s nuestro deseo que el Jardín Japonés perdure por siempre, que persista como un símbolo de amistad entre la República Argentina y Japón, y que difunda la Cultura Japonesa a toda la Colectividad Nikkei y al Pueblo Argentino”. El Jardín Japonés fue construido con la ayuda de toda la colectividad argentino-japonesa e inaugurado el 15 de mayo de 1967, para conmemorar la primera visita histórica de un miembro de la Familia Imperial Japonesa a la República Argentina, los príncipes Akihito y Michiko, hoy actuales emperadores. Este año, 2017, el Jardín Japonés está cumpliendo sus primeros 50 años. El Jardín abarca dos hectáreas y media, contiene un gran lago en donde están los peces Koi o carpas japonesas. También encontramos la cascada como símbolo de la vida, ubicada en la isla central del jardín, hay un hermoso mirador y un escenario sobre el lago para espectáculos. Hay puentes que fueron diseñados como parte del paisaje: “Yatsu Hashi” en forma de zigzag o puente de las decisiones. Dicen que cuando uno tiene que tomar una decisión importante, debe cruzar este puente y los quiebres del zigzag son los que nos invitan a tener diferentes miradas que ayudarán a la decisión final. Y el Puente Curvo, “Taiko Bashi” cuyo cruce es dificultoso, como el transcurrir de la vida. Se destaca la importancia de la inmigración japonesa con la piedra, “Monumento al Esfuerzo del Inmigrante Japonés” y con el portal en color rojo, “Shureimon”, que se creó en honor al esfuerzo de los inmigrantes Okinawenses.

Contamos con interesantes actividades realizadas para difundir la Cultura Japonesa, un vivero especializado en plantas y bonsáis, una tienda de recuerdos, un espacio al aire libre para descansar y saborear algún tentempié y el Restaurant Jardín Japonés, con las tradicionales comidas japonesas. Declarado de Interés Turístico por la Subsecretaría de Turismo de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires según registro N.° 742SSTUR. e would like the Japanese Garden to last forever, to remain as a symbol of friendship between the Argentine Republic and Japan, and to spread Japanese Culture to all the Nikkei Community and the Argentine People.” The Japanese Garden was built with the help of the entire Argentine-Japanese community and it opened on May 15, 1967 to commemorate the first historical visit of one of the Japanese Imperial Family members to Argentina—prince Akihito and his wife Michiko, now Emperor and Empress of Japan. This year, 2017, the Japanese Garden will be celebrating its first 50 years.
The Garden covers two and a half hectares and features a big lake with Koi or Japanese carp fish. The Garden also boasts a waterfall, which represents life, located in a central island. There is a beautiful viewpoint and a stage over the lake where shows are performed. There are bridges that were designed as part of the scenery. One of them is the “Yatsu Hashi” Bridge or bridge of decisions, which follows a zigzag pattern. The story goes that when a person has to make an important decision, they must cross this bridge and the zigzag segments will give the person different points of view that will help them make the final decision. The Drum or “Taiko Bashi” Bridge is as difficult to cross as the course of life. The importance of the Japanese migration is highlighted by the “Japanese Immigrants’ Efforts Memorial” and by the red gate—”Shureimon”—, which was created as a tribute to the efforts of Okinawan immigrants. The venue offers interesting activities to spread the Japanese Culture; a greenhouse devoted to plants and bonsais; a gifts shop; outdoor space to rest and have a snack; and the Japanese Garden Restaurant, which boasts traditional Japanese cuisine. It was declared of Tourist Interest by the Undersecretary of Tourism of the City of Buenos Aires under registration No. 742SSTUR. MAY SQUARE La plaza principal de la ciudad ha sido testigo de manifestaciones sociales y festejos nacionales convirtiéndose en el lugar más importante de la vida política argentina. Desde 1977, las Madres de Plaza de Mayo se reúnen aquí para reclamar por sus hijos desaparecidos. Varios de los monumentos más característicos de la ciudad se encuentran alrededor de la Plaza. TRANSBORDADOR OLD TRANSPORTER BRIDGE Atravesando el Riachuelo se encuentra esta estructura de hierro, también llamado “puente viejo” o “puente Nicolás Avellaneda”. Construido en 1908, este trasbordador cumplió durante años la tarea de unir la
ciudad de Buenos Aires con la provincia de Buenos Aires. Hoy está en desuso. Al pie del transbordador, aún hoy se puede ver a los remeros que con sus botes unen ambas orillas, transportando la mayoría de las veces a trabajadores. This iron structure, that spans the Riachuelo, is also known as “Old Bridge” or “Nicolás Avellaneda Bridge”. Built in 1908, this transporter bridge was the first to link Buenos Aires City with the outskirts. Today the bridge is not used, but it is still possible to see rowers connecting both banks with their boats, mostly carrying workers.
