is now available exclusively at B Medi Spa in Dorking and Reigate.
VISIBLE RESULTS IN 2-3 WEEKS The visible effects of HIFEM are noticed in 2-3 weeks after the last treatment but will probably go on improving if fully supported by healthy lifestyle choices well beyond this. Fat cells that are destroyed through ‘apoptosis’ are naturally and gradually eliminated by the body. Improvement of the overlying fat is typically seen in 2-3 weeks after the treatment.
faster rate. Just as a break in working out causes muscle to atrophy over time, this is no different. DO NOT TRY HIFEM IF YOU HAVE... • Metal implants • A pacemaker or history of cardiac issues/ seizures • A hernia or recent surgery • Pregnancy or IUD in-situ
MAINTABLE RESULTS The results of HIFEM are maintainable but not permanent. Sorry! but once you have had the treatment it is easy to keep the fat at bay as HIFEM generates results similar to exercising but at a much faster and more effective pace. The muscle size and tone can be maintained for very long period of time with proper diet and exercise but ladies, be warned, it is not a permanent fix. The results, however, can be easily maintained with a simple, follow up treatment every 3 to 6 months.
Another HIFEM fan, said, “I eat a healthy diet and have a regular exercise regime; I mainly exercise at home following programmes on You Tube, but feel abdominal definition is not achievable with ab exercises alone. Once I have it (through HIFEM) I’ll maintain it.
“I physically can’t do the number of squats required for the shape I’d love but I can manage a maintenance regime,” said one happy HIFEM customer.
HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED? HIFEM is not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle, it can kickstart a new regime though. It will give you results that you’d struggle to achieve on your own. From the first session you will feel a difference and may in fact have tenderness in the area similar to working out – but without the time and hard work put in! The results are cumulative with 4 being the minimum recommended number of treatments.
DOES IT WORK FOR EVERYONE? Muscle mass gained by HIFEM is expected to last for 6 months to a year, but it is recommended you keep these results up with a healthy lifestyle of diet and exercise. HIFEM is generating the results you’d expect from gym sessions but at a much, much

summer heats up. One of Beyonce’s key cover looks on the latest issue of British Vogue included floor length textured braids, and while this might not be appropriate for a music festival we can create a less couture version of this trend in salon, which is perfect for summer celebrations. By working with your stylist, it can be braids and fishtail plaits can be incorporated to suit everyone’s texture and every occasion. If you are heading to a festival
or two day event, you can keep the ponytail on point during day one by freshening it up with a dry shampoo such as ORIBE Dry Texturising Spray. And for day two, remove the individual braids and using a soft brush, bring them together to produce a more polished finish. Don’t leave the house without the KMS Conscious Style Cleansing Mist this summer. This product is a genuine game changer and a life saver at any festival. The mist actually

cleanses your hair leaving no residue so if your hair gets too lived in and oily, spray KMS Conscious Cleansing Mist on to your roots and allow to dry naturally or (blow-dry in if you’re not camping!). Temporary colours such a soft blue and baby pink are the perfect summer romance. They require minimal commitment, the choices are endless and will last a maximum of four weeks. There is a shade of pink for everybody; lavender/cooler pink is great for skins with a red pigment while peachy pink works best on warmer skin tones. Blue works great on either very pale or very tanned skin. This selection of pastel tones work best over very blonde hair and for our clients who aren’t blonde, we recommend getting a bleached panel and play with the colour on a small section. Our highly trained colourists will guide you through the exact shades that work for your skin tone, eye colour, and lifestyle. If you have Notting Hill Carnival at the weekend and a work presentation on Monday we can work with that. A ribbon of colour or an under-parting placement can help create that work-life balance. As I mentioned earlier, the key to stylish hair that appears effortless is that it does take work. And that work begins with looking after the condition of your hair. The summer months can be hard on hair. Increased sunlight, UV rays, air con and dehydration all play an important role when it comes to looking after your hair. Next month I’ll be talking about summer and holiday haircare in depth but it is never too

