CHARITY
After a challenging year due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, we could all do with a touch of Christmas magic this year. Gemma Graves from the NSPCC explains how we can bring some Christmas cheer to the letterboxes of Sussex

anta’s workshop is now open! Santa and his elves are busy writing, sealing and posting letters that will put smiles on the faces of children across the county! With an NSPCC Letter from Santa, you’ll bring magical tales from the North Pole right to your doorstep, be it in Brighton, Hastings, Haywards Heath or Crawley. There are eight fantastically festive designs, from traditional Christmas to a North Pole safari – so there really is something for every child, or even the family pet! Whichever letter you choose, each one is more personalised than ever this year. You can add your child’s name, age, hobbies, what they want

for Christmas and your very own P.S. message. Plus, it will be addressed and posted directly to your child via sleigh mail – so they’ll feel like they’re at the very top of Santa’s nice list! It’s easy to create your extra special Letter from Santa, just chose a theme, personalise, and make a donation! After sending a massive 170,000 letters last year, the NSPCC are looking forward to reaching even more children this year, and with your donation you could help Childline be there for children who need someone to listen this Christmas.
Whichever letter you choose, each one is more personalised than ever this year The Childline service is available to children every day – even on Christmas Day, it is open 24 hours a day, staffed by volunteer counsellors in bases from London to Aberdeen. It delivered just over 6,000 counselling sessions over Christmas last year, and
the top concern for children was mental and emotional health. When a child feels like they have nowhere else to turn to, it’s vital that Childline is ready to listen and support children across the UK. Gemma Graves, NSPCC Community Fundraising Manager for Sussex, said, “Letter from Santa is a really fun way of treating your child this December and also helping us to support children in Sussex and across the country when they need us. We get 90% of our funding from the general public, so every penny makes a difference. “If you would like to get more involved with the NSPCC this Christmas, you can also take part in the 5K Walk For Children on 21st December. A number of landmarks across the UK including Sussex are supporting the NSPCC by lighting up with our trademark green. Why not base your walk around a landmark near you?” Visit the NSPCC website to order your personalised Letter from Santa by 14th December to make sure yours arrives before Christmas day l nspcc.org.uk/santa
