Hey Key-uties!

This has truly been an amazing month for us all. Seeing everyone having so much fun at our meetings and being excited about the club makes me feel so genuinely happy. We’ve had many successful meetings, fundraisers, and events this month, and we couldn’t have done it without all of your support and energy!

I look forward to what the rest of this year has in store for us. As always, please make sure you are getting your hours in, as the 40 hour requirement is due at the end of April 2023. Stay safe Coyotes!

“My first key club meeting was really enjoyable. Coming into it, I was unsure about what to expect. I had lots of fun screaming and yelling with my friend. It was kinda cool but also embarrassing to be called the “freshmen who were cheering us on”. The activities that we did were really nice, it was really fun learning all of the key club cheers. The ending of the meeting was one of my favorites. I lost my voice but in the end it was worth it, a pretty unforgettable first meeting. Thank you to the officers and Mrs. Guichard for making it happen! <3”

“The first key club of the meeting was so exciting! I was running around taking picture during the entirety of the meeting and I think the pictures turned out great. They really showed off key club spirit and the dedication of this year’s board. Being able to see my friends and get excited over how much fun we’re going to have this year. I know key club this year will be one to remember just based of this first meeting!”

“The meeting I attended was the first general meeting for the 22-23 school year of key club, and it inspired me to do more community service. The meet was informational for those new to key club, and I enjoyed the riff offs. Although it was difficult to hear everything since there were many people, I was still able to learn new things about the club. I hope to positively contribute to the club and community by participating and volunteering.”

“The first meeting was a very fun experience. It was nice to go and be there with friends and meet new people. The key club board is very fun, nice, and really brought the spirit/energy to the meeting. It was very fun to go and learn about the key club experience and made me really excited for the rest of the year and so on. I am really looking forward to getting to know everybody and future key club events!

- Aleah Xayarath (co ‘26)

“The first key club meeting was really fun. I felt really excited about all the upcoming events and being able to do key club with my friends. All the cheers and the game at the end were really fun and I can’t wait until the next meeting!”

- Maharlika Del Moral (co ‘26)

“The first Key Club meeting was unlike any other event I’ve ever experienced at Southwest. The atmosphere and mood of the meeting brought out energy from me even when I was sick. I felt inspired by the senior Key Club members and officers to show my spirit. I was welcomed as if I belonged. One of the officers dapped me up. Happy to attend Key Club’s first meeting.”

- William Deng (co ‘25)

“I had a lot of fun at my first ever Key Club meeting!! I loved seeing how it really is a close community of people and I know my friends and I had an amazing time. We can’t wait for the events and opportunities this club will bring us this school year.”

- Jessica Flores (co ‘26)

“During the meeting, I thought the poncho game was fun. Participating and dancing with my friends while screaming with a lot of energy lifted my mood, as well as practicing our cheers. Shouting and cheering with everyone was a lot of fun, and I look forward to becoming closer with my fellow members of key club.”

“So far key club has opened new opportunities for me. It has showed that you can meet all types of people and get to experience new things. Being able to be apart of a big organization really shows the amount of people that have loved or loved key club and the amount of fun experiences you can have throughout your highschool years. I really look forward to all of the events and meetings!”

“Volunteering at the library every Friday has become something I look forward to every week. Being able to help out with the various arts and crafts for the kids is always exciting. I like being able to work with the library staff to come up with fun ideas and projects. I now have a better understanding of how the library functions too. There’s always something new I can learn from.”

“Some of my Boy Scout troop members and I ripped out the current shelving and cabinets in our trailer and replaced them with lighter plastic shelves. We also organized the shed which had a lot of trash since we wanted more space. The majority of the time was spent breaking all of the wooden shelves down and removing the nails that were stuck in the wooden boards. It took longer than expected but we got the job done.”

“Bean bean bean was an interesting experience that challenged my brain. It’s well thought out website design motivated me to push on and answer the trivia questions. I felt satisfied with my time spent as I knew my hours would be for a good cause.”

“It was very fast paced and lots of people lined up to try gyros. It reminded me of my job, so it was all familiar to me since I work with food. Making the gyros was really fun and it was nice meeting new people!”