soon to be increasing moisture levels within your hair. In the salon we offer a bespoke selection of hand picked treatments that are available for you to purchase and apply at home. It is important to know that we only work with brands that share the same ethos as ourselves so you can be safe in the knowledge that the products we stock are what we use at home also. Alternatively, a great way of injecting moisture into the hair and creating optimum health quickly is through our selection of in-salon treatments that can be added to your visit at the back wash. Personalised remedies, keratin blow dries and leave-in applications can be applied to restore hair and are perfect pre-holiday or for a special event, or simply some next level tlc for your hair. Please note that new clients require a sensitivity test 48 hours in advance of colour services. Existing colour clients require a test if a period of six months or more passes between colour services with us. We offer complimentary in salon tests, however if that isn’t possible with your schedule we also offer home testing kits that can be posted out to you at a cost of £15. I’ll be back next month with more insights from the world of hair but if you can’t wait until then, please visit our Esher salon at 7 High Street, KT10 9RL where myself and the team are always happy to talk about our favourite subject. HOME & INTERIORS
RENOVATING & WHERE TO S STARTING A PROJECT
Sadie Pizzey Sadie Pizzey Interiors is a full-service design firm based in Guildford. SP Interiors works on both residential and commercial projects and has recently been shortlisted for The International Design and Architecture Awards. Sadie designs with practical knowledge gained from extensive renovation experience. Her exceptional organisation and project management skills mean she keeps projects running to time and budget, developing innovative schemes and beautiful spaces to inspire clients. Sadie’s philosophy is: “We need our homes to be our battery chargers, to help us re-build and recover from everything that life throws at us. Designing spaces that embrace this, will dramatically improve our quality of life”. www.sadiepizzeyinteriors.com
Taking on a renovation project in your home can be incredibly daunting and overwhelming. It’s a huge cost and you really can’t afford to get it wrong! Most clients come to us because they know their existing or new home isn’t working for them, but they don’t know what changes to make to get the most out of their home. I always tell clients that they don’t need to work out the space (that’s my job) but creating a list of what you want and why you want the changes really illuminates what not to do. The first thing you need to know about running a successful renovation project, is you either need to invest your time to do a project well or you need to invest your money in using the experts to manage it for you. I’ve seen so many projects where clients have assumed they can do it all themselves, but with juggling working and
HOME & INTERIORS
- WHERE TO SPEND SAVE family life, the project spirals out of control! Rushed decisions are made, which result in disappointing spaces, spiralling budgets and a never-ending, end date!
BIGGER ISN’T ALWAYS BETTER Renovation usually equals some sort of an extension, but actually bigger isn’t always better. With the cost of extending being at an all-time high, around £2200 per square metre, you really want to check the space isn’t already there in your existing house. This is why the list will be your friend, because taking that first step to work out what and why you want these changes helps to narrow down the right changes to make to your home! For example, a recent client came to me because although
their kitchen was a good size, the living zone felt cramped with no circulation space or floorspace for the client to workout. My client fully intended to extend the already long kitchen to create this extra space. Actually, from determining what was important to my client and how she liked to enjoy the space, gave us the tools to create a layout that worked perfectly for her without spending thousands of pounds adding extra sqm. From our chats we discovered my client didn’t enjoy sitting at a dining table and actually preferred being sat up at a kitchen island with girlfriends before relaxing to a sofa area. A radical change of the L shape kitchen to a long island with dining station, allowed us to increase the lounge area and add some incredibly cool interior elements to make the room come alive. A much better use of space and a far more cost-effective option than extending! Projects cost a lot of money and it is human instinct to think “the more I do the more I will save”! Well, if you are a renovating pro, have excellent knowledge of construction and design, then I’m not going to disagree with you. If you’re not, then handing over the project to the professionals is the sensible thing to do.
THE ARCHITECT So now you’re thinking what experts? Firstly, if you are going to extend your home and you know (from going through the list of what you want out of the space) that this is a definite, then
SURREYROCKS | ISSUE 11 105
HOME & INTERIORS an architect is your starting point. This is where being clear and knowing why you are doing this project will make your time with your architect as efficient as possible. Don’t underestimate the time it takes from conception to planning permission being granted. Your clarity early on will also help you determine the right architect for you.
THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER Lots of clients assume that the architect manages all the necessary construction drawings, but actually once planning is agreed it is a structural engineer that will work out all the necessary structural calculations and details. Often your architect will have a preferred engineer they like to work with, that’s fine but you still must interview them yourselves. Determine what work they will carry out, their fees, how they will liaise with your architect and mostly importantly a timeline. I have seen so many projects come to a halt because an engineer the client hasn’t even met has not prioritised their project, has not understood the cost constraints and priorities and has added a huge amount of unnecessary cost to a project. There are so many excellent engineers out there, so find the right one, build a relationship with them and be clear with them.
THE INTERIOR DESIGNER Next up is finding an interior designer. If you aren’t extending your property and want to work with the space you already have in your home, then working with an interior designer from start to finish is invaluable. Even on extensions we favour partnering with an architect early on (before planning is submitted). Architects are fantastic at getting you the most amount of space possible and working with light and clever architectural additions to transform your home. We are fantastic interior space planners. We look at the space carved out for an open plan kitchen and delve into the full floor plan. This often results in windows, doors, roof lights and walls shifting to determine the best layout for how you want to live in the home. We also develop lighting, electrical and heating plans early on so that as we space plan each area of your home, we can also plan for how to light each zone and make it come alive. Our heating plan means we help you zone your heating, so that you can be as economical with your layout as possible. We also develop very detailed ‘Interior Scopes of Work’ for our clients. This allows contractors to create detailed quotes for you, instead of rough estimations that run out of control as the project develops. This also means once your chosen contractor starts, everything has a spec and is costed, which results in a much quicker build. And
106 SURREYROCKS | ISSUE 11
then we are of course known for all the pretty stuff that we source and bring into your home!
THE PRINCIPAL CONTRACTOR The choice of principle contractor is also a really important one. I have run many projects where I have managed all the separate trades required for each component of the project separately. It is hard work, and I can do it because I have experience. I do not advise any working homeowner to take this route, if you don’t know what you’re doing, the project spirals out of control, the budget is thrown out the window and it never gets finished. A principal contractor is a vital expert for a renovation and choosing the right one is so important. It is important to try and get recommendations from friends, neighbours and find out why they liked them, see their work and then put together a list of questions to ask them. Find out how they schedule their builds, ask to see a build schedule and a timeline for how long they think your project will take. Make sure they tender from a package ideally put together by your architect and or interior designer (depending on whether you are making structural changes), outlining all construction drawings, structural calculations, building materials and steel, lighting, electrical, heating plans, elevation drawings and the full spec of all interior elements.
HOME & INTERIORS
SUB CONTRACTORS It is common that your principal contractor may not manage a full interior fit out. That’s where turning to your interior designer is invaluable, good designers will have their own preferred team of joiners, kitchen fabricators, stone manufacturers, window treatment fabricators, tilers, decorators and the list goes on. We work very closely with our preferred sub-contractors and we are constantly on site managing on the interior changes. By having a clear scope of work at the start for your principal contractor, you will know what area of the interiors they won’t be covering, leaving you plenty of time to work with your designer to fill in the gaps.
A FEW RENOVATING GEMS Determining your budget at the start is vital, when clients don’t determine their budgets, we work with them to put together a priority list of working out where to invest the money and where to use clever designs to save. Here are a few areas to decide on the build (just to get you going)! Glass, if you are extending is having huge panels of sliding/folding doors important to you? Or would you be just as happy with some sets of smaller French doors? Do you want to fully open every space as steel is incredibly expensive, the more you add the more you spend! Both might be at the top of the priority list, now you know this is where you want to invest and now you have to look for areas that aren’t as important to you. Interior wise here are a couple of areas to be clear on early on. Flooring, options from a cheaper patterned tile, the more expensive herringbone oak to the very expensive but beautiful
micro-cement, it’s a big area to cover, is it a top priority? Is there some floor to keep? Or is this a top priority area, after all it’s easier to swap out your furniture than your floor! Joinery, I love bespoke joinery, it looks incredible, it’s a way to bring in decorative lighting, as well as creating something that works practically and makes my clients lives easier. Bespoke kitchens fall under this category, when we design bespoke kitchens, every element is completely bespoke for my client. Perfect lit up drink’s cabinets, that hideaway that comes alive at party time, breakfast cupboards where each component is fabricated to fit every kitchen appliance and item and islands that are curved and finished in incredible finishes such as liquid metal or patinated copper. However, all this is expensive, you decide is this important to you or not, don’t waste time and design time going down this road if you are happy with an off the shelf kitchen and online furniture.
