This project was an introductory project where we were introduced about urbanity and methods of representing a place. This initial part of the module required a group of 4-5 students choose an aspect of urban site that we were interested in. The themes that included to work on top of the urban site were Urban Veranda, Urban Streetscapes, Ripples of Life and many more. As a group, we had to choose one theme to work on as well as go for a site visit in an urban area. Our details found regarding the theme and site were to be proposed to the lecturer as verbal presentation for approval.

We feel that there is a lack of connection between the users, which are the children and their caretakers, with the building.

Pusat Aktiviti Kanak-kanak Chow Kit Jalan Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur Since the objective of the Pusat Aktiviti Kanak-kanak Chow Kit is to accommodate the neglected and underprivileged children of Chow Kit, we feel that the environment that the building holds does not complement the intentional idea of the centre, which is anything that relates to children. syaza yunos july 2013

The final part of this elective module was to design a solution towards the issues adhered in project 2. It was only a design proposal such that it did not have to be so detailed but to just give information of our idea and concept in relation to the theme as well as the site.

To my believe, these areas needed to be enlarged as compared to the other spaces since they are the interaction spaces.

This project was the basis of the whole elective module. It was the introductory part where I learned the brief yet sufficient amount of the knowledge regarding the different ways that you could represent a place, in this case an urban area.
Through this project I learned how to document the urban and cultural facets of the city in relation to architecture and the built environment. It also enabled me to analyze and and interpret as well.
In this project, I learned how to translate my understanding on the theme towards the urban site by producing creative production to visualize and re-present the research outcomes.
