“Content Creation 404” Free Articles by Robert Plank

“…I've compiled free articles that Robert Plank is giving away through his site or from article directories. Long on content, short on sales, but he is hoping that you like his free stuff enough to someday buy something he's selling, of course, and if you do, I might or might not get a commission out of the deal. Regardless, you can learn a lot from reading the following articles, just like I do…”

Easily Generate Membership Content The number one problem people tell me that stops them from creating membership sites by far is not having enough content. Fortunately, there are ways around that when you know what type of content to create. My three favorite kinds of content are to make an overview audio, how-to video, and re-purposing of other content. What the heck is an overview audio? Well first of all, to explain that, let me explain the how-to video. How-to video is where you tell something, you lay something out to somebody step by step, preferably in about four steps. If it's anything from how to set up a WordPress blog, to how to build a bird house, how to lose weight, how to stay organized, take some kind of tasks like that, break it down into four different chunks and show each chunk in video. If that's a live action video or a screen-capture video, it's up to you, but show them exactly how to deal with something step by step. That is the meat of whatever kind of membership site you have, but what helps a different type of person is the overview audio. Before you even get to that step-by-step video, create an audio explaining the four things and why they are important. Show them or tell them the big picture and that way, when they go into the how-to steps, they understand where it's headed and why, for example, step number two is important in this four-step process that you're explaining. For example, if your how-to video showed somebody how to set up a WordPress blog, your audio might explain to them why setting up a WordPress blog is so important. Explain concepts such as themes, plugins, blog posts, usernames and passwords. That way, you can be sure that wherever your user starting point is, if they're a total newbie or an intermediate user, everybody will get caught up by the time they watch your how-to videos. And then there is no rule that says you have to put audios before videos. You can also have audios after the videos, kind of summarizing what they learned and what the next step is going to be. For example, if your videos showed somebody how to set up a blog, then audio, so the next step is up to you to write an entire blog post. And that brings me to the final way to generate membership content and that is re-purposing other people's stuff. There's all kinds of stuff like Private Label Rights out there, where somebody Setup Sales Letter in Minutes using Free Software?

How to Easily Come Up with Membership Content - Content Creation 404 might have already recorded some kind of an advanced video about WordPress, for example, how to install a plugin, and sold rights to that, you can buy the rights and put that right there on your membership site. If somebody teaches something that's really cool but they don't offer rights, simply learn it yourself and drip it to your subscribers. Those are my three favorite ways of generating a membership site content. Create an overview audio that explains the big picture, a how-to video that shows the step by step, and then repurpose the advanced subjects to give them additional training. Now, that you know how to create content, I want you to claim your gifts and go to http://www.membershipcube.com and see for yourself how easy it is to create your very own membership site. Hasn't All the Information in My Membership Site Been Covered Somewhere Else? If you're about to launch a membership site or if you're even fishing for excuses about why you shouldn't write or why you shouldn't make a product, you'd probably go to the old reliable thinking that everybody else has already thought of the things you have to say. That is just the wrong thing to be thinking because all the information anyone would need to know is already out there in the world and on the Internet but it's up to you to provide the right information and to provide the easiest information. You're not in a contest of how much stuff you can pile into your site. You're trying to pile in the most useful stuff and that's it. Think about this, all the information that you need is all on Google, it's all on forms, it's all on public libraries and yet training courses still exist and yet universities still exist because a lot of the information in libraries is out of date or it's hard to find or it's just the wrong information. You can always pull you own unique spin on some kind of training and make it totally unique. And because it's your information, because it's your training, you don't have any of that bad information. You don't have any of that old information. You have the step-by-step when everyone else is trying to be the big thick giant encyclopedia. If you still don't believe me, think about the last time that you're willing to pay money to figure something out. Maybe you couldn't figure out how to get your VCR to work. You couldn't figure out how to make an AdWords campaign profitable. Think about that. If you could figure out how to make AdWords make you $100 a month, wouldn't it be worth paying $50 or $100 to get to that information? And yet many cheapskates go and try to find the answers on Google and spend days if not weeks and never get what they're looking for. What you're really providing is the step-by-step shortcut to solve their problem. If you think of your training in that way that you're solving someone's specific problem then suddenly you're on a whole different level than the Google results and the public libraries and the forms.