THE TAKEAWAY Projects take time and money, but if you spend time early on being clear what you want from your home, what’s important, your budget and where you want to spend the money, then you’re giving yourself the best possible start. Invest in the right professionals and let their experience guide you and save you time and money in all the right places.

RESTAURANT REVIEW
said... it did not disappoint. It was a bold and refreshing take on traditional Indian cuisine with so many wonderful dishes to choose from. We opted for The ThreeSpiced Chicken Tikka which was fantastic. It melted in the mouth – oozing with favour, herbs and spices. The Coconut Shrimp and Rajasthan Lamb Chops (marinated in nutmeg, kashimiri, ginger and garlic) were to die for too. We couldn’t believe the size of the shrimp too – a meal in itself! The Rogan Josh was also recommended to us – it was a classic dish with exceptional flavours because of its wideranging ingredients; including alkanet flowers, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and kashimiri chillies. Next up, we got to try The Butter Chicken which was sweet but not too spicy, a perfect dish for children or adults not too keen on taking things to a spicier level! There is also traditional Korma and Tikka Masala dishes on the menu to
cater for those who prefer milder dishes. And of course, Madras and Jalfrezi for those extra hot curry lovers. We choose a keema naan and coloured pilau rise to accompany. Both were delicious too. We washed this all down with a lovely traditional Asian beer and a chilled glass of their house Sauvignon, perfect! Anis said of the new menu: “For decades, Indian food in Britain has remained largely unchanged. We have created a menu that reflects talent and creativity influenced by their individual style and regional background to redefine Indian cuisine. The menu offers a unique touch complementing with traditional classics; keeping dishes familiar yet original. Our ethos is to bring you the best dining experience in an elegant surrounding, serving fresh and healthy food without compromising on taste using authentic methods and the finest ingredients. We hope you enjoy your experience with us.”

W RIVIERA I
sn’t life better when the sun is shining?! Easy breezy floaty dresses, the feeling of warmth on your skin, family BBQs, al fresco dining with friends… I love it all! My husband has been so busy with work that we were not able to get away as planned for Easter or May half term. When he said he could take a specific 5 days off in June, we had a frantic search for somewhere that was not too far away. We stumbled across Portonovi on Google Maps which is an idyllic Mediterranean style village set amid Montenegro’s Boka Bay. When we found out that they had a One and Only hotel, we booked it immediately. I love this chain of hotels, they exude luxury and elegance. I have been lucky enough to visit the One and Only St Geran in Mauritius and the One and Only Palm Dubai – both beautiful resorts in their own right.
Montenegro does have an airport but the flights are infrequent so we worked out that it was best to fly to Dubrovnik and then drive to Portonovi. The flight was a do-able 2 hours 20 minutes. Geographically it should take about 1 hour to get to Portonovi but we had a long wait at the boarder to cross from Croatia to Montenegro by an overzealous police officer. Luckily for us, the kids were asleep! When we arrived I was blown away not only by the beauty of the hotel itself but by the spectacular scenery of Boka Bay. The mountains covered in lush greenery in the background reminded me of Lake Como, whilst the boats in the port, chic people and buzzing atmosphere reminded me of the South of France. It’s no wonder that it is called the new Riviera destination! Boka Bay is actually a UNESCO World

Heritage site with plenty to see such as monasteries, hidden citadels and all the surrounding beauty of the land and sea. The white sand and crystal clear waters on the private beach make this a perfect family hotel. Do they have a kids club I hear you say?! The answer is YES! An outdoor play area equipped with slides and daily activities ensured that the children had a wonderful time. Since we have been back I feel as though it has been non-stop at my son’s school. I mean how does a 4 year old have a better social calendar than I do?! It turns out that you don’t have to wait until your children have finished university to graduate, they can do it when they are 4. The sight of the children in their mini caps and gowns, clutching on to their certificates was one of the cutest things I have ever witnessed! We then had a circus event to attend, followed by sports day the very next day. I have always been into sports and I am probably one of those competitive soccer mums that shouts
on the sideline!! The morning of sports day, I said to my son, “make sure you run really fast today,” and he said, “Mummy it’s not the winning that matters, but the taking part that counts”. This was a good reminder for me that sometimes as parents we put unrealistic expectations on ourselves because we just want the absolute best for our kids and for ourselves. Last weekend my husband was away and each day I felt as though I had failed in some way. For example the house was a mess and I didn’t have time or energy to make food from scratch. It’s so easy to think we are failing when one small thing goes wrong. Instead we should remind ourselves that nothing and nobody are perfect and each morning is another chance to do the best we can.

JUly Tarot Reading
Let’s find out what july will bring for you! Oracle Card
Oracle cards give extra guidance to a reading and can help interpret your tarot cards in a different way. Your oracle card for July is ‘Cleanse’. This card wants you to experience everything that your heart desires, but first you must get rid of the old in order to welcome in the new. Cleanse away all the people and things that no longer serve you and enjoy the deep well of bliss that comes when you are finally able to be yourself with the people that accept you for who you truly are. You will know what needs to be cleansed, as it will feel like this part of your life just isn’t working for you anymore and you realise you don’t have time to deal with it. Have an open mind and call into your life the things that you know you deserve. Now let’s move onto the tarot reading...
Judgement
Your main card for this month is Judgement. This card is pretty clear in its meaning, this is a time to judge your life and reflect upon what is going great for you, and what you need to work on. In order for a rebirth to occur, you must look back and use past wisdom to create your future. Your inner calling is making itself known to you, so don’t ignore any signs that your body is trying to get across to you. Release any guilt you may have and start fresh. Judgement is telling you that the past has already happened, and there is no way of you changing it. Move into the now and think about your future with a fresh perspective. We only have today, so make the most of it.
Ace of Cups
The Ace of Cups signifies love entering your life and new relationships blossoming. Use your compassion to really connect with someone special and show them who you are deep down. Your creativity is coming out strong, therefore this is the time to put it to good use. Judgement and the Ace of Cups together are a good combination, as they symbolise renewal and new beginnings, especially emotionally. You may have gone through a trying time, which has made you rethink every aspect of your life but remember that this is only an awakening showing you who you truly are and who you want to be.
Wheel Of Fortune
The Wheel Of Fortune shows good luck entering your life and karma making its way to the people who have done something to deserve it, good or bad. Life changes in unexpected ways sometimes, and all you can do is go with the flow and let the changes happen. Your destiny will always be in your hands, and no matter what, you can switch things up when you need to. A turning point is just around the corner, so get ready for a new chapter of your life. These three cards show that reflection will lead to change, which will then invite new feelings into your life. By Pia Louisa

Your determination to go after what you want doubles in July, Aries. You’re asking yourself: if not now, when? That ‘can do, can’t wait’ approach is exactly right for you now. The cosmos obliges this month with green lights so for once, acting on that Aries signature impulse is definitely your best approach. From the third week of the month onwards, you enter your yearly peak for romance, good times and opportunities to shine and stand out. Taking a chance – maybe just on yourself, your talents and ideas, pays off. Later in the year things begin to slow down for you, but for July the heat is well and truly turned on. Don’t waste it, Aries. Summer sun and the cosmos is indeed telling you not to right now. Have a great month!