How to Easily Come Up with Membership Content - Content Creation 404 You are an expert in something. There's some kind of skill you have that's somebody else doesn't have. I'm not saying you need to train somebody to become an expert in AdWords but even if somebody just doesn't know what stuff to click on to set up an AdWords account, you can make a video showing them that. Just get them started, just push them in the right direction and teach people something that you would've paid money to find out if you didn't know it. That way, you can trade the access to your membership for dollars and not your time for dollars. How Much Content Should I Really Have Before Launching My Membership Site? Stop worrying about how much content you need in your membership site right now. You only need to keep in mind these things - stay ahead of your first subscriber, don't create more than a couple of months worth of contents and when you do create content, do it in large batches. There's nothing worse than killing yourself writing tons and tons of articles, making videos and making audios and creating six months or years worth of information only to launch a membership site and have it completely flop. Now all that work you did was for nothing. Instead of setting yourself up for failure, only create as much content as you need. Could you theoretically launch a membership site with only a week or two worth of content? Yes, you can because you can create a membership site with just the bare bones, launch it and see if anyone joins and when people do join just stay ahead of those early adapters. Create a little bit of content now and stay ahead of your first subscribers, your earliest subscriber. This way, you don't create tons and tons, you don't create a whole entire years worth of content. You don't put in all that extra effort. It's better this way because you can course correct based on what people like or don't like, what questions people have and the reason people give you for what got them to buy in the first place. It's usually not the same thing you guess. Usually the thing that gets them in your site that excites them the most is not the thing that you think. When you're making this content, how do you make sure that you're not always rushing to just barely meet the deadline? Once you have these members and you're ahead of these first subscribers, how do you keep your membership site from becoming a chore? The answer to that is you create your content in large batches. If you're going to write one blog post per week, write three at a time. That way, you can sit down and now you have three weeks free. If you're going to record a short video to buy one more week to time, record three back-to-back, schedule them and then you have the next three weeks off. How to Easily Come Up with Membership Content - Content Creation 404

Is A Theme Crucial in a Membership Site? There are lots of arguments that can be drawn relating themes that are commonly used by many writers/bloggers. Some people may say that theme is important whereas others tells you just be yourself when writing. As you can see, there are lots of opinions. As for me, I do have a membership site that looks excellent and I do make sure that the contents posted are wellupdated for my followers. However, a great number of creators believe that the theme of their membership site is the most crucial component and thus they end up without anything accomplished. Moving on, If you had the chance to have your own membership site with a good-looking theme and no content, would people care to visit or have a glimpse to it? Consequently, they may not even pay you. On the other hand, if you had a membership site that is coupled with good but catchy theme and some good content, Do you think people would care to visit it? Well, yes of course. Do remember that your site is like a food where chefs are there for them to view it as to whether or not it will fit their criteria or not. To tell you straight, a theme is not really as important as you might think of. Now, you asked yourself, Is it essential to have an okay-looking theme? Well, it's pretty obvious., but it's not that important to go out and find a different theme every single time you will be creating a membership site. In addition, it's not that important to get a custom theme created every single time you make a membership site. For my part, I like better reusing my favorite theme. In fact, I utilized a theme called Cutline on nearly all of my sites and it's a plain black and white theme where I can find everything. I just reuse my favorite theme for new membership sites. And for that, I can easily build the membership site swiftly while I am still excited about it. Another thing, themes that are easy to explore can advantageous to you. If your theme can be found easily the following questions should be answered by a yes: can somebody easily search for something? Can they easily find old posts? Can they easily go to an old category? Can they easily leave a comment? Can they easily see what the newest posts are?

How to Easily Come Up with Membership Content - Content Creation 404 For myself, I like blue or black and white themes with a single right sidebar. Your selected theme should somehow correspond to your personality in order to bring the most out of you. Now if according to your personality, you prefer a two-sidebar or a three-sidebar themes that's purple, go ahead and use that without any hesitation. As for me, I know already what I like to use such as themes that would match the sites am I to create. I would recommend you to have some time to see and study your blogs. Try to distinguished what are the good point and highlights of your theme likewise the parts that needs improvement. One thing that's important to me right now are WordPress themes and membership themes that are plain and simple. There's no certain rule that says you have to have a membership site theme that has giant magazine-style pictures everywhere or that has content sliders so that the blog flips around about the different posts better around. In my point of view, I think these kinds of additions create distractions for some people, instead of helping them find exactly what they're looking for, you tend to have them confused. A theme is not really too important with your membership site. You should definitely choose a theme that looks good, but once you found that good theme, reuse it in your other membership sites. Make sure that they're easy to navigate and avoid a lot of the fancy stuff like magazine style themes or slider style themes. Now that we've gotten that issue out of the way, go ahead and create some content, and market your