If you’re waiting for permission from some outside person or agency to go after what you desire, then you need to understand the only permission you need is your own, Taurus. Your image, appearance, message, brand, style, face and everything you’re selling is your calling card now. Take it and make it this month. Hesitating, wondering if you are ready or else ‘good enough’ are patterns that need fixing. Juiced-up July wants you to feel what it’s like to simply go after what you want with a new-found surety and confidence. This may begin for you with an adjustment to your look or appearance. It tells others you are not only ready for change, but have already changed. Especially those expectations around what’s possible. Pro Tip: Without breaking your budget go get a new outfit (or more than one), that is totally different to what you normally wear. Watch how it makes you feel and more importantly, how others respond. That’s what I’m talking about, Taurus.

Cosmic clunks and clicks catch you out when you least expect it. As in finding out whether you and another party are on the same page or not. Revelations happen and these reveal surprising truths one way or another. As in discovering deal breakers or else finding out you and someone else have more in common than you ever imagined. Or that person you hardly know proves they are made of the right friendship stuff. Either way – there’s no denying the facts. Think of this as as ensuring you no longer waste your time, love or other resources on the unworthy. From the 19th onwards its time to do something with your ideas thanks to ruler Mercury enhancing everything you say, send out or create. You’re also in a holiday mood, Gemini so do try to get away – even for a short break. All the more reason not to carry any excess baggage when it comes to those who may not have your back.
Mid-month sees one relationship or connection thrown into the spotlight thanks to a full Supermoon on the 13th in your house of duets, double acts, duos and yes, duels, Cancer. Love them or hate them, they hold up a mirror for you which shows you an aspect of yourself via how they perceive you. Take it no matter who does this, they deserve your thanks for the big reveal. Hopefully they are showing you how much you mean to them. But if this is your rival or opponent, maybe the very qualities that push your buttons in them need accepting in yourself? As we head into August this should all lead to a new level of self-love. That’s not selfishness, Cancer. It’s the love from which all other kinds of love flow. Think on it this way, you need to be full of love in order to love and support those you care about. This month offers the refuelling station if needed. Next month takes you to places where you can keep the love topped up.
Happy birthday, Leo! Ready to roar? Have that feeling love has plans for you but can’t yet put the lion’s paw on the form it is going to take? If your intuition is telling you that you are on a cusp of a massive change or transformation around partnerships of all descriptions, take note. 2023 will mark a major turning point for you which takes you forward to places you cannot yet comprehend via a key double act dynamic. You won’t be going it alone. For now, enjoy your time in the spotlight – after all, you are the sign designed to stand out. Your mood tells the cosmos you are ready for something new. New cycle, new opportunities, new you! You’re also setting a fresh set of priorities for the coming year which determine what you pour your big Leo heart into and what simply no longer rates. Take your time to determine what this is. Nobody gets to ‘have it all’. And that’s a good thing. A better birthday gift is simply to have what really matters.
You’re in a social mood right up until the 19th after which you start to spend more time unplugged. Tune into the flow for best results this month, Virgo. The 13th offers one of the best days for a moondance or simply finding ways to stand out. A recharge before your fresh cycle begins next month may be necessary however. And don’t see downtime as wasted time either. If you’ve been tuning out that still, small voice whispering away in the background, you can now turn up the volume and listen. Chances are this is something you may have been ignoring for a while. Uncovering your real needs or what your higher self is saying leads to you clarifying a leading question once and for all. By taking care of soul business, going with your gut and bringing your superpower gift of lasercorrect attention to detail to bear, you set yourself up to go forward lighter, freer and living your truth.

Duos, duets, double acts and partnership matters reach a key state or you quite literally pause for thought this month, Libra. If things slow down in love, this may be to allow you to ensure you and that other party are headed in the right direction. Or hopefully are as compatible as you think. If you are single and seeking, go for the slow burn and hum along to Phil Collins. You can’t hurry love. This applies across all long term connections. That working/ business/collaboration dynamic. That bff. Your live-in boo. Your spouse. You are the sign of partnerships and balance and usually involved in a cradle-to-grave exploration of each and every kind on offer. Every so often however, we need to simply look at how love has caused us to evolve and grow and ensure that other half has grown with us. Singles can reassess those qualities they seek in another. A new chapter unfolds at the end of the year.
Time for pleasure, parties and play right up until the 22nd. Love should top your list of activities. Including lovers and doing what you love when it comes to hobbies, pastimes, creativity and anything that gets you noticed. If you don’t want to stand out, the first three weeks of July are not for you! Travel and holidays may feature. Time for a little or a lot of indulgence whether you are going away or not. At the very least, head out for a day trip or two somewhere you love to be. The third week of July brings a shift in your energy as you take care of the everyday business of well – taking care of business. Your day job – paid or unpaid, your habits and routine, wellbeing and exercise (or lack thereof), need your attention. This is the perfect time to apply for that new job, start a diet or exercise regimen – and stick to it, or to lever yourself out of that rut as comforting as it may be. It’s also confining. And this month shows you just what you need to escape.
Ruler Jupiter turns retrograde in your 5th of lovers, children, holidays and creative, self-expression. However, the Sun and other planets piling into your 9th house from the 19th onwards offer the antidote to that ‘Someone moved my mojo’ feeling. Second time around chances could feature. As could last minute travel plans or opportunities to showcase your talents. Your confidence is in focus now. As in how you put yourself out there, the chances you are willing to take, your belief in the magic of YOU. And also how you express this. For many of you, this month may offer an opportunity to stand out and impress an audience. This could be thousands of followers or that key audience of one. What matters is how this makes you feel. Others could be looking at striking out on a fresh path which allows them full wild Sag, pony, creative expression. Again, you may have toyed with this in the past but hesitated. Now your attitude is ‘What have I got to lose?’. Answer: nothing but the same old, same old, Sag. So no longer you.
This month’s full Supermoon (13th) in your sign picks out a key player in a duo, double act or duet. Or a potential one. It’s important you accept any and all invitations that come your way under it. Fabulous connections can be made. It’s also a wonderful Moon under which to have that discussion with a loved one or that key interview, business meeting or pitch. Look to your image, how you express your feelings and come across as this is all important now. You’ve a desire burning inside for a change or for something different. But unless you step away from what you know or how you usually do things, how are you supposed to get it? This full Moon can push your buttons – both in a positive and a negative way. What’s certain is you are not longer able to keep what you feel within you. Or sit around doing nothing. That being said, you won’t tolerate passive/aggressive behaviour or manipulation from others. You tell it like it is and expect the same in return. Yes, your heart is on your sleeve and that’s a good thing. This results in you knowing exactly where you stand.
You are about to enter your yearly partnership peak from the 22nd, Aquarius. Love actually IS all around you from this point onwards. And there’s a new dawn or deal on offer along with this. Are you ready to accept it? Singles should prepare to swipe away (or whatever method feels right for you). Settleds can make plans for their future with goals that build on togetherness. All kinds of dynamics which involve you and at least one other party are in focus. That working or business relationship. That bestie. That collaborator or activity partner. Whatever duo you want to create or enter, now is the time to go seek it out. Next year begins a cycle of intense soul refinement where all your relationships will go through a period of alchemical and intense transformation. Triggered by changes within you. So plant the seeds for your love future, Aquarius so they can grow along with you.
Ancient ruler Jupiter is heading back towards you this month for one final visit. Need to adjust that look, appearance, personal brand, style or even those dreams? You’re about to get the opportunity for a relaunch if that is what you have been hoping for, Pisces. Love and fun rule the month right up until the 19th when you will find yourself more work focused. The 13th is your time to be out and about and enjoying the summer with friends. A new, unusual and potentially important connection can be made. If you are granted entrée into a different social circle to the one you usually inhabit, do take it. Someone may inspire you or even get behind your ideas. July wants you sharing and circulating. Or exploring fresh ways to do just that. Be a joiner as well as the life and soul of the party. In fact, the party may be happening wherever you are. Your only real job is to be willing to step out and enter the flow. If you do, what you want (or who), may gravitate towards you effortlessly. Make July the month where you lighten up and become the light everyone is drawn to, Pisces.
